I
have
rented
cars
all
over
the
world
and
this
is
the
worst
experience
I
have
had.
I
reserved
a
BMW
X2.
The
short
wheelbase
(105
inches)
and
compact
design
would
have
suited
my
needs,
specifically
with
the
parking
challenges
of
Northern
Europe.
The
rental
was
picked
up
and
dropped
off
at
the
Copenhagen
Airport.
At
check-in
the
computer
systems
were
down.
After
a
longer
than
usual
wait
period
to
be
served,
I
was
offered
an
Audi
A5
(108.8
inches).
Although
a
nice
car,
it
did
not
suit
my
needs,
nonetheless
I
agreed
to
take
it.
I
signed
off
on
a
small
handwritten
form
prepared
by
a
representative
who
appeared
to
be
in
training.
A
full
contract
and
documentation
were
promised
by
email
as
soon
as
the
systems
came
back
online.
As
I
picked
up
the
vehicle,
there
was
no
one
to
assist
me
in
the
pre-delivery
inspection
in
a
dark
parkade.
I
noticed
damage
to
the
right
front
wheel
rim,
but
there
was
no
checklist
provided
to
document
damage.
Upon
returning
to
my
lodging,
I
received
an
email
asking
for
my
credit
card
number
because
they
had
lost
the
number,
even
though
they
had
an
approval
(?).
I
was
provided
with
a
direct
line
and
attempted
to
call
in
to
provide
the
information
and
was
on
hold
for
20
minutes.
I
hung
up
because
the
on-hold
time
was
eating
up
my
out
of
country
cell
phone
plan
minutes.
I
used
my
local
familyâs
phone
to
outwait
the
hold
time
had
to
leave
a
message
when
Avis
finally
picked
up.
No
call
backâŚ
I
decided
to
send
my
card
number
as
securely
as
possible
in
three
emails
to
try
to
get
the
rental
documentation.
I
also
noted
that
there
was
damage
to
the
right
front
wheel.
No
return
call
or
emailâŚ
I
tried
to
call
to
follow
up
my
emails
and
waited
over
34
minutes
until
the
call
dropped.
Sent
another
email
describing
my
actions
and
again
requesting
documentation.
While
in
Germany
I
received
a
ticket
in
a
low
emissions
zone
because
there
was
no
sticker
on
the
windshield
declaring
the
car
as
a
low
emission
vehicle.
It
actually
is
a
low
emissions
vehicle,
and
it
is
my
position
that
Avis
is
responsible
for
ensuring
that
all
necessary
regulatory
signage
is
displayed
on
their
vehicles,
especially
when
the
customer
declares
the
countries
of
operation.
I
did
this
in
the
initial
booking
process.
There
is
a
vehicle
licensing
fee
on
the
payment
receipt
for
$9.57
cdn
(50
DKK)
When
returning
the
car,
a
representative
noticed
some
tire
damage
on
the
right
rear
wheel.
It
may
have
been
during
my
rental,
but
the
on
boarding
process
was
so
flawed,
it
poses
uncertainty.
I
asked
to
talk
to
a
person
of
authority,
but
no
management
was
there
to
listen
to
my
concerns
regarding
the
tire
or
the
missing
emission
sticker.
At
return
I
finally
received
a
rental
contract
(unsigned),
in
English,
after
I
returned
the
vehicle.
I
also
received
a
post
return
inspection
form
in
Danish
noting
the
tire
damage
(I
speak
English
and
French).
Typical
tire
replacements
on
this
car
have
an
installed
retail
value
of
$300
cdn.
The
installed
tire
bill
was
$916.64
cdn
(4803.01
DKK).
Tire
cost
was
$806.10cdn
(4210.01
DKK).
Additional
charges
included
a
$57.44
cdn
(300
DKK)
damage
processing
fee
and
an
âOn
the
ground
Vehicle
idle
Timeâ
for
$54.57
cdn
(285
DKK).
I
think
that
this
is
a
lost
rental
revenue
charge
to
the
customer
even
though
there
were
many
spare
vehicles
in
the
lot
waiting
to
be
rented.
Poor
service,
wrong
car,
overcharging,
no
accountability
and
no
recourse.
Never
again
Avis.
