Rameshwaram is one of the jyotirling out of 12 auspicious jyotirling. It has great importance as it is said it was established by Lord Rama himself then began to build Ramsetu to Lanka. Sea here is literally blue in color. Water is so clean. If travelling on your own go for early morning darshan. Hotels near temple costs around 600/- for non AC and for AC rooms 1500/- For sightseeing in the morning there are share autos costs 300/- per person. You can book full auto for around 800/- Sightseeing covers Dhanushkodi, Ghost town church remain,Bibhshan temple, Ram ki pedhi, floating rocks, Kalam house and few more temples. Rameswaram is one of the beautiful place in India. It is having beach and must visit one.No words can describe the feeling about the temple.one of the 4 dhaama and also one of the 12 jyotirlinga Shri Ramanathswamy Temple gives an experience like none. Prior to the darshan one has to take a splash from the 22 different wells to have a pure mind and soul before one gets to see the deity. The temple architecture is no less than the experience, the world famous third corridor is a unique place in itself.Very beautiful temple and ancient architecture. Must visit one.

Dating back to Ramayana yuga, it's one of the 12 joythir linga. It's is the place were lord Rama made Lord Shiva from sand and worshiped before going Lanka. The temple is very big. The procedure is take a dip in the sea first and take a bath from all 22 wells inside the temple. And then take the darshan of lord Shiva. It's cost around 25rs for taking bath from all 22 Wells inside the temple. Temple will close at 1 pm and again opens at 4 pm. Don't miss the Pamban bridge from the train. Its a Awsome experience.

Rameshwaram The foremost Place to Visit in Rameshwaram, Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple is one of the few temples in the world constructed with Dravidian style architecture. It is widely famous for its lingas which are formed with various materials like stone, salt, sand etc. and its pools which were said to be 112 in the past but have now reduced to just 12. Boasting of one of the most pillared corridors in the world, it is definitely the best Rameshwaram Tourist Places visited. . The seaside town of Rameshwaram, in Tamil Nadu, is noteworthy for being the place in India that's closest to neighboring Sri Lanka. It sits on Pamban Island in the Gulf of Munnar, just off the Indian mainland at the tip of the Indian Peninsula. Rameshwaram is also a popular pilgrimage destination. The town has special significance to Hindus as one of the holy Char Dham—the four sacred abodes associated with incarnations of Lord Vishnu. According to mythology, Lord Ram (the seventh incarnation of Vishnu) built a bridge from Rameshwaram to Sri Lanka to rescue his wife, Sita, from the evil clutches of demon king Ravan. Hindus believe visiting all the Char Dham will help them achieve moksha (liberation from rebirth).

The temple's construction dates back to the 12th century, with later additions in the 17th century. Location: The temple is located on Rameswaram Island in the Gulf of Mannar, connected to the mainland by the Pamban Bridge. Distance from Different Main Cities: - Chennai to Rameswaram: Approximately 570 km (via NH32) - Madurai to Rameswaram: Approximately 170 km (via NH87) - Bangalore to Rameswaram: Approximately 570 km (via NH44 and NH87) Communication: Rameswaram is well-connected by road and rail. Pamban Bridge:An engineering marvel that connects Rameswaram Island to the mainland, offering breathtaking views of the sea. 5. **Rama Setu (Adam's Bridge): A chain of limestone shoals between Pamban Island, also known as Rameswaram Island, also believed to be the remnants of the ancient bridge built by Lord Rama's army to reach Sri Lanka. 22 Holy Wells: The temple complex houses 22 holy wells, each with water having different tastes and mineral properties. Pilgrims traditionally visit these wells to purify themselves before entering the temple. Remember, while visiting religious places, it's essential to respect the customs and traditions of the local people. Enjoy your trip to Rameswaram!

This is one of the sacred temples for Hindus and is among Jyotirling. The structure itself is jaw-dropping. One has to see to believe what our ancestors achieved centuries ago without much technology and science. Apart from structure, you feel sea of positive vibes as soon as you enter. There are 1000s of devotees anytime offering prayers with selfless believe. This is true beauty of our culture. People from all section of society just having a belief in lord Shiva and they know they are being taken care by higher power. Unreal and majestic is this temple. I wish to come again someday in my life .

Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple This is again an amazing temple .. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. So much of crowd. First thing what u need to do is early morning around 6.00 am you need to go to Agni teertham After wich it's better you have a locker room to keep your belongings After this you need to go to 22 teerthams Mahalakshmi theertham, Kenthamadana theertham, Savitri theertham, Brahmahathi theertham, Gayathri theertham, Ganga theertham, Saraswathi theertham, Yamuna theertham, Sangu theertham, Gaya theertham, Sakkara theertham, Sarva theertham, Sethu Madhavar theertham, Siva theertham, Nala theertham, Saadyamamirtha theertham, Nilaa theertham, Surya theertham, Kavayaa theertham, Chandra theertham, Kavatcha theertham and Kodi theertham. The ticket for entry is 25rs Saddest part seen here is if you pay extra money they will put theertha nicely on you which was really bad . I mean i could see many common people fighting and shouting there The management is really poor. The people inside are really not good humans Just behind money which is very bad especially in a holy place No doubt the temple is having an amazing cooridor It is mentioned no phones to be carried but the security check is so poor that almost all had phones and where making videos and clicking photos Avoid autos ….use government bus So i would rate Temple 5 star Management 1 star Security check 1 star

One of the four Dhams and one of the twelve Jyotir linga temple. It is believed that visiting these sites helps achieve moksha (salvation). The four Dhams are, Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri and Rameswaram. It is believed that every Hindu should visit the Char Dhams during one's lifetime. The Char Dham as defined by Adi Shankaracharya consists of four Hindu pilgrimage sites. According to Hindu ancient vedas, Lord Ram had built a bridge from here across the sea to Lanka to rescue his wife Sita from her abductor Ravana. The Temple, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, is at the centre of the town and is closely associated with Rama and Shiva. The temple and the town are considered a holy pilgrimage site for Shaivas and Vaishnavas. Ramanathaswamy Temple (Rāmanātasvāmi Kōyil) is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located on Rameswaram island in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where three of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar and Tirugnana Sambandar, have glorified the temple with their songs. The temple was expanded during the 12th century by the Pandya Dynasty, and its principal shrine’s sanctum was renovated by Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and his successor Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan, monarchs of the Jaffna kingdom. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India. It was built by King Muthuramalinga Sethupathiy. [1] [2] The temple, located in Rameswaram, is considered a holy pilgrimage site for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smarthas.

Rameshwar Temple is located on the island of Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. This temple is very huge and known for its exquisite architecture and the very long corridors. This is one of Jyothirlinga temples. The Jyothirlinga temples are believed to be the places where Lord Shiva appeared as a fiery column of light. There are 12 Jyothirlinga temples in India which are: - Rameshwar Temple, TN - Mallikarjuna Temple, AP - Bhimashankar Temple, MH - Trimbakeshwar Temple, MH - Ghrishneshwar Temple, MH - Omkareshwar Temple, MP - Mahakaleshwar Temple, MP - Somnath Temple, GJ - Nageshwar Temple, GJ - Kashi Vishwanath Temple, UP - Baidyanath Temple, JH - Kedarnath Temple, UK We have done our blessed Darshan and organized Abhishekam with the help of a local guide/pandit. You have pay them enough to ensure that you will have a divine experience of Rameshwar Darshan and abhishekam. Although we had our Darshan in the evening, we recommend you to have a morning Darshan. The pandit will take you to the Agnitheertham for you to take dip and start your path of purification. After that, the pandit will take you to the 22 Theerthams and will pour water from each Theertham to you in the following sequence: 1. Mahalakshmi theertham, 2. Kenthamadana theertham, 3. Savitri theertham, 4. Brahmahathi theertham, 5. Gayathri theertham, 6. Ganga theertham, 7. Saraswathi theertham, 8. Yamuna theertham, 9. Sangu theertham, 10. Gaya theertham, 11. Sakkara theertham, 12. Sarva theertham, 13. Sethu Madhavar theertham, 14. Siva theertham, 15. Nala theertham, 16. Saadyamamirtha theertham, 17. Nilaa theertham, 18. Surya theertham, 19. Kavayaa theertham, 20. Chandra theertham, 21. Kavatcha theertham and 22. Kodi Theertham There are facilities for changing the wet clothes and then you proceed to the Rameshwar Sannidhi. The monolithic bull in front of the Ramanatha Swamy is really huge. You seek the permission to see the Lord from the bull and then forget every thing and say Om Namashivaya to have your divine Darshan and see the abhishekam. There are two lingams inside the sanctum - one built by Sita matha and worshipped by Lord Rama. Another linga which is believed to be brought by Lord Hanuman from Kailash, called Viswalingam. The temple complex is really huge so don’t miss visiting the shrines of Ammal, Ganesha, Vishnu, Anjaneya and the Samadhi of the great Yogi Patanjalai. A must visit temple and a life changing experience.

One of the major dhams out of the four dedicated dhams in Hinduism. This is a temple built around the shivalingam made hy maa sita using sand and worshipped by lord rama to atone for the sin of killing a brahmin ravana. Built by the pandyas in 12th century, this has some of the biggest mandapas, gopuramas and the longest corridor amongst all hindu temples. After bathing in bay of bengal, go towards agniteertham which means purifying yourself with water from 22 wells and then head towards the sanctum sanctorum of lord shiva. Whole place is vibrant with the devotees. Facilities aren’t there because the crows are unmanageable. It is also one of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord shiva. Must visit by every Hindu. Om namah shivaya!!!

The primary deity of the temple is Ramanathaswamy (Shiva) in the form of lingam. There are two lingams inside the sanctum - According to tradition, one built by Rama from sand, residing as the main deity, called the Ramalingam, and the one brought by Hanuman from Kailash, called the Vishvalingam.Rama is said to have instructed that the Vishvalingam be worshipped first since it was brought by Hanuman - the tradition continues even today. Like all ancient temples in South India, there is a high compound wall (madil) on all four sides of the temple premises measuring about 865 feet furlong from east to west and one furlong of 657 feet from north to south with huge towers (Gopurams) to the east and the west and finished gate towers to the north and south. The temple has striking long corridors in its interior, running between huge colonnades on platforms above five feet high. The second corridor is formed by sandstone pillars, beams, and ceiling. The junction of the third corridor on the west and the paved way leading from the western gopuram to the Setumadhava shrine forms a unique structure in the form of a chess board, popularly known as Chokkattan Madapam, where the Utsava deities are adorned and kept during the Vasanthotsavam (Spring festival) and on the 6th day festival in Adi (July–August) and Masi (February–March) conducted by the Sethupathi of Ramnad. The outer set of corridors is reputed to be the longest in the world, measuring about 6.9 m in height, 400 feet each in the east and west and about 640 feet in the north and the south. The inner corridors are about 224 feet each in the east and the west and about 352 feet each in the north and the south.[9] Their width varies from 15.5 feet to 17 feet in the east and west about 172 feet on the north and south with width varying 14.5 feet to 17 feet. The total length of these corridors is thus 3850 feet. There are about 1212 pillars in the outer corridor. Their height is about 30 feet from the floor to the center of the roof. The main tower or rajagopuram is 53 m tall. Most pillars are carved with individual compositions. At the beginning, Ramanathaswamy Temple was a thatched shed. The present structure was the work of many individuals spread over a number of centuries. The pride of place in the establishment of the Temple goes to the Setupatis of Ramanathapuram. In the seventeenth century, Dalavai Setupati built a portion of the main eastern Gopuram. In the late eighteenth century, the world-famous third corridor was constructed by Muthuramalinga Setupati who lived for forty-nine years and ruled between 1763 and 1795. The corridor was called "Chokkatan Mandapam". The Mukhya Pradhani (Chief Minister) was Muthuirullappa Pillai and the Chinna Pradhani (Deputy Chief Minister) was Krishna Iyengar. The Setupati's statue and those of his two Pradhanis (ministers) can be seen at the western entrance to the third corridor.

An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is one of the holiest places for Hindus and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. There is a separate entrance for taking bath in the 22 wells. Cellphones are not permitted; hence you cannot take pictures of the long corridoors and the striking sculpture and architecture. The temple interiors are well maintained but the neighbouring alleys are dirty

Best to visit early morning get bath in the sea shore change your clothes and visit the temple for dharisana. The first dharshana will be easy to visit if you take children with you, because it won't take that longer time to get into the temple and see the first dharsana Better wait for atleast 30 mins and after the dharisana you can go the the shore for watching sunrise and have breakfast near by hotel.

Excellent place to visit for every devotee of Lord Shiva and Rama. It's all about Lord Rama after his return from Srilanka ( Killing Ravana ) worshipped Lord Shiva and thus this temple was originated. Just like Varanasi, Rameshwaram is also a holy place and devotee from all over India and world visit this place. Congratulations to the management for keeping this place neat and clean. Request if they can clean everyday the Agni Thirtham area also then it would be great.
