Happened to see the historic place and loved the sea shore with clear water . Place where Lord Ram quenched Goddess Sita thirst .....it's said the water tastes different every time you drink it. Kids were happy to get into sea as it was very clear and great view to dive in.

It's a fine theertham near Rameswaram. It is believed that Lord Sree Ram built this well by shooting an arrow shot on the ground to quench the thirst of Sita. Very nicely preserved. In fact, we tasted this water in well and it was sweet and said to be sacred water amid salt water in surrounding back water of sea.

A holy place that deserves a visit. Theertham in the well contains drinkable water even though it is surrounded by sea. Calm and peaceful, less no of visitors. Clear water, good place for bathing 8km away from Rameswaram, on the way to mandapam. Take a taxi or auto tour to reach here. Conjested parking

Serene and tranquil place. Surprised to see almost no crowd on a long weekend. This well is surrounded by crystal clear sea. Make sure to give Dakshina to the person who lifts the water :)

This place has a relationship with the "Ramayan". When Seeta mata was thirsty, at that time Prabhu Shri Ram dug a hole on the shore to get drinkable water which is still available in the form of water well. The water from the well remains normal for 6 months while for the rest of the 6 months you can feel a bit of saltyness in it. The atmosphere is good with good vibes at this place.

This place is known to be the well which Lord Rama created to quench Sita's thirst. According to stories, with one thud of his bow on the land, a fresh water well was formed in the midst of the salt water seas. We got an opportunity to drink from the well and surprisingly the water wasn't salty, unlike the sea water around it. The place was also isolated from the human population and it was excellent watching the sunset from the place. The water was also clear and blue ! It was a calm and serene place to visit !

A quiet place where you can get the spiritual feel. It has a well(for theertham) and a small Sivan temple nearby. And this place have a nice view point from where you can see the sea to the fullest. It was nice walking in the beach here where you can find all shapes of corals

Very peaceful and beautiful place.. The most interesting part of this place is the well/kund which is just above the ocean and is fully covered with sea water yet the water of that well is drinkable. I had doubt about the water so I even drank it and it was actually drinkable. I was confused, fascinated and surprised. Must visit this place and experience the taste of water and the view.

Very calm and serene place This place offers some stunningly beautiful and dramatic views of the sea. Incidentally, the place is named Villondi or 'buried bow' as it is believed to be the place where Lord Rama buried his bow and arrow. A long platform leads you to this holy well and it is magical to walk on it as you see the sea from both the sides. The water in the well is quite mysteriously sweet in spite of being surrounded by salt sea water all around and devotees believe it will do them good if they take a sip of this holy water.

This place is calm & peaceful. The sound of waves hitting the shore is music to the ears. Also, the sea water is clean here. Not crowded. The well has perfectly drinkable water even though it is surrounded by sea on all sides. There's a small temple on the shore.

One of the eye catching locations in Rameswaram. This well is situated on sea beach even though the water of well is sweet where sea water u is s very salty. According to local when goddess Sita and lord rama were coming back from Lanka, goddess Sita was thirsty and lord Rama, with his bow and arrow made this well. And hence the water is sweet. PS : as of now I’ve find ant references in Ram charitra manas. We don’t require to pay for parking and no entry fee required here.

Good place to visit. Narrow road to reach this place. Suggest to visit post lunch hours. One can sit there and just relax in a shed. Beautiful beach. Must experience holy water from the well.

The cleanest beach to be seen in all of Rameshwaram, the story behind this place was when Sita maa was thirsty, Shri Ram ji took his arrow to dig the well between the ocean. The well contains drinkable sweet water while surrounded by the salty ocean water.

Located 6 kms from Rameswaram, the place is best known for its sweet clean water. This is the place where Lord Rama quenched the thirst of Sita by dipping the bow into the sea. Villoondhi Theertham Rameswaram is one of the most underrated and unexplored spot by tourists, as many do not the significance of a sweet water well surrounded by sea. Apart from this great sight, a small shrine of Shiva is located and the name of the Shiva Linga is called Thrayambakeshvarar, which is also a must to see.

A place of historic significance in Rameshwaram . There is limited parking facility. There is one person who takes pictures here if required . He gets behind your for tips even for just a random talk. So make sure you avoid the guide/ photographer here.

A good place to visit for tourist visiting Rameshwaram. It hardly takes 30-40mins to have a look at this place. This place has a great history of Rama and Sita. The water colour of the beach is quite interesting. Had multiple colors for water (light blue, dark blue in some places). Worth visit for this place.

This area is tranquil and serene. It is soothing to hear the sound of waves crashing on the shore. Additionally, the seawater is pure here, Despite being surrounded by sea water on all sides, the well offers water that is absolutely fit for drinking. On the shore is a little temple

This is a small well, situated not far from the main road after entering Rameswaram from the Pamban Bridge. A place where Rama is said to have pierced an arrow on the ground to obtain fresh water to quench Sita's thirst. Just adjacent to this well is the salty water of the Bay of Bengal and it is unbelievable that this water is drinkable water! Amazing!

This is a well in the midst of the sea, delivering normal non salty potable water to drink. It was said that Lord Rama created this well with his bow, when Sita was very thirsty. Very cool and calm place. Must visit, if you are nearby

Science always doesn't have all the answers and this place proves it. A sweet water well right in the center of the sea, surrounded by salt water is a mystery in its own. There is a long bridge that goes towards the sea and there is a well at the end of it.

  • 5/5 vishnu 5 months ago on Google
The sea is a little aggressive and salty during the rainy season, and sometimes the sea is silent without a single wave.you can walk long distances through sea, water is crystal clear.Villondi theertham is less salty compared to sea water.

This palace is very must visited palace as per history When Sita said she was thirsty, Rama shot an arrow into the sea, and from there emerged a spring bringing forth pure water. The Shiva lingam is named Thryambakeshvarar, and there is a Shiva shrine near Villoondi Theertham. Villoondi translates to “the place pierced by the arrow” and Theertham means “sacred water”. Very beautiful palace every one must have to visit

Awesome beach..one of the cleanest beaches of India. Can have fun there with friends and family. You will just love the beach at any cost. Worth it. Don't go for Kayaking there as it will be a very short one and you'll regret later. Better go for only floating package and try to go some deep inside. You will feel amazing. Thanks.
