Sahastradhara, which literaly means 'Thousand fold spring' is a famous tourist spot in Dehradun. At the Baldi river, Sahastradhara is located at 14 km from Dehradun city. Tourist visit Sahastradhara in large numbers to watch beauty of waterfalls and caves. Known for the medicinal merits and therapeutic value, Sahastradhara has collection of water pools where water drips from limestone stalactites, turning it to sulphur springs. Apart from medicinal springs, Sahastradhara has tranquil environment with rich himalayan vegetation. Sahastradhara also has an ropeway providing an airy ride to the mountaintop. From the top one can enjoy the panoramic view of Sahastradhara. A waterpark named 'Joyland Water Park' is a manmade water amusement park which also attracts visitors. Tourists can enjoy Sahastradhara all round the year.

Very good place to visit with Family, Friends or Kids. Too good for Nature Lovers. Being a close-to-city and not much costlier destination it remains crowded all the time during summer. The tourists are requested not to pollute the natural beauty.

I was searching for a decent place in Dehradun as still there was some time left for my bus. I searched for the nearby places, I was still looking for a decent place when a local guy suggested this place to me. Well, what I got to know from locals, this place used to be heaven for tourists once. After riding for 30 minutes I got here, and I was not sure if I had arrived at the destination. Anyway I parked my motorcycle and took a narrow stair that was supposed to lead to the spring. As soon as I got down, oh it was disappointing. Needless to say the number of tourists visiting this place has declined over the years yet you can witness a decent number of people around. Tourists generally come down to take a dip in the fresh and cold water flowing in the spring. The spring has low flow however the worst part is heavy construction around it. A lot of mid size and small size eating points and tea points in the close vicinity of the spring diminishes its actual beauty. Though the water flow and rock beds look beautiful these establishments around the spring make it look like anything but a clean water drain. Similar establishments around the beautiful tourist spots in India are heavily encroaching these places with each passing day and a proper check needs to be put on such developments.

must visit and carry an extra inner and water wear. You can rent here as well and there are changing rooms available too. its safe mostly since the depth of water is not that much. Do not stop your vehicle unless you cross a bridge, thats the point it starts mostly.

Sahatradhara is an Amazing point in Dehradun. Sahastradhara is famous for its medicinal & therapeutic value as its water contains sulphur. It is  also known as Sulfur Springs, near another popular destination named Robber's Cave. The water of this cascade falls from around 9 meters. You can bathe, swim in the water steps, and witness the beautiful natural surroundings.

Usually, it a over crowded place especially in summers during weekends. However, if you go towards upstream, you may find bit less crowd. Place is really good and surrounded by mountains. Both local and tourists visit this place in summers. If you don't like crowded place, don't go on weekends, especially on hot summer days.
