I know if your reading this you fell in love with the charm just as I did. I had my wedding on June 17, 2017 and I must say the experience was one I would not wish on anyone. First they have a volunteer who acts as the event manager and while she can initially be nice, she could care less about the events. She has no experience, and miscommunicates the contract and what you receive. First, I paid for the full day and the day prior. One week before the event she says the day before was only 2 hours. The contract does not specify. Next, she informs me the full day I thought I was getting is not really a full day. It all has to add up to a few hours. I think 6/7. So your vendors have to rush and get ready to not cut into your actually event. This is a complete contradiction from full day. Most venues give you a start and finish time. They make u pick a time to start, then everyone has to leave and they can return when the venue starts. If you can imagine it makes for a very intense set up. Next, the venue has been operating with insufficient cooling for the past 20 years. I had 80 guest with the venu providing a 130 max compacity. It was so hot I was dripping wet, and my guest started to leave from the heat. I tried my best to make the best of it. But, please do not book with them. They are greedy nasty people who can care less about how special your event is to you. I begged them to assist me in coming up with a solution to the heat. They informed me to find anew venue with five days to go to event. I'm currently starting the process to sue them. The last thing I would want is a bride to go thru the emotional and mental stress I still go thru as they are holding my deposit because I informed them I am suing them. Smh please visit some other choices. They are the slum lords of wedding venues.

The Historic Martin Mansion is amazing! They were the first vendor we booked based on their all inclusive package. They worked with us for two years to ensure that our wedding vision would be a reality. Polly and Suzanne are the sweestest and helped throughout the night. We had so many compliments on our reception venue from the decor to the flowers to the food. By the end of the night, it felt like the mansion was our home. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride!

I recently had a fantastic birthday party here (July 6). I could not have been more pleased with the event! The house is just gorgeous, and the booking and planning was incredibly easy. My guests were blown away by the mansion, and we all had an amazing time dancing our tails off. The ballroom allowed perfect setup for the food and the DJ and tables, leaving plenty of room for the guests to dance. It was just perfect for our party, and I am sure any wedding would be spectacular in this setting!!

What a beautiful venue for our wedding! The Martin Mansion is a stunning place for any event, and I am so glad we chose it for ours. Intricate woodwork, beautiful murals, and plenty of room for your guests along with a huge front porch makes it a fun, idyllic setting for formal events. When it comes to weddings, the volunteers and coordinator were so helpful, and made me feel excited about the entire process from planning to the big day. If available, I highly recommend you choose the package which includes catering, flowers, and more and it's definitely worth it! Everything went off without a hitch and our day was just beautiful. Definitely consider them for your wedding, you won't be disappointed!

Got married here on 9/30. The venue itself is beautiful and the all inclusive package is one of the best deals in the area. HOWEVER none of that is worth it to me after having worked with Polly and Suzanne. In our initial meeting I met with Suzanne, and made it very clear that I have multiple family members including myself who have food allergies. She said it should not be a problem so we decided to book. The following meeting with Polly we reiterated this point to her, wherein she told us she could accommodate it just “wouldn’t be very good” (which wasn’t even true?? The food was good??) so not sure what that was about. It felt like a constant battle with Suzanne and Polly to get a straight answer. They consistently talked around eachother and gave conflicting information to us. Furthermore, I have been a wedding photographer for 10 Years. In all four meetings with Polly she explained the job of a wedding photographer even after I politely corrected her. Following one of these meetings me and my now husband were outside the mansion. Suzanne walked up and didn’t know who we were, even though we met on multiple occasions. I’m sorry but if we are giving this venue tens of thousands of dollars I do expect them to have an idea of who we are. The final nail in the coffin is what happened at the wedding. The dance floor had gotten wet as we were drinking and dancing on it. We asked Polly and the catering staff to dry up the water. Instead they came out and mopped the floor. Causing my 68 year old aunt to fall straight to her face. Then Polly hid from us for the rest of the night even when we requested her presence. If Polly had been more on top of her duties as a venue coordinator and was not so interested in what my wedding photographer was doing I believe this would have been mitigated. Truthfully this incident put a damper on the whole event. All in all the lack of professionalism between Suzanne and Polly is incredibly frustrating, and flat out dangerous. Do not recommend working with them at all.

The perfect venue for our event on June 2nd. Beautiful historic home; the perfect setting for our final concert with the Hampton Roads Chamber Players. We had a caterer for the reception and he loved the kitchen! Highly recommend!

I have been to several events at The Woman's Club of Norfolk and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. Everything was lovely and the Martin Mansion is beautiful inside and out. I can recommend this venue for weddings, family or corporate events.
