I give the exhibits five stars, but visiting the museum is, frankly, kind of annoying. As I walked into the empty building, a woman rushed up to me repeating the same thing in Romanian over and over. I tried to figure out what she wanted and correctly guessed I needed to buy a ticket. So I gave her 10 lei and she brought me a ticket. And no change, even though it’s only a 4 lei entry fee. She points me upstairs to begin my tour. A second woman emerges from the shadows and begins demanding I buy two more tickets. I show her the physical ticket I’m holding in my hand, and say “I just bought ticket.” She wasn’t having it. After five minutes arguing with her in languages neither of us understood, I finally yelled down to the other lady, and she confirmed that I had already paid (as evidenced by the ticket in my hand, duh). Then this woman proceeds to follow me silently like a shadow of grim death through the entire museum. It was difficult for me to really enjoy the exhibits with her watching me like a hawk. The exhibits, especially the weapons and the medieval section, were enjoyable, but being followed through the museum destroyed the experience. And no, that’s not common practice in Romania, but it’s my understanding they do that to everyone at this location.

I really liked it. Although, some periods of history are really missing.

If you are in the area it really worths a visit. Pleasant small garden to rest in on a summer day. Some interesting old furniture on display and objects of Romanian important writers. The staff is nice and they give you information about what you see.

We went to visit during a exhibition of Dacian jewellery which was visiting the museum as part of a national tour. The museum is well laid out over two floors and though it's quite small it's worth a visit if you're in the area. Some of the exhibition pieces were really beautiful and well preserved. The building is accessed through stairs only, as is the second floor.

Beautiful building and interesting museum. Suggestion: There are miles of ways to improve your museum, staff that work in the museum and actually know what is hapenning is a start, but that's not all, having information about the artifacts and not just putting stuff behind a glass and call it exposition There are maps that detail the trails of different battles, having a legend would help, otherwise they are just dotted lines on a map

The interior is extraordinary, pictures and drawings on the walls are very fine, recently renovated, but I wish there would be more things to see.

It is the history museum of the town of Targoviste where conferences, exhibitions and concerts regularly take place.

👍 Very nice experience. Lots of animals and it's a good time for kids. PLEASE put toilet paper in your restrooms. It is shameful in 2023 to not have toilet paper for your clients.

👍👍 Fascinating! My niece Nikole (3 years and 9 months) was very excited about everything the lady presented, both the evolution of the police and the way she presented herself. Congratulations!
