I've never been afraid of dying from an error in my life! Came in for a seizure but they forgot to clip off a common IV that the nurses put in and unknowingly to myself I bled out so much we had to change beds. Not once did I get my meds within 15min of the scheduled time I was supposed to and once for three hours they couldn’t get any staff to come at the scheduled times they wrote on the board then they just decided not to give them to me. Changed doses without telling me which triggered another seizure that I was not prepared for because I didn’t know they changed the meds and they gave me a very basic apology saying that shouldn’t have been changed. In total I've been moved 4 times in 3 days and all the mistakes were failed communication between the staff because they moved my across the building so much. Then half the rooms have lights outside 24/7 so they are never dark. After I was stable I followed up with a couple basic doctors visits at north Kansas City hospital, everything was totally preventable and the 4 days of hell from hospital mistakes and near death experiences shook my trust in the hospital system! They do not know what they are doing, lie to you to cover their mistakes and now I have thousands of dollars of bills for doctors and stuff that were a result of their mistakes. Truly scary! Update: Two years later after paying thousands for every bill I knew about (and shouldn’t have had to pay but I did) I now have 3 new debt collections from departments that never even billed me, never heard about and can’t tell me what exactly what these charges are for. My credit score just dropped from 800 to 640 two years later out of the blue.

As Canadian, I never thought I would say this, I am impressed with the top-notch level of care this hospital was providing. My sister had double mastectomy last week and Dr. Kobberman and her team did an amazing job by providing a genuine care and passion to serve. They ensure that all questions are answered not only by the patient but also their chaperones. I’d like to congratulate the nuclear team, the anesthesiologist, nurses and Dr, Kobberman for showing utmost sense of commitment and care. May God bless you all for a job well done! 🙏😍

Had a surgery scheduled and filled out all paperwork in advance. Went over details with at least two people on the phone before the procedure. The doctor’s office performing the surgery went over all of the insurance information and I paid the $195 fee to them in advance. The day of surgery, I sign the waiver and it says I need to pay $,6800 for the hysterectomy today. I have excellent insurance and the out of pocket deductible is nearly met. They said I had to pay 20% coinsurance and they estimated it to be $6,800. Why wouldn’t they tell me that BEFORE the day of surgery? The doctor’s nurse called 45 minutes later to see where I was. They didn’t even tell them I was there at check in and left due to the blatant lack of communication. Someone needs to figure out how this happened and ensure it doesn’t happen again. I will never be back, too many great hospitals in the area to waste time with OPRMC. If they can’t get that part figured out, I darn sure do not trust them to handle a major surgery. I think this was meant to be and will be getting this done at KU.

I don’t trust this medical center. They ask you to pay a “co-payment” before an imaging procedure, and that’s fine. However, while my insurance company says my co-pay is supposed to be $275 for this specific procedure, they ask me to pay $2450 instead, and say that this the amount that I’m responsible for. After making a few calls between my insurance company and the hospital, turned out the amount they ask for is actually equal to total amount of the money that they should receive from the insurance, and they still name that amount as “co-payment”. Sorry but this not called co-payment. They are misleading patients intentionally and securing the money that they are supposed to receive from insurance. Once the bill is issued and approved by the insurance, they return the extra amount to patient a few months later.

This is basically the Disney World of hospitals. We felt so supported throughout the labor and delivery of our first baby. The nurses were all so insanely nice and encouraging. I always felt my thoughts and questions were heard and valued. For postpartum, the experience was truly more than I could ever ask for. I truly was treated so kindly by everyone from the nurses to the cleaning staff and everyone in between. This will forever be a special place for my family and I because of the care we received.

Terrible, disgusting, disappointed and just down right foul place and service. There was only 3 people over my three days spent here that don't fall into this category. This hospital is has no health customer service and should be ashamed to call it anything but a failure. I was in for a stomach bleed, spent multiple hours with no one checking in, room was filthy and not clean nor sanitized as it should be since it's a hospital, the nurses on the 4th floor were terrible especially William who is a charge nurse. GI doctor was terrible and if someone comes in presenting with a stomach bleed an EGD should not take more than 24 hours to be scheduled. The hospital should be a zero rating! ZERO RATING! I will never go there again and will file complaints through my insurance for everything they try and charge me and will even be considering a lawsuit against the hospital and lack of care that was provided and what I documented while there. I am appalled at the service from a health-care facility. I am so glad I am out of that place and no longer in the disgusting and downright foul place. I will also be contacting a lawyer and my insurance provider about filing claims against the hospital and staff for the lack of service provider here! ZERO RATING!!!!!!!

Have a brain aneurysm and am at KU Med. Thankfully I survived being essentially forced out of ER by OPRMC after a couple hours with a diagnosis of a swollen knee. I told them to correct my paperwork but no. I cannot express how many times I tried explaining myself and what was going on. I insisted they gave me a referral to a vascular malformation specialist for fear of AVM rupture due to veins bulging and spasming and blood pooling and then being reabsorbed. All I heard from the nurse and NP was that my condition wasn’t possible, and the referral I saw TWO DAYS LATER said the same thing. I understand they were ignorant, but they refused to get the appropriate dr. or referral. The Dr they sent me to, was not only NOT a malformation specialist, he asked me to go on FB and ask my fellow KT people what to do and I had to beg him for a referral and he he laughed when I asked for a neurosurgeon. The neurologist he was willing to send me to, I haven’t heard from yet. I ended up taking myself to KU Med Friday night after this started Tuesday night. KU was willing to listen and treat me. They found a brain aneurysm. My mother worked at OPRMC for 25 years or so and I had two babies there. I don’t believe I will ever go back to their hospital and will encourage anyone with more than a broken bone to not waste their time there. Beyond disappointing. Beyond disgusting how reckless they were in their ER. Don’t go. I had much higher expectations.

There was no waiting. I was called in at the exact time of my appointment. It was extremely convenient - a locker and gown situated in close proximity to the mammography room. The technologist was very pleasant, courteous and efficient. In 15 minutes from arrival I was done and able to go on with my day. The technologist explained that she would phone me if there was any problem indicated on the report, which was reassuring. The report was sent to my primary doctor the following day. Totally worth it for the "peace of mind " it gives for the next 12 months. I will always get my mammogram done at Overland Park Regional.

The most amazing doctors and nurses made me feel safe and comfortable the whole time I was there before and after my baby's birth. They were so sweet and caring. Never judged my dumb first time mom questions. Helped so much with anything me and my partner and baby needed. So very attentive and made me feel like I was doing good and could do anything even though the first days of having the baby was hard. Best hospital can't recommend it enough. 💕☺️

Use to be one of the most reliable care locations. Now, it’s filled with incompetent staff, nothing they ever tell u happens. Wife has been here for 4 days with no diagnosis or treatment. Just throwing everything up in the air. Doctor indicated discharge at 9am, it’s 225pm and we are still here, no communication just someone will be right there . What a bunch of idiots

We had a traumatic birth. My daughter got stuck coming out and if it wasn’t for the nurses at this hospital, my daughter would have died. They saved her life and I am forever grateful. She had to go to the NICU and every nurse and doctor there took extra special care of her. My labor and post natal nurses were also the best. They all worked so hard and took such excellent care of me. Every person who we came into contact/communicated with was beyond nice. Even the kitchen and housekeepers did their job with a smile and a great attitude. If we decided to have a third kiddo, we will definitely be delivering there again. I highly recommend this hospital.

Great care. Excellent staff. The only true thing I would change would be the soundproofing of the rooms. You could hear full conversations on both sides of your room, even during designated quiet time hours. This was especially rough during nights when you could hear babies crying from all directions. Also, quiet time was not really adhered to for non-urgent items not including during rounds or vital checks. My staff was excellent. I had danielle, Lindsay, Corey and Julie. The residents were also very informative and considerate. Overall a great experience.

I had to switch to Overland Park Regional Medical Center for maternal care when my husband and I moved quite suddenly very close to our due date. They were amazing at setting us up prior to our baby's birth, keeping us informed about the medical and bureaucratic parts of the process, and providing a welcoming atmosphere. When it did come time to give birth, there complications, but the medical team working with me was amazing - they were positive, encouraging, and straightforward about what needed to be done for a successful delivery. Recovering after the birth was lovely - the nurses were so helpful in walking my husband and I through the process of learning to care for our baby and were attentive to my needs as a patient. I can't say enough good things about my experience there.

Everyone at OPRMC was wonderful. The people in the recovery room were so nice. The nurses were amazing and kept thanking me for letting them get me ice water and other things. They are just the nicest people! Dr. Chapman is the nicest doctor I have ever worked with and the most competent as well. I would recommend this hospital to anyone!

On 8/25/22 I had a robotic assisted hysterectomy of my uterus, cervix and fallopian tubes with excisions of endometriosis. From start to finish the staff and medical professionals were great. I was well informed regarding my procedure beforehand and the day of. The staff/receptionists were very polite and helpful in directing me. The nurses who worked with me in prepping for my surgery were very courteous and professional. They made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, offered numerous times to answer any questions I may have had, explained everything that was being done as it was being done and ensured that I was aware of everything that would be done during the procedure, after and provided excellent instructions for my recovery. This all stands for the anesthesiologist and Dr. Swan (my surgeon) as well. The facility was very clean, very organized and comfortable for any waiting time that was done by myself or my father who accompanied me to provide my ride home. I did receive an email following my discharge that encouraged contact should I have any questions or concerns. The facility location was very easy to navigate to. I am very pleased with my entire experience and with every individual I interacted with. I highly recommend Overland Park General to any that are looking to schedule a procedure and with confidence can tell those who have a procedure scheduled, you will be in good hands.

I was extremely pleased with my care during my hospital stay. The nurses and technicians were amazing. They were helpful efficient and most of all very kind and understanding. My only complaint was the bed. It was frustrating with all the pads on it but I understand the necessity of having them. It made for frustration and little sleep. Everyone, including housekeeping and food service were very nice. I did have a very long wait for my procedure so I think maybe I was taken down a little early. It was ok, however, as I had to wait somewhere. I have been in this hospital twice before and this time was the best experience.

From the front desk to the nurses even my physicians and surgical team were absolutely amazing! I don’t know how to show my gratitude but during this healing process you all have been on my mind! I am so thankful!!

Everyone is so nice! Super clean! They took good care of me and showed positive urgency leading up to my surgery. They even reached out asked how I was doing and helped assure my 2 week post op appointment! I loved the nurse Crystal that attended to my room after surgery!

The medical billing with this hospital has been horrendous for us. First, there was no communication on when we would need to provide insurance when we checked into the ER so after 30 minutes I asked if I could provide our card -- someone from billing came out and took the details with her iPad. Fast forward and since that time we have received about 5 bills from the hospital when we should owe no $ based on our insurance plan. The medical billing have advised my self and my insurance company that they did not have insurance on file. We have asked it be rectified each time a bill is received and I have probably spent 10-20 hours on the phone battling these charges. What is strange is from that same visit, emergency providers were able to bill our insurance timely and they obtain our insurance information from the hospital...Will be advising my friends and family to go to another hospital when needing care.

I arrived at the ER at 7am after experiencing severe pain on my RH side, afraid it was my appendix i was taken back immediatly and seen by i think it was Dr. Dickerson? so much pain i can't remember. The nurses were so sweet and took care of me very well, got me some pain meds asap and got me feeling better, didn't even feel my IV go in, very impressed. The environment was very clean and the Dr. got straight to the point which i appreciated. I was there for about 5 hours, tests didn't take long at all, very efficient.

They cancelled important labs and they never told me. I waited over 3 days. They never told me. My nurse was good but the others rushed me out. No pain medicine, no relief. Just let me leave all worried. Bed side manor isn’t good.

I wish all hospitals would strive to provide the level of service I received from Overland park Medical Center. I unfortunately found myself in need of help while visiting from Texas, and have never met a better group of people in the medical field! Everyone truly seemed to care and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. Thank you so much for all you do!

The sleep study was a good experience. Everything was adjusted to my needs, the tech (Tracy) was AWESOME and very attentive to any issues that arose. If you're used to a memory foam mattress, you'll love this. I rate this as a 10 out of 10!

Just recently had my daughter here through HCA. Every single nurse I had was absolutely amazing, knowledgeable, supportive, and helpful. Specific and huge shout outs to Jami, Alexa, Debby, and Lisa for making my stay the best it could have been and for helping me keep my composure while being induced. I cannot thank these nurses enough for supporting me through my delivery and helping me jump into my role as a first time mother.

Due to their negligence, and another hospital as well, my best friend died a couple hours ago. She had went to another hospital yesterday after a fall the prior night and they said the CT showed nothing after telling them the pain was in her mid and upper back, they did nothing just told her to take ibuprofen and sent her home. She then went to OPRMC with extreme upper abdominal pain, they only did blood work said everything was fine and used a CT from more than 2 months ago to determine nothing was wrong and sent her home. Had anyone done a different scan or x-ray they would have seen that she had a broken rib that had punctured her organs. I hope her family gets justice.

All of the doctors & nurses were wonderful. I would recommend that more details be requested when collecting insurance information instead of a card to call later with additional information. We were referred out to another facility and I am not sure our insurance was relayed correctly.

I was very uneasy about going to OPR due to past experiences being bad. So I was so pleasantly surprised when this stay was not only amazing, it was pleasant. The Nursing Staff was warm, caring and attentive. They made feel safe and comfortable. Thank you to all the Staff for taking wonderful care of me.

All the staff was very friendly and qualified. My only issue was the comfort of the bed. I had just had back surgery and bed mattress seemed very thin. I might have been more sensitive since the type of surgery though.

My husband came to OP Regional for a heart ablation procedure. I am SO impressed with the level of care and communication. Amy kept me informed every 30 min. as his procedure moved along and his nurse, Yvonne, was warm, caring yet professional. Dr. Darden took his time explaining and never seemed rushed. What a great team they are! Everyone I came across that day was friendly and helpful! Wonderful experience

Dear [OP Regional], I hope this message finds you well. Unfortunately, I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the recent experience I had at your hospital. I must say, it was far from the standard of care I expected. Firstly, the lack of organization and communication among the staff was truly disheartening. I found myself constantly waiting for long periods without any updates or information regarding my condition or treatment plan. It felt as if my concerns were being ignored, which is incredibly frustrating when you are seeking medical assistance. Moreover, the cleanliness and hygiene standards were not up to par. The overall appearance of the hospital was quite underwhelming, with dirty floors and unattended areas. It left me questioning the level of attention given to patient safety and well-being in your facility. Additionally, the attitude of some of the healthcare professionals I encountered was far from friendly and empathetic. I understand that working in a hospital can be stressful, but a little compassion and kindness go a long way in helping patients feel comfortable and supported during their time of need. Lastly, the billing process was a nightmare. The lack of transparency and clear explanations regarding the charges left me feeling frustrated and financially burdened. It is important for a hospital to have a transparent and customer-friendly billing system to ensure patients are not left feeling overwhelmed and confused. I sincerely hope that you take my feedback into consideration and make the necessary improvements to provide a better experience for your patients. As a healthcare institution, it is crucial to prioritize patient satisfaction and ensure that their needs are met with utmost care and professionalism. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I trust that you will address and rectify these issues promptly. Yours sincerely,

Having never actually been to OP Regional before (as a patient or out-patient) I made a call to enquire how to ‘access’ - received very helpful and guided information ~ very happy with their “under cover parking” (out of the blazing summer heat) then just a short walk to the main entrance ~ Greeted by friendly and helpful staff who guided me to my Cardiology appointment. The technician was professional, very thorough and pleasant. Very impressed with this entire experience ~ much appreciated. Thank You!

As a new patient who was referred over, they treated me with such great care. We were so pleased with the whole experience there at the Labor and Delivery section that we could not stop praising about the staff: nurses, residents, doctors and everyone who assisted me during my labor and delivery. We are beyond pleased with the whole experience. Thank you labor and delivery team.

My stay was pleasant from start to finish even with the massive snowstorm that hit as we were heading in. My labor/delivery and recovery went smoothly thanks to attentive doctors and nurses. This was my first use of this hospital but by far was my best hospital experience out of three births. The resident doctors were all kind and very informative, I never once felt uncomfortable with my medical care in their hands. I highly recommend Overland Park Regional and am glad this is the hospital I chose to give birth in.

I am so thankful for the hospital that I chose and my team of Doctors and Nurses. We ended up requiring an emergency csection to get my son out safely and the team here was able to respond in minutes to ensure that safety of myself and son. I will always be thankful for this place. I highly recommend planning to have your baby here!

I could not have been blessed with a better circumstance or people! It was amazing and all who worked with me were wonderful! They were personable caring and very supportive. I am a very lucky guy to have landed there when I did and there is no way I can even begin to repay the kindnesses that were extended to me by the facility and its staff! I will forever be indebted to the fine people for the work they did. From the emergency room staff to the Ambulance drivers to the surgeons and nurses in ICU and after in my private room. Kudos, many thanks, and a giant God Bless you to all!

Son came in with a possible broken leg, but all is good. Just a deep bruise. He’s been in the ER since 4:15 and now it is going on 8 and still haven’t even checked on him or see how he is doing. They say they are short staff, we’ll come in talk and explain that, don’t let him hang. Not recommend if you are just hurt. I have great health insurance. I will deflect my insurance company now how long it took.

Overall it was ok considering it's a hospital and COVID still a huge issue. Husband was admitted but never made it out of the emergency department due to all the COVID patients getting rooms before him-so this was not the hospital's fault. 2. It's their job to make sure you don't die not to make sure his bed was turned down for the evening.

In the ER, they got me in very quickly, however they were so busy that I had to be in a bed out in the hall next to the nurses station. There was no privacy as I was sharing the trauma that I had just experienced. A nurse also lifted my shirt to put leads on me as visitors were walking by and the person in the room across the hall at my foot had a straight earshot of everything I said and of everything they did to me. Even after that person left and the room was cleaned I remained in the hall until they took me to surgery. My support person and I could not have a conversation without everyone in the halls being able to hear. Once I got the room after the surgery, the nurses were all very attentive and kind. I just wish they would have reminded me to use a pillow as a support on my stomach as I coughed or tried to get out of bed. As a nurse, I did not think about it until I got home but that seems like basic nurses education that everyone with abdominal surgery should be given. Overall I was pleased with the care I received, they could have done just a few things better to get the 5 star rating from me.

All of the nurses were really nice and made delivering my first baby a good experience the staff was ready to help me quickly because my baby came a lot quicker then expected. And when the nurse took my baby to nursery for a few hours in the night and let my husband and I sleep was icing on the cake. They made discharge quick cause as nice as it was I was also ready to go home. Overall though I felt my baby and myself were safe and taken care of well.

The staff at Overland Park Regional were magnificent. From when I first walked in and registered, to preparation for my surgery. The Staff at O.P. Med. are the best. I couldn't find anything negative prior to my surgery, going into surgery and my recouperation period after surgery. Once in surgery, the Nurses and Doctors were all upbeat and not only made me comfortable prior to the procedure. Once surgery was completed, I received superb treatment from the nurses that took care of me. I've had various procedures at two other hospitals, but none can compare to the professionalism, caring staff and overall positive experience at had at O.P. Med. Thank you!

The labor and delivery nurses are so kind and helpful. I had a special experience at this hospital that I will forever remember with my baby and my family. All of the nurses care about your well-being and your baby so much. Have your baby here!!

My visit to Overland Park Regional’s ER was one of the best that I’ve had. I was able to get right in & was seen by a physician in a matter of a few minutes. The provider was caring, attentive and committed to helping me feel better. She clearly communicated each test and procedure done, as well as my plan of treatment once it was established. The nurses were also kind, compassionate and committed to helping me feel better as well. I would HIGHLY recommend OP Regional ER to anyone in the Johnson County Area. Grateful for their care!

I delivered my first baby at this hospital and had the most wonderful experience. We came in around 3 am and I had a slight complication arise during labor but the doctors and nurses made sure I stayed informed, calm, and comfortable. Every single nurse and doctor I saw was absolutely amazing. I ended up having a great delivery and our two day stay in Mother and Baby was phenomenal. In speaking about my experience to family, I have accidentally called it the hotel instead of the hospital. They made sure my family was taken care of and they answered any and every question I had with patience and kindness. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable; my husband slept surprisingly well on the couch! Everyone warned me I would hate hospital food, but my husband and I both enjoyed everything we ate! Special thanks to the nurses that helped me (I’m so sorry if I mess up spelling or forget anyone): Rayna, Tricia, Gloria, Ann, Taylor, Morgan, Jamie, and the lactation guru Beverly; you were all amazing and we appreciate you so much!!!!

Cynthia Beeler posting. The staff and doctors I met were good; the accommodations, not so good. I realize that it was a holiday weekend but there were several rooms in E D that were not being utilized and I had a 4 hour stay in a hallway with a few embarrassing moments. They were well staffed with some not busy at all. When they admitted me, there was no room in the hospital available so I was taken to the closed ED suite. All involved were thoughtful and eager to help. All that said, I would recommend this hospital.

My experience was wonderful, all of the staff was incredibly sweet, made my very tired self feel like I was hilarious (though I know half of what I said made no sense) and even had the sweetest man explain what I would go through with anesthesia. He was wonderful and one of the biggest things I remember from my stay. He made me laugh, made me feel comfortable, and made me feel like I knew exactly what to expect when going under. He wasn’t my actual anesthesiologist as he had been there all night, but even though he was most likely incredibly tired, he still had wonderful energy. I even wondered for a moment if he was from pediatrics. When I woke up, the woman in the room with me was incredibly sweet and soft-spoken. It made me feel calm even though I had no idea what was going on and was upset because my mom wasn’t with me. Even so, I felt safe with the woman because of how sweet she was. Everyone there was incredibly kind and respectful and made my fear of hospitals dwindle slightly. If I have to choose a hospital to go to in the future, I will choose this one.
