This museum had free entry and a lots of things to see. Good collection of historical things. I like the mannequins drapped with the scrapes found on beach and public places around. That place was so beautiful, scenic and peaceful to enjoy day outing with family and friends.

We visited to La Perouse during the holiday week and walk in to the museum randomly. It is an old buiding built in 1882, free entry and have some historic stories. The drawing arts are beautiful and colorful. We spent half hour here.

Wonderful little museum. Definitely worth the trip as it is surrounded by the ethereal little beach with low tides, perfect for a beach read. The rich history that is seen in this marvellous Victorian Georgian style residence consists of Aboriginal paintings with native Australian wild plants. The walk on the bridge felt like as I was in a fairy tale with the salty breeze of the ocean wind.

This is a great museum! Really interesting about La Perouse the adventurer - the French version of Captain Cook. Also fascinating about the local Indigenous owners. Well worth visiting.

La Perouse museum is chock full of history, and I've learned many things about the French expedition in Australia upon this point. There is plenty of rich culture and tradition from the snake shows to the breathtaking photographs of native aquatic life near Botany Bay. The staff members were extremely helpful and were lovely to talk to.

Small one .... but a lot to catch the eyes of explorer minds and those who love and cherish about history! I reached almost closing time, so didn’t get enough time to study all artifacts or explore the museum itself completely...for sure will come back to learn more...loved to learn about the museum history as a telegraph office, see instruments used a century ago, many on ships during oceanic exploration of world! It was also interesting to know the monument served during the last pandemic (Influenza) a century ago! The museum is beside the scenic backdrop of beautiful Frenchmans Beach, and other beaches and Bare island Fort... A good spot for all those little explorers to unleash their inquisitiveness !!! Cheers!

(Translated by Google) You can see the history of the small but well organized museum, botany bay. Pretty scenery and wonderful glow are extra bonuses. Admission fee is free. ^^ Was it boat shed in front of museum? I do not remember the name, but it is not too bad to eat on the lawn, take away at FISH & CHIPS $ 10.

Housed inside the old cable station (1882), the La Perouse Museum has numerous relics from French explorer La Pérouse’s many expeditions, an interesting Aboriginal gallery, and changing exhibitions on local history and environment.

The museum has a wonderful + eclectic display of Australian naval history associated with La Perouse as well as other interesting historical pieces. Made it to the penultimate day of the exhibition on the French Explorers who helped put Australia on the map. Great spring weather. Everyone was out. Parking difficult. Someone should lend the Musée Lapérouse a lawnmower.

La Perouse Museum celebrates the life of Jean François de Galaup, comte de Lapérouse, who was a French explorer and navigator that named the suburb. It is a relaxing musum with very nice staff and lots of visual information about his life.

Beautiful museum in a historic building with many different historical exhibits related to the area. I really loved the Snake man exhibit and the current French exhibition. Several audiovisual installations as well. Learn about the history of the area and the connection with France. Highly recommended. Also free. Do yourself a favour and have a look.

(Translated by Google) Museum built at the same place where Laperouse landed in 1788. Right next to it is a memorial and a grave of one of the members of the crew. The free exhibition broadly traces the expedition and research of the wrecks. Nice collection of cards upstairs.

Am interesting mix of exhibits reflecting the history of the La Perouse area in what once a Cable Station building built late 1800s. Entry is free and is open Fri/Sat/Sunday from 10am Aboriginal history is covered, where nearly all were killed off very quickly by the introduction of smallpox. Most of the buildings rooms go through the history of La Perouse himself, who arrived 1788, same year as the first fleet, and stayed for 6 weeks in Botany Bay. He also, with a second ship, explored large parts of the world. They were both shipwrecked in the Solomon Islands, sunk by a cyclone. Rooms have salvaged parts of the 2 ships. Others have a large number of wall hung prints of places they traveled. There's also an exhibit of Happy Valley, the large room shed camp formed by family's etc that became unemployed and homeless due to the Great Depression. Another room is dedicated to the generations of "Snakemen", snake wranglers who every weekend for near 100 years entertained visitors with snakes they locally collected plus also raised. The French Embassy supports the museum financially and with artifacts. There was also a room selling tea/coffee to visitors.

Fantastic free little museum in beautiful old building. Lots of interesting details on and artefacts from the La Perouse expedition of 1788 plus a great room devoted to the Snake Pit. There's also a little coffee bar for drinks & snacks on the verandah if you want to escape the crowds at the other LaPa eateries.
