My Daddy and I went on the Manila Food Tour: Introduction to Philippine Street Food. First I love that the tour was started from a local resident realizing there was no food tours in Manila. Visitors want to try the food however we do not know where to start or know the history behind the food. Second, I love supporting locals and families. Our tour guide, Chole, is the younger sister of the tour founder. On the tour was my Dad, a lady we met the day before on a Manila city tour and myself. So it was more a private tour. Now I don't really try new things however my Dad wanted to go on this tour and Chole asked us to try everything and if we don't like it, it is ok. At least we tried it. I don't want to tell you the food we had because this will ruin the tour but I can say I tried everything and there were food/drinks, I really enjoyed. I loved that Chole gave us information about everything we tried. In addition, I love that the tour was in a local welcoming neighborhood. We got to ride a Tricycle and a Jeepney, which was fun. Chole did a GREAT job, she took pictures of our group and stayed with us until we all had Grab drivers arrive.

As a solo traveler, the hustle and bustle of Manila was originally overwhelming. I needed some cultural and historical context for everything I was looking at and experiencing — cue Jian and Explore Manila Tours. The three and a half hours I spent with Jian and our small group settled my nerves and definitely set me up for success with the rest of my vacation. We explored several museums (entry fees included) and all of our stops gave useful insight into daily life under occupation. I am truly grateful for him and his staff for being so passionate and hospitable. Jian, himself, is knowledgeable, personable, and flexible (which was even more appreciated with my traffic and navigation debacles). He was able to answer all of my questions about history, current politics, and culture to supplement my experience in PH. He has awesome recommendations Manila and Luzon, as well as neighboring islands throughout the country. I will gladly recommend any and all of the Explore Manila Tours and experiences. It is worth every cent. The next time I’m in town, the street food tour is the first thing I intend to book.

Review is for the Chinatown food tour* Jian is a fantastic tour guide. He ran a bit late but who doesn't in the Philippines. Nonetheless, he was highly communicative in the process. He's a library of knowledge. Super conversational. Food was fantastic. There's a historical context behind every restaurant we went to from the Chinese coming to the Philippines to hot soup during hot weather. You'll absolutely be full by the end. A nice touch: he guides you too the best place to get picked up through Grab and even waits for you to get picked up before leaving.

Brilliant tour, Jian was very knowledgeable, his humour was much appreciated too as we tried a variety of things too. Some more adventurous than others, definitely worth the effort in getting there!

I was born in Manila, raised in Quezon City, and now based in Los Angeles, USA. I’ve never been to Binondo in my whole life. That’s why I decided to take this walking food tour to learn more about the Filipino-Chinese history and of course, the cuisine. I made a mistake with the date of the tour that I booked but Jian was so kind to accommodate us on another date. Thank you Jian! This tour did not disappoint! I do walking food tours in all cities that I travel to but this one definitely had the most stops and food samples! Other food tours would have an average of 4-5 stops but this had at least 5 and 9 different types of food. Portion sizes were also very generous. Everything we sampled I would definitely eat again. I was full even just halfway through the tour. Fair warning though, this tour takes you through the seedy side of Manila so be prepared for dirty streets, odd smells, and children begging for change during the tour (which makes it more legit in my opiniom but to each his own).

Jian was the BEST tour guide we had our entire trip in the Philippines. He is incredibly knowledgeable and I'm so glad we started our journey with him telling us about Filipino history. Next time we are in Manila we will definitely do another tour with him. Highly recommend!!

Amazing experience! Toured thru Mandaluyong with Chloe and tried all sorts of amazing food. There was a meat shish kebab portion at the beginning, which I loved. My favorite food item was a gizzard! There was dive bar near the end where we tried some really good beer! There were also plenty of desserts throughout. I had an avocado flavored popsicle!

Chloe's personality made this tour so much better. She certainly got me out of my comfort level of trying new foods ..and that is exactly what I wanted as I now feel better prepared to test even more options on my own in the coming days/months.

The street food tour with Jian was one of the best decisions we made when exploring Manila! I recommend not eating before the tour because Jian will certainly not let you go hungry! The tour is packed with 18 dishes, yet moves at a pace that allows you to slow down, share stories, and learn about the richness of Filipino cuisine and culture. Jian is a master storyteller and his passion for food and for the Philippines truly shines. He has curated the tour to expose you to food you might not otherwise find on your own. Packed with fun surprises such as a brief tricycle ride and Jeepney ride, you won’t want to miss this wonderful tour in Mandaluyong! (If you’re truly lucky, Jian’s son may enhance your tour with fun facts and adorable charisma!)

Jain was the perfect guide. We learnt so much about the history of the Philippines. Jian was able to answer all our questions and even help with some local language hints and tips. I’d highly recommend.

As a Filipino local, the experience felt so great. It felt like I was in another country. The trip was planned well and the tour guide was a natural. He performed like a world-class tour guide. The experience was perfect. I would definitely try his other tours soon.

We learnt so much today. Jerome knew the answer to every question and was incredibly helpful and attentive. We came away with a real respect for all the challenges Manila and its people have faced. We did the tour primarily for our 18 year old son who hadn't been back since he was 2 but it was just as valuable for us. Highly recommend Jerome who went above and beyond.

😠 The WORST post-purchase customer service. Inasmuch as you want to support local farmers and businesses, theirs is just the most unreliable service. Order took 1 month to get delivered even if their website says 1-2days delivery. Delivery time is also unreasonable—past 7pm. Never again.
