Our experience here was nothing like the seemingly positive reviews on this site. I thought it was overpriced and we felt constantly intimidated by the staff to spend money here. The place backs onto a swamp with barb wire which isn’t ideal and the food and drinks were so overpriced I pay the same in Australia. I looked at other places in the area that friends stayed at for the same price and this place is not remotely in the same league. Very disappointed

Great place with fantastic views and a nice big pool. Rooms are spacious and clean. You can really connect with nature here. Birds chirping, river flowing nearby and lush greenery around. Food is delicious and staff is warm and helpful. They provide safari service as well and you can explore the Udawalawe National Park with a friendly guide. Highly recommend this place.

Small boutique hotel. The final 650m of road towards the hotel is not good. The family room attic part has a steep ladder not a staircase (kids and elderly can have issues going up). The room is good. There was no TV remote. Room balcony nicely opens to the river. The attic is quite warm until late night. Hotel WiFi and the cable TV wasn't working. The hotel is in a poor Dialog reception area. The pool is very well maintained and quite large. The surrounding is well organised. When you continue along the road (5min walk) you come across the stream and end of the road, which is beautiful. Friendly staff and breakfast was okay.

We as a group of 10+ adults stayed at the hotel and had a great stay. The staff was very helpful in attending to our requests. The food were delicious and well prepared. Has a great pool to swim in. Includes a kiddies pool as well. Very spacious rooms with comfy beds. Ample parking space. The Udawalawe resevoir is about 2km away from the hotel. Visit there to see an amazing sunset. They have their own jeeps for the Udawalawe Safari and the guide gives enough time to appreciate the animals and views. Very recommendable.

Offensive treatment througout booking. Not responding on time and even dont bother to reach you again. Also when you explain that its not ok they answer stupid answers like this: "This s d first time I m corresponding this much for a single booking" And: So pls go ahead. We will instruct the hotel to cancel the reservation". Dont waste your time and find another hotel which deserves your money.

Really nice boutique hotel close to the elephant park. The rooms were very clean and modern. The food was good, though the breakfast was very simple with fruit, followed by two eggs and a sausage. There is some building work going on at the minute which ends at around 5pm, but means that you eat lunch in your room. We did the elephant safari with the hotel, but I wouldn't use them again. We booked 4 hours. In our truck two younger members of the team joined the driver, who then sat behind us during the safari taking pictures, talking on their phones, and generally just being in the way. They should have sat in the drivers cabin if they wanted to come along, not intruded on our experience as we paid for it with the expectation of it being private. Furthermore at about 2 hours in we pulled over to make roti... I found this to be a massive waste of time, as we had paid for additional time with the elephants, not for roti. I ended up telling them to stop so we could continue the tour. Be aware that a 4 hour tour includes travel time to an from the park.

Dishonest, don't go They charged us 1000 SLR for bowl of rice, for my son. We booked a safari with them the charged us 9000 instead of 8000 as on their website (photo attached) "Unfortunately" their connection was unavailable when I wanted to pay with Visa card. 5 min after I paid cash, the man came to see me to ask for 1000 missing. I am not that sure as we counted it with me... Never go there !

Went for a 3 day safari trip. It was an absolute treasure in terms of service, room space/quality, food, nature. Essentially, there're no complaints and looking forward for future visits and recommendations.

Beautiful place close to the National Park Spacious rooms / chalets with good facilities. Calmful surrounding. Location is ideal if you are planning a safari at the Udawalawa National park. Worth for the price.

We went there for a long weekend to spend two nights. The team as well as the owner was very friendly and accommodating to adjust as per our crazy requests. The arrangement was to book BB basis with an additional BBQ on the second night and to order rest of the meals as needed.Β  We arrived at the hotel around 3 pm after a late breakfast at Galle. The place is easy to get to (google might make the journey too short by suggesting a slightly difficult route) They prepared a delicious sea food fried rice in just about half hour after we requested for lunch. The plans for BBQ got changed last minute so we requested the BBQ on the first night which was accepted without a fuss. Justice was served to the giant lake prawns and the 'pork' πŸ˜‰. Both were well seasoned, nicely prepared and so was the kottu we ordered for dinner. The rooms were spacious with an open shower and a balcony overlooking the Walawe river. There are no other buildings in the visinity so it feels like we're away from the city. The Sri Lankan breakfast and the english breakfast we got for the two days we spent were ok although it was not the greatest. The scrambled eggs were better than expected and so was the fruit juice served with it. Spent half the day in the swimming pool which was placed away from the rooms to provide the best privacy. The pool is sufficiently maintained, clean and of good size too. Second night we had the fried lake fish and more pork for bites which was equally delicious and, biriyani for dinner. Biriyani was a little dry for our expectations but the chicken was good. All in all it is a hidden gem which we will surely be returning...
