One of the oldest South India restaurants in dehradun where the interiors and furniture have not changed for ages, known for selling fast food items like dosa idli, vada, chomping, cholle bhature, coffee milk shake, cutlets but the taste seems to have seen a downward spiral. It was a regular feature for me as a kid as I love my masala dosa but the taste is not the same it used to be earlier and at Rs 85 I found it expensive but some might say that it's inflation, but had the taste been good I would not have minded paying the price for the same. Also they still accept cash only with no option of card or online payment. Would request the owner to look into the taste, rest things don't matter, please bring back my childhood nostalgia back!

Nice restaurant food quality is good special dishes are South Indian and North Indian food . Only one problem does not accept Online /card/UPI payment only accepts cash. In rush hours 5-15 minutes of waiting due to the queue of customers. The heritage of Dehradun people recognise this restaurant as a landmark.

I went with a lot of expectations but was disappointed. I have eaten better South Indian food elsewhere. Their food is ok to fill your stomach. Service on time, they provide everything dip in shambar which not everyone likes. The atmosphere is a little gloomy.

Good and bad both. Actually, It has 2-3 Dosa Chefs one of them is very good and my friend liked it so much then he suggested me this restaurant but unfortunately, that Chef was not there and Dosa tasted very average. So it depends upon your luck only

Must for south indian food lovers, min 75 maximum 200 only for each person. Sweets are delicious along with south food. Hygiene is also maintained. Mode of payment only by cash.. no car parking because it is in paltan market....

Their time tested flavourful authentic Dosas are the benchmark of consistent quality!!! The white chutney on the side with the hot piping sambhar make up for a wholesome food experience!

Over the years the taste has gone down while the prices have doubled. No sense of going to this place again. The place has lost its charm of attracting the shopping crowd as it is in the middle of the town's central market.

Often crowded due to being in the middle of a crowded place. South Indian food is good followed by Chinese fast foods. Sweets are also nice.

Very Bad food, management, surrounding. Will not recommended at all. Price is more than 5 star resturant. Only idli and dosa in menu. Card not excepted.

Located in the paltan bazar dehradun, this place is famous for dosa, idli and chole bhature, lassi, chowmin,Vada etc. It is a pre-independence shop which holds its legacy even today. The service is fast and it is usually crowded which tells it's popularity. I have visited many times here and they accept only cash no cards,no online payments.

I order Chole bhature and the taste is very bad and even the dosa smells very bad and oily smells like refined oil.

Firstly I like the taste of Masla Dosa the most cause they Serve the food with it's authentic flavour. No extra spices no food preservatives just Basic and real flavours. And secondly the atmosphere is just out of any gen z's expectations. The way Bollywood movies presents the cafe and restaurants of 90's era located in Mumbai and Goa the same kind of ambiance and Vibes I get here. In my opinion this place is really Great for Dosa.

ONLY CASH PAYMENTS ARE ACCEPTED! Nice little fast food joint inside the bustling paltan bazaar. Probably the only restaurant in the vicinity. You can visit here for veg chow mein and South Indian snacks like idlis/wadas/dosa after doing shopping in paltan bazaar. Prices are very extremely reasonable. The South Indian snacks are slightly at the spicier end and idli sambar is a usually preferred option in South Indian snacks as it's served very hot. It's not the best South Indian food you will ever eat, but a decent healthy option to try after you are tired due to shopping! Idli/vada comes dipped in sambar and chutney is separate, if you want sambar separate, pls inform at the time of placing order. Chow mein is available in full/half plate options. I visit this place every year since my childhood as this is an essential part of my vacations! My usual order here is idli sambar, full plate chow mein and Lassi. You can try the lassi only if you like it chilled, at a thinner consistency and less sweet. Badam milk is also a good option. Cold drinks are also available. Cold coffee is available on few days. Hot Tea or hot coffee not available. Service is good but slow as the place is usually crowded and it will take some time for you to find a seat and for a waiter to reach you to place your order. The payments are strictly cash only and no online payments are accepted. Payments are collected at the main counter, after finishing food. Bill is NOT bought at the table. I think more than food, people visit Lakshmi restaurant for its old days charm and nostalgia, so don't expect too much variety. The menu is fixed. You might end up sharing a table with strangers (due to the crowd), who are there to share either the same nostalgia or the same curiosity to understand all the hype around this place!

Place is average. Food is very appetising, which is the main thing. Authentic South Indian food is serve which is amazing , sambar is delicious.chowmein, cold coffee, cutlet and lassi is also available here. Price of food is affordable.Limited seats. Very crowded. Its a bit suffocating inside. Service is quick. Staff is friendly but the owner is rude, talks very rudely. No washroom. Hygienic.

I love coming back here everytime I am in Doon and I am so glad to say that even after so many years in operation, nothing has changed! The food just the same great tasting as it was years back. I hope it stays the same for years to come. Good luck!

Worst experience after 15 years. I had a very sweet memories of Laxmi restaurant since I was a kid and the taste I used to enjoy with my parents, but sadly to say coming after 15 years, I had a very disappointing experience. The Dosa which used to be usp of this restaurant was just below average, even a street vendor makes much better dosa with minimum price, Chole Bature was just useless, and on top of it they are giving cold drinks above MRP just giving excuses of Supreme Court orders, the owner says they need to give salaries to staff, how it will come, compelety disgusting. If you are food lover like me then believe me you will never come to this place again, you can get much better and cheaper dosa at Bindal chowk and Dwarka store, also we have numerous options for Chole Bature vendors in town with much better taste. Laxmi Restaurant has lost its charm and quality. Over hyped.

Nostalgia of tasty south Indian food. The taste of this place has not changed over 50 years. We had masala dosa with cold drink and lassi for two for a price of rs. 250. The look and feel also has a old world charm. The servers are also constant for a long time now.

Me and my sisters really enjoyed the Dosa here. Would highly recommend to everyone. It can be crowded during the afternoons as everyone wants to taste their amazing foods.

  • 1/5 Vipul R. 2 years ago on Google
Noodles were served cold, Dosa was fine, Lassi had no taste of lassi, Badam shake had no badaam, instead custard was used, Now coming to hygiene part: Had to ask twice, to clean the table. Fork were not washed properly. Gone are those days when it was considered a good eatery.

Amazing taste and fast delivery. I have been eating at this place for last 20-22 years and it has got same taste and price is also reasonable. The only thing I don't like about them is that they only accept cash. They should start taking digital payment also.

One of the best place to eat in dehradun(near clock tower). must try 💫 dosa and noodles. Great food, nice service and reasonable price.

Surprised to see this place in the middle of heavy crowded market, paltan bazar in Dehradun. South Indian dishes here are so authentic and particularly their sambar with Vada or dosa. Pricing is reasonable for the taste. All south indians don't miss this place if you go near by clock tower in Dehradun, I am sure you will love it.

One of the oldest restaurant famous for south Indian food and lassi in Paltan bazaar Dehradun. You can do shopping and then enjoy and have rest here with food here. Quality and prices are fine. One suggestion to add other veg menus.
