A very nice museum for the people interested to know about the architect of this magnificent Dowleswaram barrage that laid ground for the fertile Godavari delta from the once barren and drought region. Neatly maintained place with ample parking space and good greenery and nice plants and trees making the place more lovelier and nice way to pay respects for the Cotton Dora. Surprised to know about the great achievements of sir Arthur Cotton at such young age and his dedication and commitment for the Indian folks from a Britisher. A rare breed and very few that remain in the hearts of Indians still. Not surprising to know still some household name their kids after Cotton - kaatayya, cotton Dora, Dora Babu,.... Nice park for the kids to relax and have fun. Ground floor has models, First floor has photo exhibits majorly. Built in the times of NTR reign.

(Visited in 2005, 2016) - It's a museum dedicated to the extraordinary story of how Dowlaiswaram Barrage was built. Sir Arthur Cotton faced great obstacles and opposition, but finally took up this brilliant project. Felt many emotions watching the tools, artefacts, displays belonging to those testing times. The park is good but really disappointed with the maintenance. It should have been top class....

Sir Arthur cotton is a great British Engineer, who is a humanist and sacrificed his life for India in particular to United Andhra Pradesh state. He is like God to the Godavari delta people in Andhra state of India. He mesmerised with his unimaginable Engineering projects in Andhra. Particularly in water ways, Dama, Bridges, Anicuts many more

Good place to know how the Dowleswaram barrage was constructed & who constructed it. Nice information is there from where the Godavari river starts & how it passes to the Bay of Bengal. The life history of Sir Arthur Cotton is briefed well. Photos of 1986 floods of Godavari is also there. But the bad thing I observed, there is no maintenance. If it is maintained well, it will become one of the best museums.

It's a dilemma to review this museum. While it has some great content on the civil engineering marvel of the erstwhile British era, it is equally screwed up in some instances, thanks to the visitors who've spoiled some good paintings and photographs scribbling their inglorious names as usual. There are a few models of canal locks and dam gate systems, but none in working condition. But the fact that some great civil engineers have worked from this building is inspiring. The entrance fees is negligible but the place certainly needs a lot of maintenance work.

It consists of collection of photos how the Dewaleswaram bridge construction works gone in the past. It also consists of godavari river model from nasik to bay of bengal, and many equipments models used at that time. And it also consists of kids play ground. There is a entry ticket with less cost

A museum which carries the heritage and the history of the Dowleshwaram barrage has become a place with no soul. One can find the photographs of the Godavari anicuts and the plans, models, designs. It's a place of delight for every irrigation engineers. Just a sad thing that, a place that carries such history has become a place of no importance and a relaxing place to the occassional couples. Govt can maintain it and think of taking up some initiatives to maintain it.

A must visit museum. It describe every thing about the Dhavaleswaram barrage history. Lot of knowledge can get from this museum. I pity myself as Indians don't know how to keep their historical places and historical things safe and secure people wrote their names on walls paintings where not on almost everything. Government is also not interested in maintaining those kind of things. Keeping them safe and give the same to our next generation is not only Government's job it's ours too. On-site people who can share knowledge about bridge with live examples with the help of miniatures around there are needed. Love this place alot and hopping that Government and people help eachother to keep the historical places and things safe.

Sir Aurthor Cotton Museum, To a great engineer during the british rule in India who has contributed extensively towards the infrastructure of Rajahmundry by building Dams and Bridges and making the land fertile and till today it flourishes all because of his contributions. The people thereafter are in debt and have built this museum portraying all of his works and a great journey of him into what went in building promising structures in Rajamahendravaram. Dowaleshwaram Barrage is one of the major milestones built by him connecting East and West Godavari over Godavari River during that time. There are other discoveries and inventions made by him as an engineer in display at the museum. Though it's small it speaks very much with a miniature model of a dam gate. There is a scale model of the Dowaleshwaram Barrage. Also a map with contours and river streams made in cement showing of the whole Godavari Basin.

General Sir Arthur Thomas Cotton KCSI was a British general and irrigation engineer. Cotton devoted his life to the construction of irrigation and navigation canals throughout British India. He helped many people by building the Dowleswaram Barrage, the Prakasam Barrage.

Sir Arthur cotton is famous as God in these Godavari districts. People are so poor they even sold their children to come out of tough times in life. Now there are thousands of millionaires and academic stalwarts due to one simple barrage blessed by this genius. One will get nostalgia of those poverty stricken people if they visit this museum well preserved by irrigation authorities. It is a token of gratitude to this godly person.

Sir Arthur Cotton, a British Engineer regarded as Annadata ( food giver) by Delta people. He observed the sorrow of people here, sometimes there was famine and some times severe floods affected the region. His strong determination convinced the British govt and assured the construction of barrage and irrigation canals across the region. The plans, instruments used etc are displayed in the museum. A great inspiration to Engineers of the present day.

Museum has well-preserved photos, prototypes, illustrations, highlights of construction of anicuts on river Godavari in the early 1850s. Information here depicting his achievements and chronology of life events will help visitors understand why Sir Arthur Cotton, the chief designer, and architect of this project is revered in this region of Coastal Andhra. These Irrigation projects are the key reason behind the prosperity of this region. Visitors experience could be further enhanced by providing more lighting and renovating the interiors. Cleanliness is not up to the mark. Overall, this place is a must visit when you are in Rajahmundry.
