I don't see any superior quality there neither. My husband's order arrived early, so we had waited long for mine. Average service, Average ambiance with small spaces with high price. It was pricy for our food & experience. We left there with hunger. I felt bit weird myself in the restaurant. Maybe I'm snob and this restaurant also snobbish.

Totally worth the price and definitely I would come back again when I visit Turku in the future.

Great introduction into Japanese cuisine and Asian fusion. We had the tasting menu and it exceeded our expectations. We eat a lot of sushi but Karu's sushi goes way above those. Sashimi was the freshest we've ever had. Wines are paired well with the dishes. But on top of all that, the service is phenomenal. The sommeliers were highly trained and they really knew what they were talking about. We had our first introduction to sake and got to try many different options. We also tasted our first japanese soju which was very different to korean soju. Highly recommend, one of the best culinary experiences you can have in Turku!

The restaurant has a nice ambience to it and I very much enjoyed the music that was played on a Friday night (90s hiphop). The kitchen did a good job on the flavours, however the size-to-price ratio was a dissapointment. Not sure whether the buns of the sliders were meant to be served cold and was sad to see that amount of crab in my portion was significantly less than in most photos taken by previous customers. Surprised to have been charged 2,50€ for tap water as well.

We went with the tasting menu and TL;DR it was fantastic. Really, really tasty and good fresh flavours. Ribs, softshell crab bun and appetizer salmon thingy were highlights. Good wine and sake recommendations. I can’t give five stars as the dessert was basically bread pudding. Otherwise highly recommending the place.
