Temple History: About 700 years ago, the sages Patchinaduruwan and Dakshinaduruwan went to Thazhai Forest while on the way to Danushkodi. One fine day, a sound from the sky ordered them to perform penance in the forest, and accordingly, they meditated and did poojas. On the 48th day, Parvathi Devi appeared as a small girl as Dakshina Kali. Later named as Nambu Nayagi Amman. Come to this temple once with complete trust in Nambu Nayagi Amman and convey your request (prayer) to her. Definitely, it will happen. Once after that, come back to the temple and do something whatever you can. Inside the temple: Once you enter the temple, convey your request to the Priest. He will do the pooja, and finally, he will pass your request to Nambu Nayagi Amman. Meantime, you pray for the request to make it happen. The priest will give you a small bit of manjal to eat (sarvaroganivarani) after the Pooja. Then you walk around the temple and go to worship other gods. How to Reach Temple? You can reach this temple by Car (or) Auto. It is located on the way to Danushkodi (5 Km from Rameswaram). No Buses Available Travel by Car (or) Auto Temple Timings: Open the entire day

Shri Nambunayaki temple on the way to Dhanushkodi from Rameshwaram is a 500 year old temple with inculcating lot of faith and beliefs among devotees. Goddess Parvadhavardhini is sitting prettily as a main diety in temple shrouded by peace as also far away from nearby village. In 1964 , cyclone devastated the temple and subsequently, shifted to present place. Significant and highlight of this temple different from all others is that believed this powerful goddess cures infectious diseases of whom visit with offering abhishekam and in return offer Vastras. Turmeric Prasadam pasted on diety given by priest here cures especially stomach diseases. Legend says that two rishis adopted severe penace here and goddess offered her blessings. They in turn treated local people with miraculous treatment. Sacred springs nearby believed to have medicinal properties too. Just by the side of this temple, a old big banayan tree offer shade and solace to devotees. Childless couple and disturbed marriage people pray and offer piece of cloth with tying them on branches. Also known as goddess of protection facing Southern direction. Ganesha temple is also existing by side.

The goddess is one of the Guardian gods of ramanathaswamy temple for South direction.... The goddess is believed to be sister of goddess bhadrakali of rameswaram... The location is isolated from settlements almost it's a sacred groove with sand dunes that are sometimes as high as a coconut tree.... The goddess here the family deity for a large number of people

I would say, one of the best place to visit in Rameswaram. We came here for a ritual reason all the way down south. We didnt expect this place would be so great. I felt a great vibe on seeing the location of the temple. I promise those whose come here, their heart will crave to halt there for half a day and enjoy the atmosphere and air. The sand dunes, The big Banyan tree, the bells of prayers, the temple are really a good thing that soothes your soul if you stay there for a while. One day, I might go over and sit there alone read or write any novel. Note: Nearby there won't be any shops to buy even snacks and food. Whatever you need, you need to carry along with you. Else you have to travel 2-3 kms west or east to buy anything.
