We
approached
Brighton
Community
Kitchen
with
a
slightly
silly
idea
that
perhaps
they
could
arrange
a
birthday
bake-off
for
10-12
people.
They
jumped
on
the
idea
and
really
ran
with
it
to
make
it
a
lovely
success!
They
already
knew
a
pastry
chef,
Charlotte
(
@charlottesofbrighton
),
who
gave
me
a
call
a
couple
of
weeks
beforehand
to
see
if
there
was
anything
in
particular
I
wanted
us
to
bake,
or
any
tweaks
I
wanted
to
the
proceedings.
The
birthday
patisserie
bake-off
was
amazing
honestly
-
my
friends
got
SO
excited
to
hear
about
it
and
were
so
keen
to
come.
It
was
great
that
the
team
at
the
Brighton
Community
Kitchen
was
very
open
to
the
idea
we
had
for
this
party,
especially
as
it
might
have
been
a
bit
different
from
what
the
venue
usually
does.
On
the
day
it
honestly
didn't
disappoint!
They
even
let
us
bring
one
extra
person
last-minute.
The
team
was
lovely
and
we
were
really
well
looked
after
by
staff
and
a
volunteer
-
they
did
all
the
tidying
and
washing
up
at
light-speed,
taking
all
the
annoying
parts
out
of
baking.
Everyone
was
really
welcoming
and
it
was
brilliant
to
hear
what
the
kitchen
does
in
its
wider
work.
Glad
we
came
here,
to
somewhere
with
a
social
purpose,
rather
than
some
other
trendy
class
that
would
have
charged
twice
the
price.
I'm
really
happy
you
got
hold
of
Charlotte
to
do
this
event
too,
she's
super
down-to-earth
and
great
at
explaining
what
we
needed
to
do.
Also
very
touched
that
volunteers
put
their
time
into
making
this
a
truly
charming
success.
Thanks
for
putting
up
with
us
all
singing,
dancing
and
cackling
loudly
at
our
own
jokes
about
'Paris-Brest'
and
'cupping
the
bag'
...
you're
all
amazing!
I'll
definitely
keep
an
eye
on
future
events
at
BCK
and
would
recommend
to
anyone
else
wanting
a
culinary-based
party!
