Bhagwan Vishnu's Mohini Incarnation Mahaalasa Narayani is widely respected and worshipped throughout India and Sri Mahaalasa Narayani Temple near Mardol, Goa is always flocked with visitors and worshippers... the temple is huge but very neat and clean... architecture is a bit European, infact there lies the charm... the smiling Devi Idol is very encouraging... infact, the total ambience is very pious and energetic. There are canteen, water supply facilities and dormitories for stay available within the temple complex...so a visit to the temple is a must when you are in GOA.

The Mahalasa Temple located at Mardol in Ponda is one of the most famous temples in Goa. It is also known as the Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple and is dedicated to the Goddess Mahalasa. She is worshipped in two distinct traditions. As an independent goddess, she is considered as a form of Mohini - the female avatar of the god Vishnu and is called Mahalasa Narayani. Mahalasa is also worshipped as the consort of the folk god Khandoba an incarnation of god Shiva. Jatra Mahotsav (Magh Mahotsav) is a popular festival celebrated at Mahalasa Temple. Held in February, it is also called the Mardol Jatra. Apart from the Jatra, the Jaiyanchi Puja held in August and the Kojagiri Pornima are two other special occasions.

Today, I got a chance to explore this place, .I visited with my family and we really enjoyed it It is surrounded by nature with all the facilities like a rest room and some pooja stall. The only one problem I can see is parking there is no parking space you have to park your car over the road and there is not much space to reverse it. So park at your own risk. Apart from this I can't find any issue you can take a rest for a while inside the temple is less crowded and the saints are very polite and decent. Even one can get flowers and other things at 20 Rs .

The Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple, located in the village of Mardol in Goa, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Mahalasa Narayani. It is one of the most prominent and significant temples in the state, attracting devotees from far and wide. The temple is known for its unique blend of Hindu and Konkani architectural styles. The main entrance, adorned with intricate carvings and colorful paintings, welcomes visitors into the sacred space. Inside the temple complex, devotees can offer prayers and seek blessings from Goddess Mahalasa Narayani, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvati. The deity of Mahalasa Narayani is represented by a stone idol adorned with traditional attire and jewelry. The sanctum sanctorum is beautifully decorated with flowers, garlands, and lamps, creating a serene and divine atmosphere. Devotees gather here to offer their prayers, perform rituals, and seek the blessings of the goddess. The temple complex also houses other deities, including Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh, and Lord Vishnu, along with their respective shrines. The serene surroundings of the temple, with lush greenery and well-maintained gardens, add to the spiritual ambiance. The Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple is not only a religious destination but also a cultural center. It hosts various cultural and religious events throughout the year, including music and dance performances, religious processions, and festivals. One of the most significant festivals celebrated at the temple is Navratri, a nine-night celebration dedicated to Goddess Durga. Devotees and visitors are encouraged to participate in the temple activities and engage in spiritual practices such as chanting, meditation, and attending the daily aarti (ritual of worship). The temple also organizes charitable initiatives and social welfare programs for the benefit of the local community. For those interested in learning about Goan traditions and culture, a visit to the Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple offers a unique opportunity to witness the religious fervor and devotion of the locals. The temple serves as a spiritual haven and a place of solace, providing a glimpse into the rich religious heritage of Goa. Whether you are a devotee seeking blessings, a cultural enthusiast interested in exploring the traditions of Goa, or simply looking for a serene and peaceful environment, the Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple is a must-visit destination in Goa.

Mahalasa, one of the most worshipped place in Goa and boarder region. Temple premises is very clean and neatly maintained. Usually on full moon day there will be huge rush and one has to wait in queue for darshan. Trust of this temple has made arrangements for stay to tourists. Vehicle parking is approximately 500-600 meters from temple.

One of the two temples of Bhagwan Vishnu's Mohini encarnation. Main temple is in Newasa, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. Very neat and clean temple. Statue of goodeea is so beautifull that you can't take your eyes from that. Feeling religious and blessed while we were there. Must visit if you are in Panjim. It's near by Fonda. It's also besides mangeshi temple which is 1km ahead of this temple. And they have made same like another one in 16km village away from this. Which is also good one to visit.

This temple complex is one of the most visited temples in Goa and it also consists of smaller temples of the goddess Shantadurga and Lakshmi Narayan, who are worshipped daily with Mahalasa. The temple has a canteen which is run by the workers. After the morning and evening aarti the Prasad- the holy meal is served here. Along with that, they even have a hall for weddings. They have recently renovated the small temple in the complex which has a gorgeous wood carved ceiling! The temple is famous in Goa for its huge brass bell and of course, the tall diwli or diya located at the entrance of the temple.

Beautiful temple, very clean and nicely maintained. No parking space near the temple, hence have to park at main road and walk till temple. Once you exit temple, you will see market nearby with much varieties of clothes, bags, jwelleries, etc. in such low prices.

Very well maintained temple. The waiting area is extremely soothing. Very less crowd. Darshan can be obtained very easily and quickly. If you plan to stay you can stay at the guest houses near by or the rooms in the temple itself. Food in the canteen is good too. The priests are strict about photography inside the temple. Please refrain from taking photos inside the main section

Mahalasa is identified with Mohini, the female avatar of the god Vishnu. Mahalasa has four hands, carrying a Trishula, a sword, a severed head, and a drinking bowl. She stands on a prostrate man or demon, as a tiger or lion licks blood dripping from the severed head. She also wears the yajnopavita (sacred thread), which is generally dedicated on male deities. She stands on a prostrate man or demon, as a tiger or lion licks blood dripping from the severed head. Goud Saraswat Brahmins as well as Vaishnavas from Goa and South Canara identify her with Mohini and call her Narayani and Rahu-matthani, the slayer of Rahu, as told in the Bhavishya Purana. ........ The Mardol temple complex also has smaller temples of the goddess Shantadurga (Santeri) and Lakshmi Narayan (Vishnu with his consort Lakshmi), who are worshipped daily with Mahalasa. The shrines for five main ganas (attendants) of Mahalasa, namely Grampurush, Bhagwati, Dadh, Simha Purush and Mhal Purush, are also located within the temple premises. Daily worship of all these deities is carried out before worshipping the main goddess. The temple has canteen which is run by the workers. After the morning and evening aarti the Prasad- the holy meal is served here. The temple is famous in Goa for its huge brass bell. The bell does not have a ringer. The ringer was attached only when somebody wanted to testify. It was believed that the goddess will punish the person by killing the person in three days who lied while ringing the bell. The belief was so strong that during the Portuguese rule the testimony in the temple was considered acceptable in the court of law. It is also famous for its Brass Divli/Samai (oil lamp). While in this shrine, Mahalasa is associated with Mohini and Vishnu, in the Khandoba cult, she is regarded as a form of goddess Parvati and wife of Khandoba, a form of Shiva (Parvati's husband).

This temple is just ahead of Mangeshi temple, but lacks proper parking for four wheeler. It is beautifully built and has a canteen too which serves food in the afternoon at a small cost. The Devi is Narayani Devi or Mohini Devi, avatar of Shri Vishnu, who slayed Rahu demon during Amrit Manthan. The Garbha griha is very relaxing and calms you down. Foreign tourists are not allowed inside the temple.

On the right side of goddess Shree Mhaalsa Narayan, there is a beautiful temple of Goddess Sateri. The water tank is at backside. We were fortunate to see Nowkavihar of goddess. What beautiful sight with lightening and bursting crackers. Outstanding. 👌👍

A calm and peaceful place. Located near to Mangeshi Temple. Although the parking is bit of a task here to find, would recommend to visit the temple during off peak hours so that parking is not an issue.

One of the most beautiful temple in Goa. An architectural marval! You can also have meal as prasad (a devotional offering made to a god, typically consisting of food that is later shared among devotees). There are some stalls outside the temple premises, got a good smelling attar from there, worth trying.
