I went early in the morning, and I was the only one there :) many beautiful pieces. Used google lens to translate captions. Would be nice if they offered audio guide.

As a space is extremely exquisite, the gallery, the noble materials that were used for the elaboration, the carving in various places such as columns, lintels, arches, the central marble was, is my favorite space, it just seems magical. This museum also has permanent exhibitions of the most renowned artists of Bolivia and traveling exhibitions either of independent artists or festivals that appropriate the place. Not sure about some of the negative reviews. Yes, it is small, but it is well laid out, interesting and in a stunning building. Some of the art is breathtaking and a strole around for an hour and a half was plenty for us. All uplifted by the art and building we carried on with our La Paz look around.

(Translated by Google) The museum has an old colonial look and its stone-based architecture can be appreciated. What did not attract my attention is its exhibition halls, I believe that more works of art by different authors were missing. (Original) El museo tiene un aspecto colonial antiguo y se puede apreciar su arquitectura en base de piedra. Lo que no me llamó la atención es sus salas de exposición creo que faltaban más obras de arte de distintos autores.

If religious artwork is your thing, then this museum will be your heaven. Otherwise, it's not worth the 20Bs. You follow a designated route through the museum to view all of the open galleries. Unfortunately, none of the other temporary galleries were open when I was there, and I was in and out in less than an hour. For those interested, descriptions are only in Spanish. Maybe if there is a temporary exhibition that piques your interest (or you're an aforementioned devotee of religious iconography), it may be worth the price of admission. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend visiting.

Disappointed, because this is the national art museum of bolivia. Would have expected more.

This is a national institution that does not accept credit card! Absolutely horrific and unorganized. Small stores I can understand, but a national art museum? $160 visa to enter Bolivia yet even supposedly professional establishments are gauging cash from innocent tourists.

Located in the popular square, Plaza Murillo, a small exhibition of Bolivian art spread across three floors. Get ready to climb up some stairs as there is no elevator in the building. The building is used to be the residence of Mayor Don Francisco Tadeo Diez de Medina y Vidango before it was converted to present use in 1960s. Ticket costs 20bs for foreigner and can be purchase at the site.

This was an excellent art museum, definitely get the guided tour as the guide is awesome and explains the art very well, she speak English very well but she actually does, she also really loves the art.

Very cozy and interesting art museum. They have Bolivian modern artist works. The building itself also beautiful. I went to there weekday afternoon. No much people. you can relax and forget about noisy road.

The museum's collection is mainly dedicated to Catholic religious art, but also has some pieces dedicated to modern Bolivian art. Apart from the collection, the building itself is worth the visit.

How disappointing. The opening hours for Sundays were posted on the internet and on the front door of the museum, but doors were shut. I wonder why the museum was not open today on Sunday between 10:00 and 1:30 pm. We were there around 11, waited until 12 in hope for someone to show up to open it, but in vein :(
