Growing and serving the community. Trying to create stronger programming to support the Buffalo Soldier, Wall of Black Excellence and Kansas City Metroplex History

Great center that hosts lots of activities located in Kansas City. It's a beautiful location right next to a river. Inside they often have live music for their events. They also have a lot of beautiful art and displays. The staff is very friendly. The building also seems to be fairly new and we'll maintained.

I have lived in Kansas City since 2002 and this is the first time I have visited the Bruce R Watkins Cultural Center. I had no idea that he was such an interesting figure. I am not a Kansas City native so I don't know the history as well as some. Was very impressed by the fact that he was a Tuskegee Airmen. I only had a few minutes to spend. I am definitely planning to go back but I have longer. Clinton at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure that I had a great experience. They have the perfect person working that job. He is very welcoming and informative as well as exceptionally friendly. It shows that he enjoys his job. Very highly recommend for a cultural experience right here in Kansas City!✌

I’ve worked filming programs at the Bruce R. Watkins Center several time beginning over 20 years ago with SHE NEVER LOST A PASSENGER. The center continues to Bring important cultural moments to life. Check out the history of Kansas City’s black community and all that has enriched all our lives.

It was a set up for absentee voters. It was not crowded, we were in and out. Mask were worn, floor marked for 6ft apart waiting. Noticed that they thoroughly wiped down and disinfected after we were done. I appreciate them looking out for our safety.

Was just here for the vaccine, very nice building with large and convenient parking lot. The staff were very friendly, the vaccine process was extremely quick and efficient.

Interestingly enough, I felt unwelcome when I first went in like why would an elderly white woman be there? When that chill wore off the guard was conversant. It's an impressive museum and brought back so many memories; especially, when I saw pics of people I'd worked with and greatly respected such as Julia Hill and Am Brooks. I am encouraging others to visit.

Went there to vote early. People were very friendly. Was very impressed on the way it was setup, no problems and displayed sensitivity to the Covid situation by being armed with hand sanitizer, masks and the use of stylish pens.

Very eye opening displays. Great likenesses of the Jazz artists in paintings or drawings. I was there for a COVID-19 vaccine and in the short time I was there I saw enough to make me desire to come back to learn and see more.
