SCAM! I'm aware that those are harsh words but at least currently, the exhibition is incredibly disappointing. Literally nothing worthy of taking a photo of EXCEPT the Kid's drawing area. 1. Very small exhibition, half an hour is enough 2. Main exhibition is mostly empty, it just displays some trash from the temse river (literally) 3. There was a lot of propaganda against onshore windfarms (I know this seems like an out of place comment for an art exhibition because it is.) Even the cashier at the entrance seemed to be aware of the disappointing exhibition upon talking to her, she apologized. This is just not worth any time and especially not the money (almost 50€ for 3 people is just not justifiable for this). I love art. I love contemporary art. This was no art.

A small but nice art museum. Hosts various exhibitions in small rooms of two floors. Some of them are from local artists, some of them include modern art. Some of the exhibits are really interesting, like the Oslo Valtonen's kinetic sculpture, which is something I never seen in the past. It worth a visit for sure. You can spend 1 hour or so to guide yourself across the exhibitions. The museum closes usually late in the afternoon, which may help you to adapt your daily plans accordingly.

Visited here earlier this week and have to say I was quite disappointed. There were some rooms that had nearly nothing in them which was so disappointing. I don't know if I just didn't get the art style or if it was minimalist but it wasn't for me. Now the 2nd floor was something I'd never seen with such emphasis though and I loved that part! (see pics) 😊

This museum wasn't my favourite. Very strange, even sick authors view. Exhibition very poor. Very large rooms, but only few exponats. Would be very disappointed if I would paid full entrance fee.

The August 2023 exhibition of Helsinki Biennial 2023 was not to my taste, ideas were blatantly shown but t execution of the art was bland and obvious. To spring pasture and Tove Jansson’s frescos were nice to see, but overall were just too small parts of the museum for it to be worthwhile.

Got really excited seeing photos of past exhibitions, but left feeling a little let down. The Dance exhibit, while technically unified by subject matter, could have used further curation. There was a lovely Laila Pullinen sculpture though! Was rather small, and for €12 it's meh. Fork over your money to Amos Rex instead - you will not be disappointed. I will say the employees were very kind and helpful.

HAM Helsinki Art Museum is a beauty and small museum to see whenever you’re in town. Sure, 12€ might feel a lot to some people but you can’t put a price tag on good art, just make sure to check online on what exhibition is available before coming so you’re not shocked if there’s “little “ to see. Totally worth the visit.

The tennis palace has two large halls on the second floor, where you can really take advantage of the space, as Haegue Yang has done with a firm grip, down to the smallest drawing, as if decorating the entire second floor. As if to tease the audience, Yang has equipped his works with handles, wheels and clocks, and the sound world of the exhibition also reacts to the movement, but even the staff is only allowed to touch the works with cotton gloves once every two weeks. Stravinsky's Spring Sacrifice just didn't seem to fit the themes described by the artist, such as Buddhism, peace and sensitivity. Alakerta felt like a herring salad this time, perhaps due to the fact that first we toured Yang's exhibition, where the two halls formed almost one huge work of art, after that, Alakerta with its different authors and starting points remained foreign as a point of comparison. But it's always great to see Moomin on the large restaurant wall fresco!

An outstanding art museum. Really wonderful to see the new exhibitions. Very spacious museum and plenty of work to ponder. There is something here for everyone. Diversity came across in many of the works. The curators of the museum have done an excellent job in bringIng the work together. I hope to return soon. I am grateful the information was in English as well as other languages. This helped me to learn a lot.

HAM is an amazing place, especially the candy and popcorn area, it made us feel so excited and brain-popped. Worth coming even though we came when it's closed. The cinema and overall environment were more than good enough to compensate the disappointment of not be able to get in.

Architecture of a former tennis ball is worth seeing. In addition to the museum, it includes a modern cinema (approx. 6 halls), snack center, burger bar, lots of seating options. Museum space over 2 floors.

I went to see the Ellen Thesleff exhibition:'I Paint Like a God 'and was pleasantly surprised by the Pawel Althamer exhibition: 'I (am)'. Althamer's installations were haunting, quirky and depressing. With seeing if for nothing else than to see how he juxtaposes how different the lives of people living in close proximity to each other are. The staff at the museum were extremely kind and helpful particularly when they realised that some of the audio installations weren't functioning, so instead ther just provided a detailed explanation of the piece. The Thesleff paintings were a different experience. I especially enjoyed how she portrayed the beauty and strength of her female subjects. It was refreshing to see women who were beautiful without necessarily needing to be nude and to see their strength also portrayed in the echo motif. When was last time you saw a painting of women/ girls screaming, just simply being loud and bold, yet rooted and grounded? Likely not lately and not often. Lastly, if you haven't had a chance to experience the creativity of Tove Jansson beyond Mummin, you're missing out. ' 'Electricity' and 'Party in ther City' were simply beautiful.

The HAM (yes, that's its name) is only as good as the current exhibitions. I cannot say the place would have been very good when I got there - there were a couple of interesting items there but not enough to make the experience memorable. Except maybe the explicitly exposed genitalia in one exhibition - would have appreciated a warning not to bring my kid here. There are nicer places in Helsinki...

I was just visiting a friend and taking a look at what the city has to offer, when I discovered the Helsinki Art Museum.
