What a treat in the heart of the city. Traditional Afrikaans food, home made Gingerbeer that is just heavenly, roosterkoek dishes, Bobotie, kondensmelk koffie, skilpadjies, and much more. beautifully kept gardens creates a peaceful atmosphere despite the noisy street. Play area for the kids. Dis net lekker (it is just great!)

A lovely place that serves unique food you won't find elsewhere. I've been twice and enjoyed it very much. Went in mid September 2023 and sat in the garden next to the fountain, amongst all the beautiful blooms. It was a great experience. Very peaceful and unique; a great treat different from the familiar fast-food and chain restaurants. Although it takes a while for food to arrive at the table, it is always worth it and totally understandable as the food is cooked from scratch. You can tell it's made with love. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

What a nice experience. Amazing service, open spaces under big trees, outside seating. Food came out fast and was amazing. The prices are very reasonable. The menu is different from any breakfast menu you know. Go have a look!

We first started our meal with 2 mugs of condensed milk coffee! Yum!!! I had the mince and cheese jaffels. Just to make it difficult, I wanted apricot jam in the jaffel as well. Done! What a fantastic meal?!? Hubby had the boerseun breakfast as usual.

Interesting food :) Food : - I tried a vetkoek with chicken mayo, it was not bad it was interesting. The chicken mayo was very rich. I enjoyed the coffee with the rusks, very South African. Ambiance / Atmosphere: - Relaxing ! It’s a relaxing atmosphere that is buzzing with few people, it also is very nice that it has trinkets of the past. Staff / Management : - The service was quick and brilliant.

We made a reservation the day before because we had a baby with pram and needed a table to accommodate us with the pram. When we arrived on time, our table was taken and we had to stand and wait for 10 minutes to be seated. We were placed in the walkway with the pram although there were more suitable open tables. The few waiters looked like busy bees and this did not create a peaceful setting for a Sunday morning breakfast. The food was okay but lacked that special touch.

I love this place - truly a country escape in the city with freshly baked bread. The portions are large - and so is the Moerse Americano! Chicken mayo boeppensbroodjie is my favorite...

A real hidden gem. We had our end of year staff function here and it was beyond lovely. Such a homely little spot, the food was out of this world and the service was topnotch! I can't waaaaait to come back. THANK YOU!!!

Very nice place and cool menu. With "Ouma this" and "Tannie that's" on offer, expectations were high, and it was just a pity that the "roesterkoek" was a dry shop bought affair that had no resemblance of the real thing. Baking their own, or at least warming it up on a toaster before serving it would make things just right:) We still enjoyed our stop though!

Feels like you are having a meal at someone’s home. The restaurant is in a converted house. It has all the traditional Afrikaans dishes that one would have grown up eating in an Afrikaans household. Also good for others who haven’t grown up in a Afrikaans household. Food is cooked fresh and the portions are very generous. The taste is very nice. Service is a bit out there. While we were attended to promptly and the food arrived in 20-30 minutes which is expected as the food is cooked fresh. One thing that was somewhat disappointing was we ordered the sweet dumplings and after an 1.5 hours of waiting were informed that it’s only made on special occasions. While that is understandable, telling us 1.5 hours after ordering it was not a nice ending to a very nice meal. What the place needs is a manager and cushions on the chairs as they are not designed for long sitting sessions.

We had a good end of year celebration here. Decor is rustic farmhouse as the name suggests. Food and service were good.

What a disappointing experience. Been there before, food and service was not to bad first time. Today 9 of us went there for a after morning christening breakfast after church. After all drinks and food ordered we were the told no orange juice and only mango juice, ordered 2 double portions of jaffels ,no jaffel bread. When the food came out it was one plate at a time with at least a 5min between each plate, scrambled eggs were not scrambled, fried eggs cold, had to send back which took 20 Min to be returned just for one plate. Once everyone finally received their food and had eaten mine had not even arrived when I enquired where my food was I was told it would be there soon, was still waiting even when almost everyone had finished Asked for manager,no manager. I could go on and on about other things but to hungary so off to Wimpy for a decent meal. Looking at the owners responses to the reviews, will be enough to not want me to go back there ever.

What a disappointment. We've been wanting to go to this place for a while now.... They've got very delicious food (stunning menu) although we haven't ordered food only coffee, as we waited like half hour for a waiter to serve us, after both of the ONLY waiters saw us and knew we weren't served, get to us asking: "Have you been helped?" NO we haven't & then pulling a face - we weren't the only ones complaining about waiting either to be served or waiting to pay for the bill! Such a beautiful place with a delicious menu, but the service from your waiters could DEFINITELY improve, with a better attitude & speeding up the service, could perhaps bring you more clients. Good luck!

Traditional Afrikaans feeling and food. Melkkos was as good as my mom's.

Absolutely disgusting.. I will never go there again. Service was appalling.. 2 of us went to speak to the waitress to change her attitude.. Manager was NOT there. They had NO deserts which is on the menu. They added on 3 exstra alcohol drinks which we never had. There is no vegan option.. Everything is pork. STAY AWAY!!! EVERYTHING was terrible

The experience was interesting to say the least. We arrived at the place and waited for a long time ti be served. The tables were dirty and sticky and there were flies everywhere.

The food was good, although it did get very cold very quickly as we were sitting outside. Maybe a suggestion could be to warm the plates well before serving? I really recommend the home made ginger beer. Unfortunately mine had some pieces of broken ceramic pieces in it.. not sure how they got in there, maybe they should check the insides of the brewing container for breakages? Otherwise it was a very relaxing atmosphere.

Was there this morning with my family for breakfast. Very disappointed in the service and food. Not only did we wait for an hour for our food, but at the time our food came the egg and flapjacks were raw and could not be eaten. I had to share my food with my daughter who was so hungry by that time. My husband and my food was tasteless and we could not finish it. I asked the "Manager" to get the owner to phone me,.... to no avail. Was not even bothered that the food were uneadable and we paid for it. Sorry cannot recommend at all.

Lovely setting. The idea I think is to create an Afrikaans themed menu. The crockery is enamel tin and the food is average. Remember to ask for the menu in English if you are not Afrikaans.

Average. Food was very tasty but the experience was average. They also didnt have some items available and it takes 1 hour to prepare the pie ...
