I stayed with a friend on two occasions on Sunday-Wednesdays: the last week in April and checked out today (May 3). Both times were on the second floor. First time, we had no major complaints. There wasn’t a “complimentary breakfast” but there was a little box with a granola bar, trail mix, popcorn and a bottle of orange juice so I felt that this was a nice gesture to be a substitute. Room was clean enough and there was coffee downstairs to grab in the morning (also had the little one in the room but I prefer the one downstairs because there is liquid creamer). During the stay, we booked the room for this week. Night and day experience: room was not clean. The a/c smelled like an ashtray and was blowing particulates in the air. This was the second room, btw, because the first one hadn’t even been touched after previous guests. It’s a red roof inn, not a 5 star hotel so we just dealt with it. No coffee maker in room , multiple outlets and lights didn’t work, and I’m pretty sure someone may have urinated somewhere nearby in the hall? Our room was next to the stairwell so we used that most of the time. In the three nights, the same trash was there. Trash overflowing in hall. This is just off the top of my head. Went to go grab coffee in the morning. No coffee. Was told they don’t serve coffee anymore per corporate? 5 days ago they did…. Said our room has a coffee maker if we want coffee. When we explained that we didn’t have one, they said we could try later to come to the front desk and see if they had one available or get one out of another room….yep, that’s logical. Someone did bring a coffee maker up and it was VERY dusty inside and out. Went to grab a snack out of the vending machine- it ate the money. Went to get a drink and ice-both out of order. I know this sounds ridiculously long winded as a complaint. I honestly hate complaining. But I’ve stayed in sketchy motels with better accommodations, honestly. It really was that bad….

I would like to give it a negative 10 because it is just bad all around. The whole hotel smells like a pot/tobacco farm!! The door barely shut to our room. Looks like they never vacuum AND had "private hair" all over the bathroom. I didnt even want to take my shoes off! Everything needs an upgraded and the staff is overworked. The front desk was super busy with everyone waiting on their room to be cleaned even after check-in time. The front desk lady was very pleasant and as helpful as she could be. The elevator felt like it was going to crash at any point and had graffiti all over it. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

Waited over 1 hour to check-in (only get helped after 3 pm) after flying for over 24 hours. Finally checked in with a long queue of people waiting for 3 pm check-in in the lobby. Keys did not work to open the door. After 3 trips to the front desk finally managed to get into my room. Smell of cigarettes was overwhelming. Railing next to basin was broken. Safe does not work. Nothing to drink in the room. A/C stopped working and smell of urine was terrible around the bed where there is carpet. Beds were clean. No daily cleaning. Found other accommodation and very happy to pay extra for a room that one can breathe in.

I've stayed at this location many times throughout my travels to Raleigh. Service is always excellent the staff at the front desk are very accommodating. The rooms are surprisingly big and impeccably clean. Plenty of parking available if you have a trailer in tow. There is a quiet nature trail next door you can access from the parking lot. Easy access to the highway. Close to alot of really good local restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great value when traveling to the Raleigh area

This is one of the nicer Red Roof's I've stayed in - rooms were clean and spacious, grounds were tidy, accommodations were plentiful and the hallways smelled really nice. All of the staff was polite, courteous and professional but most especially Destiny. She went well above and beyond to accommodate my needs. She had a warm smile waiting, a friendly attitude and she went out of her way to make each guest a priority. Her service alone merits a 5-star rating. Thank you Destiny, you made my stay easy and enjoyable!

Stayed here while visiting my brother at NC State. Old hotel in great location. Bed was not very comfortable and the room was very warm. Tried to adjust the AC but none of the buttons work. Found 4 different bugs in our room during our stay as well. Not worth the $105 I paid for this hotel.

Stayed here this past weekend with my daughters and it was absolutely great! The location is right off the 40 and everything we wanted to check out in the Raleigh and Cary areas was 5-15 mins away. The staff was super friendly and professional. I wish I had gotten the name of the gentleman at the front desk that checked us; he was very cheerful, patient, and kind. There's lots of room for parking, the room was clean and smelled great, and the coffee downstairs was pretty good! Thank you to the Red Roof Inn PLUS staff for the great experience.

Deasia with Red Roof Raleigh was awesome! We reserved 27 rooms within a short period of time for training for our company last week. Deasia checked in with me constantly and when I had any questions she was very responsive. She even stayed after her shift to make sure all of our guys were checked in since I was not going to be there to help check all of our guys in. Very seamless, professional and highly recommend speaking with her when you call to book a room at that particular Red Roof.

The proverbed roach motel. The elevator was broke and we were on the third floor. The room looked dirty the carpets were sticky. The baseboards were coming off of the walls. The shower surround was pulling away from the wall. We asked for our money back and didn't stay the night.

The front desk person was very busy but efficient. The room, however, was a different matter as it was dirty, the floor was not mopped, and it looked like blood droplets were on the floor. The tub was not clean. It was too late and we were too tired to call for cleaning. Cleaned the tub. There was a soiled wash cloth in the bedside table. It looked like it had either blood or ketchup on it. Bed was ok, towels small, cheap with the soap. There is no continental b'fast. Which was fine, but there was no hot water for tea or sugar-free creamer. When we left, the front door was broken, and we had to go out of the back. Hotel is not luxury, nor high tech. It's good for 1 or 2 nights. Not a great value for what you get.

It was a good hotel. It's good for short vacations, or if you're going to do other stuff and just stay there. The service was great. They were kind, and if I needed help they were there to help with no problem. The room was good not too bad. The only thing I hated was the pillows and the way the shower was done. I understand it's easy access for people like in maybe wheelchairs are other things. But I just don't like the water going over to the toilet. My feet and long pants would get wet. But other than that it was great. I give them a 9 out of 10. I'll be staying there again.

Only plus is the location so if you just need a place to sleep, you can pick here but the toilets wobble, the staff is rude and has an attitude, and there’s 3” cockroaches around the walls outside and on the windows. Then when I tried calling customer service (they charged the wrong person) they hung up on me twice and stopped picking up the phone. Corporate transferred me without helping or resolving the issue. Just book closer to the convention center. You’ll save yourself a lot of headache and blood pressure. Pluses: cold room on a sweltering day, rooms were clean for the most part.

For a smoke-free hotel, there is a strong cigarette and/or weed smell in both the elevator and the stairwell and our room bathroom door does not close, and the panels on the door are splitting from the door frame and falling out. Place doesn’t feel worth the price at all.

They do NOT have breakfast, which unfortunately was a big reason we booked this hotel. Just coffee. And whoever posted that there is a restaurant within walking distance, probably doesn't travel with young children. The rooms are OK. Staff is courteous.

My mom and I have been living here for a while and they never have clean linen the manager is very rude and has been trying to kick out the residents that have been here for over a year. Most of the other staff have good customer service for the most part. Definitely overpriced for what you get. There’s no reason why anyone should be paying 90-100 on a Tuesday or Wednesday with no local events going on. Corporate should not be saying that the prices are cheaper when we call but more when you actually check in.Reservations mysteriously get lost in the system. Stay at your own risk is what I’d tell others wanting to stay here.

I stayed here with my daughter and we thought it was great. The parking lot is spacious and clean and didn’t have creepy people hanging out. We felt safe, even when we returned late at night from our event. Check in was quick and simple. The lady that checked us in seemed like she didn’t really like talking to people. But we went and checked out the room as soon as we got the keys and it was very pleasantly clean. We checked it really really well bc I have a severe phobia of bed bugs and the beds were super clean. The rest of the room was also mostly clean. It was very comfortable. They have fridge, microwave, coffee maker (which was clean), iron and board, blow dryer. The in room safe needed batteries but they only charge like a $2 deposit for the safe, which they gave me back. The elevator was working as was the vending machines. The ice machine on my floor was out of order, but that didn’t affect me at all. The room had a lot of lighting options and a large amount of outlets, including right on the nightstand. The room was super quiet all night long and the morning desk clerk and our housekeeper were both very nice. They prob could clean under the beds a bit better which would be an issue for small kids or pets maybe. For some reason, someone had pulled all the plastic bristles out of a hairbrush and they were all over the floor under the bed. Again, didn’t affect us. I also liked their designated smoking area, which was quiet and comfortable, and greatly appreciated. There was a faint odor of smoke in the hall but our room did not smell and our a/c worked great. Also, the shower was perfectly hot and awesome water pressure. I work in a hotel so I may be more alert to problems than other people would be, and I was extremely satisfied with the quality of this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and we are going back in a few months.

Stuck between 3 and 4 stars. Hotel itself is old and needs some TLC. Staff was phenomenal within their own rules. The rule of absolutely no checkin until 3 is a crock. It's made up to make life easier for the hotel. Forget the customer. We had two reservations consecutively but had to check out, wait until 3, and then check back in. I'm always suspect of a hotel where the room doors don't auto close. Ours actually took effort to get it closed.

Brandon at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. He was kind, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. We will be staying here again due to his exceptional customer service.

The manager was very nice. I booked 2 reservations in error and it said I couldn't get my money back. So when we got there the manager was checking us in and we were telling her what happened and she said no worries I'll fix it for you all just enjoy your vacation. We truly appreciate her kindness because times are hard so we really couldn't pay for something we weren't gonna use. We would stay again without a doubt.

My recent stay at Redroof Inn was nothing short of disappointing. The room I was assigned had a strong, unpleasant odor that was quite off-putting. It was clear that the room had not been properly cleaned, as I noticed mold in the grout lines, making me question the overall hygiene of the space. The mold in the grout lines was a major concern, not only for aesthetic reasons but also for health implications. It is unacceptable to have such a blatant disregard for cleanliness in a hospitality establishment. The presence of mold indicates a lack of attention to detail and maintenance, which is crucial for providing a comfortable and safe environment for guests. Furthermore, the smell in the room was overwhelming and unbearable. It made it difficult to relax or enjoy my time in the space. I expected a clean and fresh room, but instead, I was greeted with these unpleasant conditions. In conclusion, my experience at Redroof Inn was extremely disappointing. The room's unsavory odor and lack of cleanliness, particularly the presence of mold in the grout lines, made it an uncomfortable and unpleasant stay. I strongly advise potential guests to consider other accommodation options to avoid similar issues. Do your self a favor spend an extra 50 bucks and stay in a real hotel ...

Service sucked for lack of words. They don't care about anything but making it through a shift to get their paycheck. It's sad. Found 2 dead roaches in my room. Location was the plus. They took deposits that weren't returned. Only thing I can say is Location Location Location....

Stayed here to visit friends thought it was in downtown so we could walk places but its not walking distance but close enough to take a cheap uber. The room was clean and everyone was nice. Would stay again. A suggestion would be to add breakfast though.

I stay at many hotel/motels each year. Maybe 40 plus each year. At this Red Roof is the first time I have ever seen COCKROACHES. On the wall by the bathroom sink I killed all I could and brought evidence to the front desk. They hardly looked at the evidence and said "yes". Not a happy customer, will be very sceptical about staying at a red roof again Yes they offered compensation but 10% does not make me a happy person.

Had an amazing stay over the weekend for an anime convention! Hotel staff happily accepted the arrival of several packages which was extremely helpful as I was a vendor for the event downtown! Additionally, they went above and beyond in making sure I had what I needed! De’ Asia was especially helpful!

Not sure how this hotel has 2 stars, when it barely should have 1. Upon arrival of this hotel, we arrived 20 mins prior to check in time. Front desk staff proceeded to tell us to come back in an hour for a different representative since they did not know how to check people in. When checked in, the room itself smelt moldy and musty. The room given had a hardly cleaned handicapped bathroom, where neither of us guests were handicapped, making it completely unnecessary. When asking a simple question of is there breakfast in the morning we get a response of “we got coffee take it or leave it”. And to top off this horrible experience housekeeping decided to take home a very expensive jacket that was accidentally left on the bed prior to check out. Normally hotels put things in lost in found but apparently this is a five finger discount hotel which could be expected from a 2 star hotel. After calling twice to retrieve jacket and speaking to front desk no refund was offered to make up for the stolen jacket or bad stay only “if we happen to find it you’ll have to mail us a box to send it back in” Don’t recommend anyone staying here.

The room was unclean and had a faint smell of animal urine. Some detergent or disinfectant used on the bed linens caused my skin to badly break out. The front desk staff was rude and clearly disinterested in their job. The hotel charged me more than the Hotwire rate that I booked, claiming that the extra amount was for incidentals. However despite having no incidentals the hotel overcharged nonetheless.

I stay in 30+ motels a year for my job, this had to be the worst experience I have ever had in my life. Horrible rooms and even worse customer service. One employee in the whole motel and she refuses to do her job. Tried to check out, asked for a receipt and she literally looked me in my face and said no I don't feel like it.

Couldn't complain for a low star hotel although room price was high for the low star quality. I did not find anything gross nor dirty. I always check sheets, bedding before sitting on bed appeared clean. Parking is insufficient though.

Staff Ms. DeAsia was very friendly (front desk staff). She was very helpful during my entire stay. I am from Malaysia and came here for a conference. Again, thank you so much for the hospitality. Free coffee from 6am to 12pm.

I extended my stay here twice . The staff is somewhat helpful depends on the mood. There is one super sweet receptionist. Didn't get her name. But make sure u get a room on a pet free floor if u want cleaner rooms ..I originally changed my review for several reasons..

The hotel was a short distance from downtown, had easy, accessibility and very good pricing. The room was clean, but worn. The bathroom door looked like it had been kicked in and of the safe didn’t work. Other than that great experience will definitely stay again.

No pet fees. Very rare to find. Most places claim to be pet friendly but charge fees sometimes in excess of the room charge. Hats off to Red Roof. Large clean room. Towels nice and thick. Could have used a few more. A refrigerator and microwave would have been nice. A coffee set up too. In room dining offered but didn’t use it. Price can’t be beat. Now for the bad news. Just because a hotel is economical doesn’t mean it can let the basics slide. Simple things need attention. The light over the sink was out. Battery cover missing in the TV remote. Damage in the hall and elevator needs touch up. Ice machine out. Fix these and you get a five star. Small thing turn into big things and next thing you know you’ve got a slum. I’ll check back in a year or two to see which way it goes.

Other then a decent clean bed with good pillows, the room I stayed in, wasnt very comfortable, ESPECIALLY for $100. The entire place smells like old carpets/rugs that hardly ever get vacuumed, and have never been shampooed. In the room, several outlets not working, NO refrigerator as promised, small bathroom (a shower & toilet)no mirror, nor any ventilation. It had an uncomfortable, very unusual sink on top of a counter without any space for your things, which is also placed right by the door, so whatever Ur doing can clearly be heard in the hall... No coffee or tea in the coffee & tea lounge because they dont even have water for either making sure no one uses the amenity, THEY offer. It appears they dont want to have to service/clean up the area. Like how much does it take to handle that? Lazy and very cheap is what Ive come to realize being there. Its pretty sad...

Basic hotel with a comfy bed. No breakfast offered and coffee was very weak, had to bypass the lobby each morning to go purchase it myself. The bed was clean, room was fairly clean but there was a leak in the shower tub and the AC/fridge had a smell which was very distracting. I've stayed in worse.

  • 4/5 Andre M. 2 years ago on Google
Liked the price and the staff / service here. All though the rooms would have been better if they had a refrigerator and microwave. Their was a noisy group of customers on my floor. But the management can't be blamed for that.
