Visited in the summer of 2021 by motorcycle from Bâlea Lac.

Dam and the lake is beautiful and very impressive. It is free to walk around and visit it because it is sitting right on the highway. Very crowded and might be traffic jams nearby. Hard to find parking. Too bad they don’t let people upstairs the tower for super view of the lake. There is security guard watching the dam.

Beautiful lake where you can enjoy a spectacular landscape and where you can take boat trips to see the entire surroundings.

Interesting stop but no parking around. Very difficult to find one on the road.

I have visited this place in Summer and in Automn. I would suggest visiting it in summer, it's looking green and there's more water in the lake. However it's a definitely a place to visit.

What an absolute gem. Beautiful view, and such an impressive construction. Yes, there were bears but the police reacted quickly and they were bit in the area where people were walking but further down. Plenty of wild dogs in the area too but they’re friendly and just hope for a piece of sausage. Loads of cars are stopping by but you’ll get your time slot too and will be able to see this beauty.

Great panoramic view, also you can find there stairs to get to the observation platform, you can fear a bit during elevation process but it's worth it because panorama you will get there is even better - you will be able to see gorge on the left and the basin on the right.

Spectacular dam, up in the mountains, it’s definitely a must see

A fantastic place, of rare beauty, landscape comparable to those of Austria or Switzerland! Too bad about the filth on the lake that collects at the edge of the dam! I recommend at least one visit a year!

Be careful with the falling rocks and all the bears that climb down the mountain. There are MANY of them (we passed by as a group of motorcycles and they had nothing to do with us). Other than that, beautiful scenery, definitely worth visiting. Just after the dam there’s a very nice treehouse where they serve great and affordable homemade bbq meat. But bring cash.

Absolutely amazing place. The dam is really a masterpiece of modern construction and it's size is astonishing. Enjoyed this place very much. You can even take a boat on the Vidraru Lake near the dam.

Interesting place to check which you can visit if you are crossing Transfagarasan form one side to another. Make sure you park your car properly as I saw police how is watching this.

Vidraru Dam is a dam in Romania. It was completed in 1966 on the Argeș River and creates Lake Vidraru. The arch dam was built with the primary purpose to produce hydroelectricity. The dam's height is 166 metres, the arch length 305 meters and it can store 465 million cubic metres of water. The reservoir has a total shoreline (perimeter) length of 28 km.

Really beautiful place to visit with amazing views. There are places to buy a souvenir and a snack. Parking is free but unorganized, you may find it difficult to park around the dam on weekends. CAUTION Bears in the area. Bears were spotted close to or even at the dam so never approach or feed them. Otherwise a great stop for a picture on your trip here.

Amazing journey up the Transfogarasan which starts really a bit before here. Be aware the European brown bears roam freely just a bit past the public stopping point. They are lovely to see but they cannot be considered friendly, just don't get too close! Views around here are fabulous.

Good place for stop and some sightseeing. Dam which is not much smaller then famous Hoover”s Dam in US.

Awesome place! The head is spinning from height and beauty. It takes a long time to get here, but it's worth it.
