Clean sea, can take bath peacefully. Can get crowded during the season. Search for a hotel with walkable distance if you're traveling with a small group. Either you may go to hotel to change or visit the temple for 22 wells bath from here.

Nice place to visit it's a holy temple. Agni theertham beach is clean and peaceful in evening. Reasonable Lodges, auto, hotel foods street foods fares. Spend two days and visit all places in Rameswaram in normal budget.

Holy place as far as Hindu devotees are concerned. Calm and quiet sea . Can walk bit far as if in a river . Temple staff are cleaning the place now and then to make it tidy, but i feel it is the responsibility of devotees to maje sure they are not littered the place. So many priests are available there, with a reasonable price you can have the rites performed there. They have provided mats to make the steps non slippery, but due to algae growth over the years, some places are slippery and need to be careful. Its beautiful in the morning and evening.

Hindu holy place. The sea is not deep here. You can move meters from the shore without fear. Only problem is there are many pieces of cloth wastes in the sea. The authorities is not cleaning the shore. You have to use paid parking some distance before the place. There is tasty panipuri available on the small shops along the shore. If you like this review, please like and comment. Thank you.

Obviously clean sea water but very poor management of this Holi heritage site… beach should be clean.. which wasn’t…I wasn’t expecting this type of beach… govt should take mandatory steps towards this.. why only Goa, Pondi, Mumbai beaches should hv all the fun and attraction.. India is such a beautiful country and can generate a huge amount of revenue if they manage tourism well. And especially these holy places must be taken care of. I saw bed mattress, diapers, pillows floating🙄🙄in sea water .. God knows what else is there.. but I have only nice pics, which I am posting here..but evening and night walk was the best part here… at night waves, moon, moonlight, cool wind create another level of peace and beauty 🥰

It was a nice sunrise and sunset experience. Not exceptional but pleasant. Bathing here was reasonably facilitated by the steps into the water which is not very deep so you have to nearly kneel to cover yourself from head to toe. Coffee sellers start from sunrise. Walking to East Gate is quick and can also walk (while wet) to North Gate for the next step of 22 wells/teertham bathing from the other end but takes longer. Might be easiest just to walk to East Gate and walk around to the North. Can find mobile/bag/shoes lockers at all gates. Lots of people take their dry clothes in tightly sealed bags so you can change after the wells (Rs 25 per person) Supposed to be mostly dry to do Darshan. Changing area for women is private but open air so plan accordingly. Lots of people stay in hotels nearby so they just change in their rooms. There are places with sign boards for changing nearby if you don't like the changing facilities in the temple. You can change and then go for the Darshan. Normal Darshan line / Rs 100 / Rs 200 just changes speed. Take a look at the length of the line. Weekends and special holidays are busiest. Later in the afternoon or weekdays it's relatively quiet. A small ferry takes you out around the bay. No views of Sri Lanka!

One of the first places to visit while visiting the Swamy Temple. First take a bath at the sea at Agni Teertham. It's clean and maintained. After that take a bath with the well water and then after changing clothes visit the temple. This is the process. You have to go by walk as vehicles are not allowed and it's hardly 200 metres from the road (from temple) Agni Tirtham is one of the Tirthas of Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, India. The beach east of Ramanathaswamy Temple is known by this name. This Tirtham is one of the most visited Tirthams of Rameswaram for a holy bath.

This place is the, best tribute to the all time great legend. Everything is well covered and well portrayed at this place. Must visit and well maintained and very silent place. The most beautiful and highlighted thing over here is the medals which they have received and the backpack he is carrying for there last trip, you can get to see there. Go and experience the legendary life.

So last week I went to Rameswaram and I visited this beautiful place. No one can really dislike our former President memorial. Three years ago this place was of small small hut but now it's such a heaven. They maintained the place really well. You can never see a garbage or waste particle. Such a cleanest place as how our Former President wished our India to be. They have super security to guard this place. Mobile phones are not allowed inside like we are suppose to switch it off. And outside the memorial we can click pictures. Inside we can see the photograph of his work, life, and social life. We can see the transformation of Sir, from younger to President level. They have also displayed the clothes and his books, gadget he used in his last period. They have cute cute statue of Sir along with national and international people. And mostly statues of children. We all know sir loved children and you can see here. This is a 1000% must place to visit for every Indian, every human in this whole world.

Agni theertham is the first theertham to visit before the devotees go and visit Rameswaram temple. Rameswaram sea shore in front of the ramanathasamy temple is called the Agni theertham.highly polluted due to overwhelming crowd. Best place to view sunrise.

The monument is temporarily closed due to covid-19! After speaking with security personnel there the information regarding the opening of the monument is currently not available. So if you plan to visit Rameswaram, please get some local information regarding the opening of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam memorial. Awaiting for a chance to know more about the missile man from his birth place.

Unclean, dirty and unkempt place with nobody cleaning anything at least the time was I was in the city. I am surprised by the pathetic state of this place and even the Rameswaram temple. This place being such a huge pilgrimage and the way it has been kept is criminal. I would far enough to tell people not to visit as the visit broke my dreams that I had for this place. Other temples and beaches were also pathetic in the city.

Rameshwaram is considered as one of the twelve jyotirlingas. And here is Agni Theertham ghat, where before visiting the temple, devotees take bath and then if you want to take bath with the holy water of 22 kunds, go straight to the north gate of the temple.. buy a ticket worth of rs.25 to take bath over there. Btw Agni Theertham is at the eastern side of the temple.

Agni tirtham is the holy dip in the ocean at Rameshwaram which is done first before visiting the temple People also do Pitris Puja or prayer to the ancestors here specially on amavasya days. This sacred location in front of East entrance of Sri Ramanatha swamy temple where every pilgrim will have dip in the sea and then have holy bath with waters out of 22 sacred wells situated inside the main temple. This is actually the name given to the part of the bay of bengal that touches Rameswaram close to the Ramanathaswamy Temple.

Must visit when in Rameshwaram. One of the most Sacred beaches. It is believed that one should take a bath in Agniteertham first and then to the 22 wells near the Rameshwar temple so as to let go of the sins.

  • 5/5 Pooja C. 1 year ago on Google
One of the popular theertham in Rameshwaram, Agnitheertham is also associated with Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. According to the legend, after the Lanka war, lord Rama before praying to Lord Shiva as a penance had taken bath in this theertham. There is one more legend, according to which, it is here when Goddess Sita had entered the fire, when doubts were raised on her chastity as she had stayed in demon Ravana confinement. She was unhurt and Lord Angi appeared to prove the pureness of Goddess Sita. However, as he had touched Goddess, he prayed Lord Shiva to atone his sins. It is then he had taken bath here. Hence, it is believed that taking a dip in the holy waters of Agnitheertham relive devotees of their past sins.
