The museum is nicely located a quick walk from the Aviapolis train station. They do have a wide assortment of Finnish Aircraft, especially gliders. While the Finnish Air Force museum does have a wider variety of military aircraft from different international manufacturers, this one focuses more on the civil aviation aspect of things. The signs here were for the most part in both Finnish and English. It is worth noting that when visiting this place in winter, a jacket is a must, as none of the hangars are heated.

The museum is relatively small, but it is packed full of interesting Finnish aviation history. It's a great place to spend some time and had a really nice cafe. With Aviopolis so easy to reach from Helsinki airport and such a quick journey, a visit to the Aviation Museum would be an excellent way to fill a couple of hours when waiting for a flight.

Good museum with plenty to see in comparison to its size which means it's also a bit cramped with all the planes inside. Really enjoyed the exhibits and reading about Finnish Airlines. The ability to go on board an old Finnair plane and even take a seat on board was really appreciated after visiting other transport museums where everything was well and truly closed and not welcoming anyone to look inside. This was very good entertainment for small children which isn't that easy in an aviation museum - but they also had a children's play area between the two main exhibition halls which was a mid visit saviour. Easy to reach just a short walk from aviapolis Station.

Tickets were rather cheapish, a lot of planes to see and you could actually enter one commercial plane which was really nice. Also the upstairs area to see planes from above was great. I would wish some more history to read, but overall, i enjoyed.

As a huge fan of airplanes and generally aviation the Helsinki Aviation Museum was a mandatory point of my weekend trip and I wasn't disappointed. There is a big exhibition of airplanes, helicopters, aviation engines, gliders and the air traffic controller workplaces. There is also a flight simulator where you can experience an engine failure and act as a real pilot and land the aircraft (or crash).
