Thirupullani Shri Aadhu Jagannatha Perumal Kovil is a divya desam and probably only temple where Shri Ramar is in sayana position. This temple has connection to Ramayanam and has great history. Here Shri Ramar prayed for God of Ocean to pave way to go to Sri Lanka. Place is on the way to Rameswaram and has good connections and parking facilities. Must visit temple.

Very nice temple. One of 108 divyadesams and temple has its history related to ramayana. Lord rama has said to have worshipped aadhi jegannatha perumal here and do penance to samuthrarajan (god of ocean). So he is found in slept form (sayana kolam) in this temple. Called as Darba sayana ramar - Ramar sleeping on darbai grass. There is no lakshmana in this shrine, because he is in the form of adhisesha. Also there is sannadhi of pattabhisheka ramar - Majestic lord - Found almost similar to the one that is found in srirangam. Also there is Goshala Main prayer done here is childless couples will get blessings to get children by consuming payasam especially prepared and puja done here. Legend says that father of rama - Dasaratha also done puthra kamesti yaga here to get payasam which is consumed by his wives to give birth of Sari rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha and chatrugna. Also visit sethu karai and uthirakosamangai temples nearby. Got divine experience

very devin and peaceful place. close from 1300 to 1530 hrs...don't visit during this period. significant-god shri Ram stayed 3 days on this place and make plane for how to enter Lanka and strategies for war. The temple is believed to have been built during the late 8th century CE, As per Hindu legend, Rama is believed to have done penance to worship the god of ocean to seek way to Lanka in grass, giving the name Dharbasayanam to the place. as per another legend, Dasharatha, the father of Rama, performed different sacrifices and did a lot of penance to obtain the sacred payasam (sweet pudding). He offered it equally to his three wives, resulting in the birth of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha and Shatrughna. Following the legend, childless couple perform a worship called nagapradishta (installing a statue of snake god) in the temple. Sweet pudding is offered to childless couple praying for a child. It is believed that Adi Jaganatha bestows a child like Rama when such a worship is performed

Adi Jegannatha Perumal temple . Thirupullani.. Divyadesam 44 temple. This temple has its part from the Ramayana period. This is the place where Ramar bent down and worshipped sea god to pave way to lay bridge to Srilanka. Here the main deity is Adi Jagannathar other deities are Darpa sayana Ramar , Pattabisheha Ramar, Santhana Gopala Krishnan. It's a very old temple close to sea and it is around 35kms from Rameshwaram. So people can visit this place whenever you visit Rameshwaram. In this temple they serve payasam in the morning session which is believed to be taken by people who wants to get pregnant. It was believed that Dasarathar had this payasam inorder to get child blessings at this temple, which inturn he was blessed with children.

An excellent and a very old temple dedicated to lord Vishnu and ramar. Has a good parking area nearby The temple is very clean and maintained properly. The temple is very old and the has a good crowd attraction. One must definitely visit if you're on a trip to rameshwaram. This temple is under renovation that doesn't disturb the dharshan. Must visit.

One of the oldest temples depicting our rich culture. Dasharatha is believed to have prayed here and was blessed with Rama as his son. Sometime ago there wasn't any cow for the temple's needs. Thanks to many, who have done Go dhana there are a lot of cows and calves inside the temple premises itself. But now the authorities are having a tough time as they don't have enough funds to maintain them all. Good Samaritans can sponsor their fodder, hay , etc

The temple is believed to have been built during the late 8th century CE, with later contributions from Medieval Cholas, later Pandyas, Sethupathi Kings of Ramnad. As per Hindu legend, Rama is believed to have done penance to worship the god of ocean to seek way to Lanka in grass, giving the name Dharbasayanam to the place. The temple is maintained and administered by the Ramanathapuram Samasthan Devasthanam a Trust under the control of the Ramnad King Sethupathi successor and at present Her Highness the Queen Raja Rajeswari Natchiyar as Hereditary Trustee and the accounts were audited by Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Located near ramanathapuram in a place called thirupullani..This is the place were lord ram's father prayed for a progeny. And this is place where there are 2 separate shrine in which lord ram is in darbha sayana without sita and other one with sita before and after the abduction of mother sita and the killing of ravana. Much visit place for all the devotees and get ready for any Saturdays which will see more rush in the temple which will make the darshan worth while.

Amazing temple. Place has significance in mythology. Ask locals/guide about the Ramayana reference to the place. Magnificent sculptures of deities. Only place where Lord Rama is seen in lying down position. Temple's tank is full of water. But shockingly people have managed to litter the area. Paid parking available.

This place is on the outskirts of Srirangam. This is one of the ancient temples dedicated to Aadhi Jagannath perumal. Sri Ramachandra came here to pray to Aadhi Jagannath to find Seetha Devi. He sits on meditation on Sea personified Varuna deva to give way to Lanka to rescue Seetha mata from the clutches of Ravana. Varuna did not give Darshan after the third day Sri Ramachandra got angry at the sea personified sea stats agitating by his anger the sea personified Varuna appeared and begged forgiveness from the Lord then he gave permission to build a bridge on sea to cross over to Lanka. This was the past time at this place. Sri. Rama Chandra deities are also seen there.
