A very popular name in ranchi maintaining its old world charm and serving good quality authentic bengali food for decades. Menu is limited and practical with Rohu Fish/ Mutton Gravy / Kidney Fry etc Portions are standard and service is extremely fast. The place is mostly cash only but they do accept cards. The entrance is not from the street side, but behind from back alley, so ask locals if you are unable to find it.

Dining date: 5th December 2021 I had fond experience of dining here a few times back in 2000 when I was in Ranchi for work. It was a hotel which used to be preferred by long-term boarders and well-known for its food. I affectionately recall the temporary Sunday lunch arrangement on the roof. On the weekdays the food was served in the permanent arrangement on the first floor. The food used to be finger-licking good! The mutton curry deserved a special mention. Visited it again last December during a work tour. The roof has now become a restaurant where travellers frequent. It has very basic seating arrangement with plastic tables and chairs. It is the best-known Bengali restaurant in town now! But the food was a big letdown this time! I took shukto for myself, along with Sorshe Rohu, mutton curry and rice for us. The shukto lacked flavour disappointingly, so did the mutton curry, which was runny (though the mutton was well-cooked). I was aware that the mutton curry was a celebrated dish here! The Sorshe Rohu lacked the mustard punch. The quality has gone down by several notches with rising popularity over time.

I visited this place and ordered desi chicken. All i got was uncooked chicken. The chicken was so hard that u might loose one or two teeth while trying to eat the same. Neither me nor my husband was able to tear even single bite out of the 5 pieces served. Yet when explained this to the manager, the explanation was "Hard to hoga hi, desi chicken jo hai". As per the degree of hardness, desi chicken ka to naam badalke RCC chicken rakh dena chahiye. 🥴 In short, if u do not want to waste ur money or loose ur teeth, find some place else.

Authentic bengali food at nominal rates with a great taste. Although the hotel is famous for its mutton and chicken curry, but I would suggest everyone to check out their vegetarian options as well as they are really good in taste.

Reach here by 12 noon if you really want to enjoy different kinds of fishes. They have limited stocks and fish gets finished by 1:30 pm. I have visited here over 200 times and never seen it less than 100% occupied at peak lunch hours. The best dish here is Rehu curry, katla curry and Mutton with steam rice. Here the crowd which comes to have lunch/dinner is a mixed crowd. You will see the working class people who want to have a quick lunch will come along with college students and also the local vendors. At peak hours there may be a long queue with waiting time ranging between 20-30 minutes. So keep you time extra for this if you come at peak lunch hours. The taste of all the dishes have never changed. I have been visiting here since 2009. The sitting setup is ordinary and don't expect the waitors to be courteous as they have a lot of load on them. Overall a nice place to have good Bengali food.

If u looking for a place where u get great mutton dish hands down this is the best place in ranchi for serving that purpose . The staff is also on there toes to help u. I would recommend that if u are with family for dinner planes plzz visit between 8 pm to 9 :15 pm . I would give it 4.5 for the food , 4 for serving and 3 for the interior.

We have been visiting this place especially on convenient Sundays to relish traditional Bengali food preparations. Earlier we found here a lot of Bengali families enjoying lunch together. The number of that traditional folk rushing here for the Sunday lunch has depleted with a rise in the crowd of all linguistic groups. The traditional sweet and sour seasonal chutney and aalloo bhaja are missing from the plate. The quality and varieties were better earlier.

The mutton was absolutely out of this world and blew my mind. The best mutton ever. The mutton was cooked to perfection and was falling off the bone. The taste of that rice dunked into the gravy is one that i will never forget. The mutton was mild but flavourful and a definite must have. Next up i ordered some fish (rohu) . This was a curry based fish, slightly spicy. It made a good combo with the rice. No Bengali food is ever complete without fish so next up, i ordered both fried fish. In my opinion the fried fish were okay. I have had much better fried. By the time we had reached the place, most of the dish were sold out. Wished we could have tried out more varieties. I loved the food here and i recommend everyone try the mutton here. You will not regret.
