Hands down one of the Top Three playgrounds in the Greater Raleigh Are! It is big, it is spread out, and it has a hundred options of play places for your kids. Thereā€™s stuff for little ones to do abs just as much stuff for bigger kids to do. Thereā€™s sand, thereā€™s cable slides, thereā€™s swings, slides, basketball, a massive playground structure like youā€™ve never seen before! You can lose tract of your child quick too though so, keep an eye on em here! Thereā€™s also a pond behind it with a little boardwalk. One of the best parks abs playgrounds in Raleigh!

This is an incredible park, in fact it may well be the nicest public playground I think Iā€™ve seen. It is regularly crowded but there is so much space and different areas to play that it doesnā€™t get overwhelming. Iā€™ve been a few times and it doesnā€™t seem that the ā€œolder kidsā€ (aka teens that can cause issues for the younger kids) have taken over the place- so the young ones still run wild. Be aware it is mostly in direct sun and can get hot. Also, of course less crowded in off hours- so plan accordingly. You can see the busy hours on google of course where youā€™re looking at this review! Enjoy.

This place is simply awesome!! Sassafras is definitely one of the best playgrounds in Raleigh. This place is super safe and an excellent place for fun and learning. This place is a hidden jewel because Google Maps doesn't exactly bring you to the front entrance, but it gets you close enough to figure out with a little time. Sassafras has the potential to entertain for hours due to the fact that this playground is pretty large, with connecting trails for exercise and even a picnic area for a shady food break. I would rate this place excellent for children between 4-12 (maybe even a little older ..... 40, lol!!) Please enjoy the photos, but most importantly, please enjoy the playground!!

Wonderfully designed playground! This place is so big it wouldn't be possible to catch it all in one picture. Cannot upload a panoramic photo here so here are my 5 pictures in order of the view from the upper level. My kids will be asking to go to Raleigh again so we can go to this park!

A well thought out and designed park. This is a great park for all ages. Adult sized basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields. Nice restroom area. A little secluded from the play areas, so definitely accompany your children. The sandbox and toddlers swing areas could use a bit of shading. But they have these cool gliding seats; like a mini rollercoaster for toddlers.

This is honestly one of the best playgrounds we have ever been to, if not the best! Absolutely love the fact that it is an all-inclusive playground. While we were there, we saw children who got to use the equipment since it was accommodating for them, which was wonderful to see! This place is massive and there are endless activities for children to play with. My 4-year-old and one-year-old both enjoy the equipment. There's also picnic tables, walking trails, public bathrooms, a pond, and much much more. Highly recommend!

This park is very nice. we were invited for a birthday party and we were surprised to see how many things are there for the kids to play.. We went on a Saturday and it was quite crowded .. the shelter is a small disadvantage does not have lights.. Also the restrooms are far away.. The zip line swing is the best attraction here .. we did not have enough time to explore the park, but thereā€™s enough for kids to do.. Kids can easily play for 3 to 4 hours here ..

Beautiful playground. There are lots of things to do. Picnic table spaces are semi-private, and the Pavillion area easily handles birthdays.

All children accessible park and playground!! Perfect for all kids and all ages! My kids could spend the entire day here. Itā€™s pretty new looking and I love the cushioned flooring. There are also soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a pond and looks like there are nature walks. The bathrooms are kind of far unfortunately but other than that this place is great!

Beautiful, interactive, challenging but fun-filled playground for all age groups. Obstacle courses, little zip lines, and the entire playground is ACCESSIBLE for even those in wheelchairs are some of the reasons I love the architecture of this play area. Clean, safe, and environmentally conscious as well. We will be coming back!

We love playing at this playground all the time! They have a lot of really nice play equipment and my son has a blast every time! He also likes to use the little puzzles, games, and text they have around the playground. We're hoping to have his birthday at this playground this year!

This is a beautiful, clean playground with a lot of different play structures. There are flowering trees and shrubs interspersed in the play area, which are both beautiful and offer some shade. I did not notice a toddler-specific play area, though it's possible I just missed it. My kids loved the "zipline" structures, and I appreciated that there was an accessible one with a seat, which meant our younger kid could safely ride as well! It's worth noting that the parking lot is not visible from the playground, though it only takes a minute to walk there. The park bathrooms are down the hill from the playground, near a ball field and trail head. There may be bathrooms available in the community center as well; we didn't go in so I cannot say for sure. Overall, it's a lovely park and a pretty magical play structure, and we'll be back! I hope to walk some of the trails once it cools down a bit.

One of the popular parks in RTP. Unlike the other public parks, it has variety of activities with swings etc.

Absolutely amazing! We took the boys here to burn off some energy and there is just so many options! There is even a cute trail and bridge to walk on. Definitely a great way to be outside or better yet, a free activity to do with the family!

Despite the heat, my grandkids LOVED this park! There was lots to keep them busy, but the zipline was their favorite!

Clean, well-maintained, and safe, this playground is a wonderful community asset. It's a perfect spot for a family outing, providing hours of entertainment and exercise for children. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a fun and inclusive play space!

My daughter is 14 months old and not walking. This park is huge with wheelchair accessible ramps which makes it spacious. They have lots of things to do for toddlers! They have toddler swings, sandpit, rubber ground, and other playground equipment for them to climb on. There were a good amount of people for a Sunday but it did not feel crowded with how big and spacious it is! Google maps tells you that you've arrived when you aren't there yet (need to go up to Edward's mill road) and although the time says it's open from 1-6 on Sunday, this is inaccurate as it's open before then. My daughter had a blast and we will definitely be back hundreds of more times as she grows up!

This is one of the best outdoor playgrounds in Raleigh and we visit a lot of playgrounds. The big thing about it is if you have a little kid itā€™s it can be really hard to keep up with that may have to run around equipment while the littles and squeezing through tiny spaces. You really can lose sight of your small children at this playground so be ready for a good work out and dress them in something bright so you can spot them!

I've been here a couple of times to celebrate family related events. From family reunions to a personal birthday, it is a great space for people to reconnect and enjoy their time in a safe environment both inside and outside

My child had a great time and made a couple of friends. Great equipment, plenty of shade and adult seating as well as child sized zip lines! We'll definitely visit again.

Great Park! What an update but still miss the old school wood playground. The past few times we've visited this park it's busy but not to the point of over crowded. Only one covered picnic area which resembles a school cafeteria but over all good space!

This is a fantastic playground! It is all-inclusive, so kids in wheelchairs or Mom's with strollers can navigate most of the play structures. There are a lot of different activities that kept my kids, ages 5 to 13, busy and happy for quite awhile. We're not from Raleigh, but the area felt safe.

There's so much to do here. The kids can jump around from one game to the other. There's also a trail, basketball courts, and a baseball field for kids. Prepare for a long day here lol!

Our favorite playground in the area. Lots to do and plenty of parking. The landscaping is beautiful and chock full of native species which is a plus for me!

Grate place for kids to use up their energy. The playground also has some really cool features that challenges kids motor skills and it has 2 zip lines. Amazing. I wish I was a little kid playing in playgrounds like this oneā€¦

We recently visited from out of town while my husband had a training in Raleigh. I took our 5 and 6 year old here on the first day, and we LOVED it! The playground is huge, and the zip line style swings were a big hit, as was the sand play area. We enjoyed our time there so much that we returned two more times! It seems that earlier in the morning is less busy, at least during the school year. Great parking area, and restrooms are a short walk from the playground. Water had not yet been turned on in the outdoor drinking fountains, but there is a regular fountain as well as bottle filling station. Iā€™m not sure if these are turned off seasonally or per COVID precautions.

I would give it 5 stars, which I did the overall area, but there are several things to know before you go. The padding on the playground gets very hot, even on a sunny 70 degree day. For toddlers, there is a round covered igloo play area and a sand pit to enjoy but the rest of the area is geared for ~4-9 year olds. In other areas, especially on busy days, toddlers are relegated to the periphery as they watch older kids play, which is an enjoyable activity but could be accompanied by a toddler-friendly area. If toddlers walk through many of the areas they can get plowed over by older kids eagerly enjoying the great play areas. Toddlers will also try to exit the elevated walkways via exits that are not geared for them, so guardians beware:) With all of the caveats, we will continue to go to this park to grow into the great play space.
