One of the most beautiful hermitages at the foot of the mountains. Here you find a special tranquility, and the hermits from this hermitage are welcoming people. The access road from Pahomie is quite ok, and the fact that you can't get there by car makes people a little nervous.

A place with a special burden... the old hermitage with its story and the new church built with a lot of effort, the donkeys carry the heavy burdens here... it's hard but it's beautiful. The monks' houses scattered around. quiet and peace. From here the sky is closer ... the paths lead to hermitage and lift your soul. You don't have to look for something spectacular... what is simple and apparently insignificant is the gift you will receive and you will feel joy... I climbed on 01.01.2022 on the route that starts from the village of Bărbăți, easy - medium level of difficulty. I recommend appropriate equipment, trekking boots/boots, trekking poles, windproof jacket, raincoat.

At the foot of the Buila-Vanturarita massif, this hermitage is an oasis of tranquility and peace. I arrived here again after 5 years, also passing through, on a hike. We found it more extensive, more visited and this time various domestic animals happily welcomed us: several fluffy cats, of course the puppies but also two draft horses and a bunch of donkeys.

It is impressive how such a large construction could be built at an altitude of over 1,000 meters. The place is isolated, it gets hard to reach it on the slopes. You have good telephone/internet signal here and the view of the mountain is brilliant. If you are a male, you can dine here at the monastery. Females are not allowed to stay over the night due to religious reasons.

It can only be reached on foot, either from the Pahomie Hermitage or from the village of Barbatesti. The road is not very easy, but it is worth it once you reach the Monastery!
