Probably the best roastery in Helsinki? Ordered two pour over and a espresso. The washed Guatemala have the strong berry note and the washed Ethiopia is classic. The baristas and the roasters are super friendly. They will be my reason to visit Helsinki again.

The roastery/cafe is a bit out of the center, but definitely worth stopping by. You get here one of the best coffees Helsinki has to offer and the flair and mood are very relaxed.

Kaffa Roastery has some of the best specialty coffee in Helsinki. I particularly liked that you can choose from dark roast, light roast, or decaf for your beans no matter what kind of coffee with milk you order. I got the light roast from Ethiopia with my Flat White and it was a fruit bomb! I loved the coffee so much that I made sure to order a bag to take home. If you are ever in Helsinki and you love specialty coffee then you should definitely check out Kaffa Roastery.

This place just never disappoints! Everyone knows when you order a double espresso, how it turns out depends on how the shot was pulled, the barista working, coffee beans they happen to use, the amount of people at the coffee shop, how the stars are aligned... No matter if you go to the same coffee shop every morning, the espresso you get is sometimes perfect, other times good and sometimes just bitter and poop. Not at Kaffa, though. Every time, consistently, the espresso is pulled to perfection. 🤗 And the options for coffee beans are always just delightful and exciting.

For my own experience, I'd give this place 5 stars. I was served by a delightful, cheery woman who was happy to explain the coffees and what's special about them, etc. She brought over the coffee and I enjoyed it immensely. However, while sitting and enjoying my coffee, two customers came in and (the woman who serves me having gone) were served by an American (I think) server who was extremely rude. Asking if they have hot chocolate, this gormless server stared at the customer angrily, and said in a very snobby way, "No. This is a coffee roastery." I wasn't the only customer to notice this. I wanted to run over and say, "You have wine and beer and cakes, so why the attitude over hot chocolate?!" So by all means visit the place and enjoy their coffee. Just avoid the tall, dark haired server!

I am not going to comment on the interior as it seemed like there was a lot of construction going on outside and the cafe was incredibly dark because of it. It was very quiet when we went which was a little sad to see. I got a cappuccino with oatmilk and my brother a cold brew. The milk froth and temperature of my cappuccino was impeccable. We also ordered a cold brew which received high scores. Not too much ice and the roast was very fresh. My brother and I always make a point to visit here whenever either of us are back in Helsinki from wherever we are in the world. The artisanal coffee culture is still at its infancy in mainstream Finnish culture (some good new roasters seem to have popped up recently, which is exciting) and especially cafes that are able to serve consistently good espresso beverages are still lacking. I highly recommend Kaffa to anyone who enjoys good coffee and is wandering around downtown Helsinki.
