Staff very caring and helpful during my recovery from hip surgery. Mr Smith, my consultant was so understanding with my pre op, surgery and aftercare. He came everyday to check on my progress and, although a painful procedure, I wasn’t allowed to be in any pain.

Arriving to be treated for ovarian cancer was very daunting but I have consistently been treated so well and always with dignity and respect. All of the staff are super knowledgeable and very, very kind and caring. And it starts at the front desk. Beyond impressed.

Bishops Wood Hospital continues to provide an excellent service. A professional and friendly service was provided to me by Josephine in the Radiology Department. She was very efficient, made the mammogram as comfortable as possible for me and she checked regularly about how I was feeling.

I had surgery at bishops wood hospital and was impressed by the genuine care and kindness I received. The anaesthetist was great and his colleagues like Ash in theatre and Georgio in recovery made the whole experience calming and reassuring too. Surgeon, mr vedi, already has a great reputation and then the staff here all make it ultra pleasant. The nurses were all caring, intelligent and my only negative comment is the food is really not very thoughtful and could be improved but we don’t go to the hospital for food.

I had an operation here yesterday and I have completely overwhelmed by the EXCELLENT treatment I received. Every single person I encountered was charming, kind, caring and just brilliant at their job. I would particularly like to commend Dennis who cared for me post operation and through the night. What an incredible person and nurse he is. I was nervous about my op, and being on my own felt a little vulnerable but was really CARED for and that was an incredible feeling! It was more like a hotel stay rather than invasive surgery! Didn't know hospital experiences could be like this, have never in 52 years had such a positive caring experience. Thank you also to James the anesthetist who made me feel at ease, my surgeon Doctor Prabhudesai and to be honest every single person I encountered. Dennis deserves a massive pat on the back and more, a huge asset to this hospital.

Wonderful hospital, friendly, professional and caring staff. My entire experience from initial consultation to my surgery far exceeded my expectations. You feel that people genuinely care and have time for you. Special thanks and mentions to my consultant, Mr. Jay Smith, the physio team (who answered my endless questions) and the nursing staff (thank you Agnes and Mihaela for the care and kindness).

Good morning, I had a small surgery today but the wait was to long, as my appointment time was at 7.30 am and I was helped by 10 am. As the nurse over there told me that all the doctors and nurses come by 8 am and then they start to setup everything bur then it does not make sense why patients need to be there so early. This is not professional

BEWARE of the reviews - the service at this hospital during the DAY is very good - we have found the oncology nurses friendly, informative and supportive. If you need to be attended to during the NIGHT you are going to experience a DIFFERENT standard altogether. We have been attending this hospital over the past two weeks for my husband's treatment and have had a really mixed bag which has, unfortunately, included a couple of terrible nights - last night in particular was really awful (23 October 2022). Horrible experience from arrival to leaving - the nurse did not want to let us into the hospital via the most convenient entrance, did not introduce herself, did not show us to the treatment room, did not greet us at all, did not answer questions readily, did not check on my husband during his treatment, she just walked out of the treatment room when she had finished the treatment and did not even bother seeing us out of the building - shocking. The absolute worst bedside manner I have ever had the misfortune to witness - in fact, there were no manners at all. I would have thought that manners and a friendly disposition, apart from qualifications, obviously, would be one of the first prerequisites for a nurse looking after sick, vulnerable people attending a hospital, in particular at night when they are particularly fatigued and fragile.

I went to Bishopswood on a Sat for a consultant appointment with Dr Chauravorty, he made me feel very at ease and listened to my concerns and I also had a ultrasound and mammogram done on the same day and the lovely lady that did this was called Josephine Wain, she was very kind and was also brilliant at her job. I would highly recommend visiting this hospital as the staff are great.

I recently had a total hip replacement at Bishopswood hospital. Every level of care and treatment has been outstanding. Far too many names to mention but literally everyone deserves credit. I felt safe, secure and well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone and I feel confident on my road to recovery.

Very nice experience. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, doctor whom I had appointment with was approachable and wasn't rushing, asked questions about my other conditions, not related with the subject of this particular appointment. The facilities are quite modern and clean. Much nicer than any other hospitals I've been to.

Wow, just wow! I was admitted for about a day here and the service was nothing short of exemplary. The staff here are kind, friendly and exceptionally professional. My procedure was delayed for many hours, however, I was kept updated and given clear reasons behind the delays with options on the next steps. 5 star treatment all the way. Side Note: Went through my PMI, Vitality which was a real pain, since every step of the way through a treatment they want to give you their blessings to take the next steps. Axa was so much better and hassle-free when I had to use them for a similar treatment a few years ago. All it took for them was a single phone call. With Vitality, I've had to go through about 5 phone calls each averaging around 30-45 minutes. Vitality should be paying me for my time and helping them with their admin.

Treatment was excellent in every way but marred by the accounting. I spent £26k self funding on a bilateral hip replacement, couldn't make my final check up so rebooked it to find I was just outside my 6 months and they charged me £210 for a nice chat. I thought this was very petty especially as they never mentioned is was chargeable.

I had to be admitted to this hospital for 5 nights. I can’t complain about the staff. However for 3 nights the radiator in the room didn’t work and to make matters worse the radiator made a very loud noise and was vibrating. For 72 hours I didn’t get any sleep but this didn’t matter to the senior management as it was my sleep that was getting ruined for 3 nights whilst they slept peacefully- pretty selfish for an industry that specialises in taking care of the sick and venerable . Sad fact is this was not an NHS admission but private where by the health circle made over £6000 of profit. Despite being ill and coming for medical care and recovery the inundated facilities at Bishops wood hospital will make you realise that even the hospital in Gaza have better facilities than this hospital. The blame lies with the CEO of Blue Circle as he charges top premiums to patients but provided private rooms whereby basic amenities like radiators don’t work and with such nuisance noise throughout the night that no one gave two hoots about a care where they are charging me over £6000. Sadly no shame, as if this was a hotel the management would have had to offer accommodation for 3 nights as recompense to a room that was not fit for a patient. I have formally wrote to Blue Circle CEO and expect a full refund to these 3 days that have been formally reported to the hospital director who sadly has not offered any compensation but on the contrary and in a shameful way are trying to charge me for medication. Sadly as a patient not have I only endured an unfit room for a patient, but getting ripped off in this abhorrent manner. If Circle health had ensured that the room was maintained for a patient in line with hospital protocols then we would not be at this juncture. The ceo and hospital director will earn hundreds and thousands of pounds at the demise of a patient that had his sleep ruined for 3 nights without any heating!! Abhorrent and disgusting behaviour by Circle health group. I expect a full apology and full refund for these 3 nights . The noise and malfunction and the radiator was reported to the director at the hospital as I still have a recording. Its is unfortunately that when it come to taking money they are like hawk and taking your credit card details making sure the that Blue Circle does not loose even a penny, and yet that took full advantage of a patient because they didn’t invest in maintenance and I had to pay the price literally with money and my health. Unless compensation is forthcoming l will have no option but to ask my solicitor to start proceedings.

Thanks to all the staff for making my procedure (carpal tunnel release) almost a pleasure. All were smiling, caring and very positive. I am due back in two weeks to have the sutures removed and know that the smiles will still be there. Mr Al-Hadithy made me feel very at ease the whole time and at no time did I suffer any pain. Christine and Lynn were the nurses who took care of me superbly. I can wholeheartedly recommend Bishops Wood for any procedure. Thanks for all you did. Tony

Dr Khoo and Josephine are fantastic! Caring and also incredibly detailed. This way you know what to expect and when. Not sure an injection can be fun. However, they have great personalities that allow you to make the best of it 😊

The new make over of the outpatients dept is very nice visually but just about the most uncomfortable waiting room I have ever had to sit in. I have used this hospital since it first opened many many years ago and never have I been so uncomfortable as I was this morning. The chairs are no better than I would expect to find in a bus station or worse. They were obviously chosen by some designer who had no idea what he or she was doing with no thought for the patient whatsoever. You do not even warrant one star. Appalling. Numerous other people were also commenting on the seating.

I had to have an MRI with contrast today and being needle phobic, nothing was a problem for Josephine & Kishore. Both were absolutely amazing with me. Always making sure I was ok when my veins decided not to play ball and they could see I was nervous and anxious. They were so wonderful, caring and lovely. Highly recommend Bishops Wood Hospital and if you get Josephine & Kishore, you will be in great hands.

My experience having a knee arthroscopy couldn't have been better. The staff were kind, efficient, professional and inspired total confidence in their ability to care for me. Everything ran to schedule, which allowed plenty of time to relax before going home. I am self funding, but wouldn't hesitate to have further treatment at Bishops Wood.

Organization was superb and covered all necessary functions. The ward areas were bright and clean and the nursing staff were attentive and friendly. Waiting was minimal and the cataract operation was handled swiftly and with virtually no discomfort. I was very pleased with the whole event.

Have been treated by Dr Khoo twice now, and it has been a pleasure both times. He has given me steroid injections for arthritis I’m my thumbs. He has a charming, easy manner which puts you at ease immediately. He is extremely efficient, and so quick with local anaesthesia followed rapidly by the steroid that you barely notice the injection is done! He chats to distract you too. I was literally there for 5 or 6 minutes! The results have been wonderful, and each thumb has been pain free very quickly afterwards. Josephine, his nurse, was also charming, and helped to make the process free and easy. Highly recommend

I would highly recommend this hospital and staff. I had a recent visit with an urgent health concern, I was referred to Mr Arunmoy Chakravorty- he was extremely professional, kind and empathetic to my concerns. After further tests I immediately had a follow up appointment, where Mr Chatravorty took the time to explain fully my results, and I was given the opportunity to ask any questions. I was seen promptly at my appointment time, and I found all the staff that I met were very respectful, and calm, which made the whole process a lot less stressful than it could have been, I felt that all the staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and at ease. The hospital and waiting areas were very clean also. What a brilliant team of amazing health professionals- thank you so much.

A very comfortable and reassuring experience. All the staff were very attentive and kind and professional and put me at ease throughout. I felt looked after and kept in the loop so that I understood my procedure and each step, the only exception being no follow up with the consultant surgeon afterward the operation itself. My nurse Mihaela was especially accommodating and nothing was too much trouble, she was ace. Thank you! 🤩

  • 4/5 Bob T. 8 months ago on Google
Staff were great, operation went very well. The room I was in (507) got incredibly hot during the day and lasted throughout the night, making my stay sweaty and uncomfortable. An aircon unit was provided but the exhaust pipe would not fit through the limited opening of the window so the heat would feed back into the room. A simple wall mounted fan would’ve improved the situation immensely.

My clinical care was excellent (and met my expectations). However, 2 weeks later I received a parking fine for having parked in the car park which I successfully appealed (after sharing the appointment and discharge letters). In the response they stated: "All motorists must register their vehicle registration number on the console inside. Please ensure that when validating your parking you have entered the full and correct vehicle registration number. This will prevent a PCN being issued." What console are they referring to? Neither mention nor form for parking was given at reception on either of my visits. Can the Hospital please ensure that patients on arrival are properly informed? Getting a parking ticket and having to share sensitive information to appeal is a form of harassment frankly, especially when you are recovering. Update: 21/6/23 Thanks for your reply. I did not see the signage, nor did I see any pay or display signs or any tickets on display in neighbouring cars (which is what most people look for). And neither was I informed at reception when given the medical forms to fill in (on both occasions). So again, can the Hospital please ensure patients are verbally informed?

I needed a steroid injection into a deep hip muscle and I was extremely anxious about it. I had avoided having it done for years. I shouldn't have worried. Dr Khoo and Michelle at Bishops Wood were very reassuring and gave me confidence. They carried out the procedure swiftly and I felt almost nothing. I was astounded when they told me it was all done! Thanks to Dr Khoo and Michelle, I have lost all my fear of having the procedure repeated should the need arise. I would have no hesitation in recommending them, and the hospital.

I was under Mr Jay Smith and my total hip replacement went very well under his guidance and he has a very caring nature and always took time to explain how important the post care is. I found from the moment I entered the hospital, everyone was caring and service with a smile. Post surgery physios in the ward were excellent as well as after my discharge I was under the excellent care of Tighish, Senior Physio. She is absolutely brilliant and was very caring about my progress and making sure I was doing my exercises correctly. On discharge she made sure I knew how important the exercises were for my future progress.

My experience at Bishopswood was 5 star+ from start to finish. Reception staff were really helpful and kind, and the nurses you meet greet you with a smile putting you at ease, and this includes the super night staff. They are very professional and empathetic along with being hardworking and nothing is too much for them. The Physios were really knowledgeable and drive you firmly but gently to achieve your targets. The kitchen staff were simply amazing too, nothing was a problem for them. Mr Naique my consultant has been absolutely fantastic I have already had one knee replacement by him and his team a short while ago, and this second procedure looks like it will be equally as good. I am absolutely thrilled with the whole experience.Regards to you all and a with a big thank you.

My overall experience as an inpatient for a surgical procedure at Bishops Wood was exceptional. I would especially like to thank my surgeon, Mr. Majithia, and the consultant anaesthetist, Dr. Elgar, as well as the theatre, ward, and pre-operative assessment staff, Lynn, Cristiana, Zara, Zola, Christine, Roy, Janet, Ferhana, Khushbu, Katie, Zeniada, and Emma, for their compassion, understanding of my needs, and the special treatment they offered me! Additionally, the main reception staff's greeting was outstanding. Bishops Wood is a highly recommended hospital because its team covers your needs for your treatment with special attention and high standards of compassion and care!! Thank you all so much!
