Idikatupana is a special place along the Sripada treck to the top ( From Nallathanniya Entrence).First time travelers who called "Kodukara" in Sinhala , have some special rituals to do as bringing a needles and threads and keep it in Indikatupana. In the morning you can see nice view of the sun rising.

This is a place we have to face when go through the journey to sri pada. People going there for the first time do something like knitting with the help of a needle & a thread. This is a tradition.

As a tradition, people who climb the mountain for the first time, draw a white thread with a needle at this point, climbing up to few meters. This is also as to receive blessing for a good safe journey to up there. Adult first time hikers are called "kodu" and the children are called "kiri kodu"

Devotees who are worshipping Sripada for the very first time have to perform a ritual at this point to make a braid using a needle & a thread, hence the name Indikatupana. You can see white threads along the trail for a few hundred meters starting from this point.

Indikatupana is located in Nuwaraeliya district, Sri Lanka. The estimate terrain elevation above seal level is 1924 metres. It’s very important and interesting places for Sri lankans and it’s very important place for those who climb Sri Pada mountain (Adam’s peak) for first time.

When we are go to Sivanolipatha malai from Hatton route then it's a best way to take bypass from here to Ratnapura route. Otherwise in the sessional time got stuck in the Nallathanni Hatton route.. it's around 1.5km from the top

Situated about 7000 feet above sea level on the way to the summit of Sri Pada (also known as Adam's Peak by Europeans & Christians ).Called indikatupana , pilgrims take needles and thread to do a little bit of needle work, a tradition coming long long as about 15 centuries. Place is little untidy and unclean as a result of carelessness of some passersbys who are not real pilgrims. Very difficult to remain there for a long time because the chilling wind make your limbs tight and the jaws shatter if you do not move away with out being there long.

4.45km from the sri pada (adams peak) trail head and after 1.15km of hard climb you will reach “Idikatu Pana” the place where the most difficult and the final climb starts. Very attractive place with amazing landmarks.

Room was clean and the staff is friendly, however the shower had cold water, my towel had a dirty spot and the breakfast was burned, and one electricity spot wasn't working in the room. When I mentioned those things, the staff tried to make a solution which was good, I could charge my phone in another room, I got a new towel and they tried to give me warm water. Due to the rain the electricity went out more often. And indeed, there are a lot of high stairs to get to the room.
