A place of such rich cultural heritage . Khandani Darbar sahib is full of stories , a history worth knowing . Especially visited during jhanda mela in March every year . The paintings on the walls are one of a kind . At the entrance you’ll see hundreds of tiny portraits with meticulous detailing . The gurudwara is being restored by Archeological survey of India right now . It’s in the centre surrounded by samadhis of four queens of Raja Ram Ray .

Very religious place for all walks of Dunites. It has feelings of old Sikh Gurus and the full Darbar Sahib has paintings and art works describing their pravachana, It's annual function known as hoisting of Nishan Sahib the holy spiritual and religious as well as traditional activity. For this their present Guru sahib and their associates accompanied them and go to jungle near Doiwala/Dudhali to select right size of a very long log of special tree. The main lihaf the covers of Nishan Sahib is provided by a selected family/group follower of Sikhism, and it's booking is upto date for more than 60-70 years. The function starts after 5 th day of Holy festival, then the followers come form other cities and states also and some come from abroad too.The seen and gathering and chanting of Naras are mesmerizing.

Lovely place. Dehradoon (dera doon) , Khurbura Mohalla (khur pada) all these name comes from the lifespan of Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj. Got to know the history today. Naman πŸ™

The city of Dehradun itself derives its name from the historical fact that Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji, the eldest son of the Seventh Sikh Guru Har Rai Ji, set up his "dera" (camp) in "dun" (valley) in 1676. This 'Dera' 'Dun' later on became Dehradun. It is a belief that whoever settles down in dehradun must pay a visit to this place as a gesture of thanks. There are portraits of gods, goddesses, saints, sages and religious stories on the walls. There are pictures of flowers and leaves, animals and birds, trees, similar faces with pointed noses and big eyes on the arches which are the symbol of the colour scheme of Kangra-Guler and Mughal art. High minarets and round pinnacles are the models of the Muslim architecture. The huge Talab in the front which had dried up for want of water over the years and in which people had been dumping rubbish, has now been renovated and revived. Now whoever pays a visit to the Shri Darbar Sahib would definitely notice this change. There is a mela that starts every year on the fifth day of holi and continued for a month. Hundreds People from punjab come in trucks and they are facilitate with accommodations at SGRR schools and locals too participate. You can very easily reach the place as it is within a kilometre reach of railway station. From ISBT it is 5-6 kms and there are public vehicles running throughout the day.

We were visiting Dehradun -and our family friend suggested this place for an evening walk.. trust me, this place is not an ordinary place of worship.. One of most powerful experiences visiting here - if you are sensitive, you can actually feel Baba’s love as you enter the sanctrum.. You will surely blown away with an overwhelming feeling of love and peace.. I and my wife didn’t know anything but felt that vibration we had never felt before except in presence of Sri Sri . A must visit and I hope Baba would call me again here and blesses me with that experience once again.. !!

Nice place to visit in in Dehradun. But bit crowded streets. Mela is conducted 4 days after Holi for around 15 days.
