Learn to NEGOTIATE. Even if you do not speak Spanish, ask for the price and just keep walking, compare prices, go back if needed, but do not accept the first offer. The main touristy streets are pretty safe but don't go wondering elsewhere. For food you have to try a hidden treasure, which is also like an antique museum, named Angelo Colonial. We had natural juices and a soup 'ajiaco criollo'. Amazing!!

One of the other street markets, but The Witches Market is bit more unique, as this is a place to go to for variety of medicines and spiritual advice. Majority of merchandise are used for rituals and it is worth to remember that it is a serious and sacred business to the people who work there, hence be aware of picking items and taking photos without permission.

Also known as El Mercado de las Brujas and La Hechiceria, you can find all sorts of daily knick knacks in the Witches Market. In addition, the market is run by local witch doctors known as yatiri (who usually wear black hats and coca pouches containing amulets, talismans and powders that promise luck, beauty and fertility), who sell potions, dried frogs, medicinal plants like retama, and armadillos used in Bolivian rituals. Fascinating visit

Toller Ort, insbesondere für Touristen. Sehr faszinierend, farbenfroh. Mit vielen tollen Geschäften. Man sollte sich genug Zeit nehmen, um alles anzuschauen. ___ Wenn meine Rezension für dich nützlich war, bewerte sie bitte als hilfreich.

It’s a place filled with tourists from all over the world to get souvenirs from bolivia. Please be respectful with the sellers because they make a living for this. Also make sure u call them “casera” or “caserita” after saying gracias (thank you) i’m spanish. It’s a way to show endearment and appreciation and respect towards them :)

What a fun and cool market! Lots to see and lots to buy 😅 it gets repetitive after a while and not too many things that stand out and are unique but a definite experience you have to do while in La Paz.

It is one of the best witches markets, here you can find all the ingredients for the pot, for spells and lucky charms and you can ask the sellers if you need a specific ritual they will guide you.

Pretty cool place where you can buy authentic witchy gifts and spells. Smells a little funky from the dead alpacas and alpaca foetus hanging around but definitely worth a visit.

Market is very good. One place where you can get everything that related with Bolivian culture. Try once if you are in La Paz Bolivia.

Beautiful and unique. Approach with respect, this place is sacred to the indigenous. Also, you can find plant medicines, like Ayahuasca and San Pedro here.

Place full of coulors and incense smell, still a tourist place. I was disappointed to find so many made-in-china items there. But there are original items too. If you want to see something a lot more authentic go up the street to the local market, you will not regret it!

There's lots of interesting things to look at , you'll find beautiful arts and crafts concentrating here , different price from one store to the other , if you are a grigo get someone else to deal for you , there aren't any white privilege here 😁😉

It is a good place to visit and learn a bit from the local traditions. I found a woman who explained to me a little about the ceremonies she practices, the Pachamama, and her medicine. I believe this is a must in La Paz.

Interesting, but more for a stroll while in la paz, not to buy anything. Around there are however a looooot of stores that sell souvenirs, so you can combine visiting the witcher's market and buying the your souvenirs.

I grew up coming to the witches market every few months to get things to bless everything from cars to businesses. The market has slowly shrunk over the years but you can still see how deep of an effect it has on the culture of the city. Must not miss this!

It is better to visit this place along with a free walking tour to understand the use of main items in these shops. By the way this street smells so good after passing the streets with lots of traffic smelling burnt tire or petrol.

Nice market with a great cultural vibe. There is a kind of mystical atmosphere and you can find all the traditional and historical products from the Andes , used by locals and indigenous from the region , especially herbs and remedy of ancient alternative medicine and spices , treatment , traditional esoteric items and products . They even sell some cactus 🌵, just ask for it . Be ready to negotiate

A beautiful street to visit - you may smell out the peaceful and seemingly interesting cultures of the Aymara, Quechua and other indigenous chifleras doings in it. I recommend 100% to stroll around and buy few items you deem favourite from them.

Pretty beautiful old cobblestone streets and many awesome arts! The witches shops all lay up with multiple llama fetus and some different products you don't see elsewhere. Make sure to not go inside to take photos cause they will charge you money. Also filled with many gift shops with good prices compared to the airport.

Ganz hübsch. Bis auf getrocknete Tiere hat mir aber das Witch-mäßige gefehlt. Insgesamt lohnt sich ein Besuch aber.

It is a single street for tourists, but there are not only ordinary souvenir shops, but also fortune telling and spell casting, which are unique to La Paz. Therefore even if you don’t bother to buy anything, just looking around is enjoyable enough. Since it is located in the center of the city, I definitely recommend that you visit here when you come here for sightseeing.

  • 5/5 V C. 4 years ago on Google
Very fun street to walk along during an afternoon or evening. It's less than 5 minutes walk uphill from the Plaza San Francisco. The eastern end has a few shops with local remedies including dead llamas for rituals! The rest of the street has small independent souvenir shops. The shop staff are all very friendly. Bargaining is possible.

The witches market is a very popular place to visit while in La Paz. It has become too commercial nowadays. There are many handcraft shops around but most of them of very low quality. Still it is a good place to see and learn about the indigenous ceremonies to Pachamama, Mother Earth.

Not a highlight of La Paz. While they do sell many esoteric goods, it’s nothing you probably haven’t seen before. The markets 3 blocks away are much more vibrant

  • 3/5 Markus H. 4 years ago on Google
Lots of alpacka clothing and other tourist stuff. Not a lot of brews or other "witch-related" items. But a good place for souvenir shopping.

I was expecting a big long street with many shops the display witches & animals. However, it is small short street with less than 5 shops that displays those things. In my opinion, there are many streets that are much nicer than this one.

Quite authentic for moreless touristy place. Very safe and interesting place. Shop vendors and Shamans are extremely welcoming and non-aggressive at offering their products and services.

I went to witches market today and I had the best Service here. For instance the worker made sure if we had questions to ask her and she answered every question. She even explained how anything we bought and how to use it properly!

Highly recommend going on a Sunday late afternoon. I went around 4pm and experienced no crowds. The vendors are generally friendly and willing to negotiate on price. Don’t be afraid to walk away from a deal because most of the shops have the same stuff

This market is filled with all sorts of cultural things to buy. There are desiccated animals that they use to put under the foundation of homes and buildings as a way of blessing them. They also have lots of candles and incense that they burn for different types of blessings.

With some luck you will be able to find a nice vendor and bargain as far as possible. Watch out your pockets in the crowd and very nice places to eat.

Really interesting place - not sure I would have got as much out of it without being on a tour (Free walking your from Wild Rover Hostel). Photo is of real llamas used as sacrifices to bring luck to new buildings, loads of other traditional things to see there too

Nice place. Lot of unique items. Most interesting is alpaca foetuses in all sizes. Shopkeeper also doubles as an expert who would do the ritual for you. Bit spooky too. Very close to city centre, at Frances church as well as st Augustine church. Very colorful

What makes a Nation or a society….. it is their traditions, belief systems and stories that creates their culture and builds the society. In the heart of La Paz only a block or so away from the San Francisco Church is an area that shows off the heritage of the Bolivian people. Stalls and large shops offer a whole variety of paraphernalia that caters to the ancient traditions and belief systems. On the sidewalks you can also find astrologers and card readers. The Mother Earth is worshiped here as the believers go about buying their items for their ceremonies and needs. The medicine men and women can offer services by blessing them as well. Interesting area to visit. Suggest taking a guide who can explain things in detail. The irony of a huge Catholic Church nearby cannot be overlooked!

It was nice to wander through the market. It is not huge, but nobody is hassling to buy something like in other tourist markets.

Despite it has turned into a souvenir street, you can still find real stores offering beverages, spellings and all sort of amulets…

Love the place, although from what I heard I expected more witchy stuff. It had changed a lot over the years and now it’s mainly tourist shops. But it’s a lovely and colourful area. We still saw some witch shops witch dried herbs and dead llamas, which I thought was really cool.
