I have heard about this bridge as the inspiration for the railway bridge scene in RRR. When my flight was about to land in Rajahmundry, I saw it during flightโ€™s descent. Later that day I visited this bridge and saw huge gathering of crowd for Godavari Aarti. It was well organized and quite clean unlike other river banks in India. One can see beautifully lit bridge (now abandoned) standing alongside newly built arch bridge over Godavari. Its surely a tourist attraction and a must visit place in Rajahmundry.

The view will be beautiful if the train stops here. Havelock bridge ( British constructed bridge ) can be seen clearly from this view. Also Havelock bridge is operational for more than 100 years. Sunrise & sunset views will be awesome. We can also see shivlinga at puskhar ghat from the train. Other paper mill & 4th bridge can be seen.

The 4.1-kilometre-long Road Cum Railway Bridge (RCRB) across river Godavari came to a dilapidated state, 52 years after its service for railway and road traffic in Rajamahendravaram city in Andhra Pradesh. Built by Braithwaite, Burn and Jessop Construction company in 1970, the bridge is dubbed as the โ€˜Asiaโ€™s third longestโ€™ road cum railway bridge. On August 16, 1974, then President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed had commissioned the bridge that connects Kovvur and Rajamahendravaram city. Speedy collapse: โ€œRecently, the handrails and footpaths at several locations have been collapsed. It is essential to construct a new RCRB bridge across the Godavari to avoid any danger apart from better railway connectivityโ€, appealed Mr. Bharat to Mr. Vaishnaw in a representation. The present state of the RCRB has been appraised to the Railway Board, New Delhi and South-Central Railway General Manager, Secunderabad. Since 2019, the South-Central Railway and State Road and Buildings Department have taken up repair works of the RCRB on a temporary basis. MP Mr. Bharat has appealed to the Railway Ministry to explore the possibility to propose a new RCRB on a war-footing basis to avoid any untoward incidents in future.

In a very bad condition. Need urgent restoration work. The bridge is in horrible condition with lots of pot holes. There should be proper dividers for both direction vehicles movement. Local autos and route bus should be restricted as they unnecessarily honk and try to overtake. More traffic police monitoring needed.

The Godavari Railway Bridge is a truss bridge spanning the Godavari River in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. It is India's third longest road-cum-rail bridge crossing a water body, with a total length of 4.1 kilometers. The bridge was commissioned for passenger traffic in 1974 and is one of the most important bridges connecting the eastern and western parts of Andhra Pradesh. Godavari Railway Bridge The bridge was constructed by Braithwaite, Burn and Jessop Construction company and is a marvel of engineering. It has 27 spans of 91.5 meters and 7 spans of 45.72 meters. The bridge is also known as the Kovvur-Rajahmundry Bridge, as it connects the towns of Kovvur and Rajahmundry. The Godavari Railway Bridge is a vital transportation link for both passengers and freight. It carries over 100 trains per day, including both passenger and freight trains. The bridge is also a popular tourist destination, as it offers stunning views of the Godavari River and the surrounding countryside. In recent years, the Godavari Railway Bridge has been in a state of disrepair. However, the Indian Railways has announced plans to renovate the bridge and extend its lifespan by another 50 years.
