I was quite disappointed with Common Rose. As soon as we saw the menu prices, we decided to leave. This remote roadside restaurant doesn't have any special location or ambiance to justify their high prices. In Sri Lanka, you'd expect to pay 1-2 USD for vegetable rice, but at Common Rose, they were charging a whopping 10 USD for the same dish. Definitely not worth it.

Amazing bbq chicken, big portion 4 x chicken thighs (!) chips and salad. So tasty. Only did take-aways.

We did not eat here. They gave us a menu wich was obviously for foreigners. Most expensive prices I've seen in Sri Lanka. Main dishes for 2200 and fruit juice for 1100. I don't mind paying more as a foreigner but this is wild.

The chicken Deviled with rice tasted very good and the juice was delicious. However the price for the food was higher than usual.

The Main dish was tasty. The dessert was a ready meal (Watalappan) and was awful. They have a menu only for foreigners with high prices.

Really nice place with great service, very clean kitchen and awesome food. We had the chicken and cheese Kottu and the chicken and cheese burger. Kottu was awesome, really delicious, well seasoned. The burger was ok compared to local standards (don't expect something you'd eat in Europe or the States), fries were delicious. Best mango lassi in Sri Lanka so far!

A descent place to have lunch or dinner if you are passing the Udawalawa town. Place is clean and organized. Have verities of sri lanakn and foreign foods. Food is delicious and prices are resonable.

We came for two days in a row to eat in Common Rose. We tried the curry buffet (5 different types of curry) and it was delicious. It is a real family restaurant with traditional tastes. It is not cheap but the portions are very big. You will not leave hungry. The mixed salad, for example, is a very big plate of vegetables. Shakes and juices are tasty. The only problem we had was that the first time the A/C was off and it was really hot inside. The staff is very friendly but makes you feel comfortable although they do not speak fluent english. But it only makes this place more local and worthy to visit. Strong recommendation.

No AC, just a fan, so it is super hot inside. Plenty of flies that want to eat your dinner… The food is good but very expensive compared to restaurants in Ella for example!

Great buffet at 680 rupees. Best mango lassi I've ever had. And so clean! Later edit: returned at 8pm and ordered food from the menu: chicken and cheese kotu, salads, grilled chicken, all excellent. Bring your own alcohol, there's a wine shop next door.
