From the official entrance you go up a little bit to the actual entrance to the cave. Ticket was 200 Ron, about $4. The actual length it's said to be about 7 km, but the guided tour is about 700 m. The exit is on the other side of the mountain. You'll see people walking by the road, going back to their cars. Inside is really impressive and you'll have to duck pretty low in some places. Also slippery here and there, so have proper shoes.

Beautiful place, awesome cave and its a true experience. It is a pitty the cave is not open to public at least to 70-80% of it but it is also understandable, you will see why. The food in the area is edible but really poor, the guide is a comunist old man with salty jokes and a tavarisch behaviour, like usual for state owned attractions, but the lady at the counter was very nice and sociable. Be careful, if you pay but are not ready to go in, you will forfeit your money, so bring warm clothes, patience and be determined to visit it. There's also another famous cave nearby so make it a tour since you are there.

Beautiful cave. Note that there are sections where you need to bend very low. Also at the end of the cave, the exit is on the opposite side of the mountain so you will have to walk back to the parking lot (around 700 m).

🔝Worderful #travel #cave #mustsee 👍 📌The Women's Cave is located in Baia de Fier, Gorj County, on the territory of the Getic Depression of Oltenia. The cave was carved into the mesozoic limestones on the southern edge of the Parâng Massif by the Yellow River. With a very rich history, the cave in ancient times sheltered during the wars, when men went to battle, many children and women, from which its name is derived. 💡 It is the first electrified cave in Romania. ℹ️The cave is about 7,000 meters long in 4 levels. The lower level is the speological reserve divided into two sectors: the northern sector (1,500m) and the southern sector (880m). At 40 meters high is the upper floor arranged for tourists with a length of 573 meters, reaches up to the length of 1,228 meters a network of diverticules very difficult to reach, but it is trying to make it so that accessibility is much greater and easier. The Shrine Hall, the Shrine Wave, the Pulpit, the Great Chandelier and the image of the Bloody Rock named due to the leakage of iron oxide. In the 17-m high dome we meet a colony of bats🦇. Several attractions are the Women's Valley, the Big Basins, the Hardened Falls, The Stone Lace, the Gate, the Guano 🦇Hall, the Turkish Hall. A veritable cemetery of skeletal remains of bears, lions, hyenas, foxes, wolves, wild goats and wild boars was found in the Bear Gallery. 💰Entrance fee 20LEI(around 4EUR) ⚠️Low ceiling ...some areas with 130cm height ⚠️Temperature around 10 degree Celsius

Personally, I have never visited a cave like this before. It's beautiful! Perfect to visit in hot days of summer!

There is only half guided tours available every hour, so arriving with 15 minutes after one for example you’ll have to wait another 45 minutes to get inside. This made our trip very crowded and couldn’t listen the silence of the cave. We went in the weekend. Inside the temperature is between 9-12 degrees, would recommend to take a jumper at least. The tour lasts 45 minutes. We went with our 9 months old baby boy. He was carried on the back of his father with a carrier. He enjoyed it as well :). Once I observed how he was reaching out to touch the wall :).

This was a really interesting cave to walk through, full of history from different periods of time. It was really fun! There are a few things to keep in mind though: there are areas where the ceiling is only about 1m tall, so you WILL need to crawl and bend your body a lot. This happens in a handful of areas and for short and long periods of time, so if you have bad knee or back problems, I'd recommend really thinking if you can manage. The tours also happen at specific times, so look at the schedule before going!

Got to visit it, friendly guide, long walk throughout the cave, interesting structures, bats and many more. You will exit the cave near "Pensiunea Tobo". Also, you can only visit it it groups of minimum 4 adults at fixed hours starting from 9:00.

Recommend. It's a beautiful cave and you can visit it without special equipment.

Very exciting and interesting! a real karst cave with stalagmites and stalactites. Good lighting and convenient passage along almost the entire length of the route, only in a few places it is necessary to bend down strongly. please note: - entrance to the route takes place once every hour, - tickets can only be paid in cash. - also keep in mind that the end of the route is on the other side of the mountain and you will have to return to the car on the road.

Great place ! Make sure to park at the exit of the cave, it's a 10 minute walk back to the entrance.

Beautiful cave, some areas you will need to crowl, not crowded, a lot of formations, quote largest, it did take us 35 min to explore it. The downsize, from the exit you have to walk couple of km to get back to the parking lot, nobody told us so we were confused where to go, no signs also.

The guide provided a competent, detailed, yet clear description!

I gave 1 star for the service. Cause the cave definetely is worthing a 5 stars. But to go in a weekend and to find out that groups are formed few times a day, they advertise hourly, but the truth is that is only 1 guide which between tours he rests, smokes, etc... we waited for almost an hour and when we saw that the crowd of waiting visitors increased to 50 persons, we renounced. Because we cannot be so close to the guide and hear explanations and the huge group formed was so big that you loose the entire experience. Bad, very bad organisation, particularly for a weekend day, when people are most likely to visit.

Impressive cave (9 km long), on the Southern slopes of Parang Mountains. There is a roughly 900 m area which can be visited by ordinary tourists. Highly recommended!

Located in the beautiful Peștera Muierilor with a number of good accommodation and restaurants within minutes. The cave forms a maze covering over 8km on four levels. The cave is famous for some of the oldest modern human remains (35,000 years) together with fossilized remains of cave bears, lions, hyenas and wolves. Fabulous setting. We had lunch at the nearby Pensiunea Tobo. Healthy food and good size portions with friendly staff.

The guide doesn't speak any English so it was difficult for us to ask any questions or even understand the whole tour. The cave itself was amazing. For half of the time you have to bend to walk through and the ground is slippery so better not go there in sandals. The tour around the cave takes like 20 minutes and then you have to go back on foot to your car because the exit is on the other side of the mountain.

It is among the most spectacular (if not the MOST spectacular caves that can be visited in Romania. Even though the guided tour shows only a small part of it, as the cave has multiple levels that are not accessible to visitors, the part is still a sight worth seeing. Visitors should know that the exit of the cave is several hundreds of meters downhill, but the walk back.to.the entrance offers a nice view of the surrounding cliffs which are full of climbing amd via ferrata trails. All in all, it is worth the visit and the trip!!!

Very interesting cave, very nice and well set up. Pay attention to the head, often the ceiling height is less than 1.5 meters, along with the attention to take pictures, it's very likely to hit the head. Quite cold inside, 10-11 degree Centigrade, so better to have an extra jacket. I totally recommend visiting it.

It's astoundingly beautiful, an 840 meter walk throught the mountain, There's lots of areas where the ceiling is as low as 1 meter so you'll have to walk in a crouched position. 20 lei for an adult, pee-school children enter free.
