Encroachment is a major issue in this area. Municipality has done their part but its upto the business holders and citizens to make it work. Get almost all essential in this market

Chowk bazar is one the oldest bazaar in darjeeling it is very very famous whole world wide every tourist ask for chow bazaar. U can do shopping in here u can get any thing here it is best bcz I like it so much

I bought the most amazing churpi(yak cheese), marcha (ferment starter) and pickle from here. Buying local produce of pickles, ferments, kitchen goodies, exotic veges like ferns etc from here is a great idea . No preservatives and age-old recipes that are still alive in this part of the world. Do take the time out for a walk here. The border also has various home made cookies and biscuit bakeries.

Everything Needs improvement or rebuilding. Strict management rules for shopkeepers must be applied by the municipality. Especially during the rainy season, getting inside this area is pathetic for buyers.

It is the local market of Darjeeling. The tourist mostly do shopping here like warm clothes. In the evening, you will get stall for food like momos, egg/chicken roll, fry chicken wings/legs, chowmin etc. with cheap price around Rs 30/40/50. The market is closed on Thursday.
