This was an amazing stop. So educational, and many interactive exhibits plus a dam tour. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. So good, I would happily pay admission were it required. Plus, they had a nice little cafe/shop with soft serve for us when we were done. Also very nice playground and picnic grounds. We also used the EV charging station. Please consider installing a few more, as it's a really great amenity!

Very fascinating. Our tour guide was so friendly and offered us a private tour. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful, well worth walking around enjoying the landscaping. The Cafe owners were friendly, quick and served GF bread which is wonderful.

Nice place. Lots of information available. Viewing is across 4 floors. Fish ladders are worth seeing especially during migration season.

Came here after seeing them advertised on a movie preview at the theater. We are from out of state and thought it would be kind of nice and interesting to see. The kids really liked it. Especially the boat steering part (Titanic moment). There was some good and cool pieces of information. Worth another trip if I'm ever in the area again.

If you have children and traveling in Eastern Washington, this is the-must visit discovery center! We have learned a lot about the project, electricity and the fish bypass system. There is a tour to get inside the dam and I highly recommend taking it. You will see from inside how much effort the Chelan PUD put to built the dam and fish bypass system that helps salmon and steelhead on their way to the ocean.

This place is absolute gem near Chelan. It’s informative for kiddos with all displays and salmon ladder, binoculars, little games on balcony, separate play area inside. For adults , they have native Chelan history displays. It’s beautifully designed and clean. Outside they have gazebos to picnic and beautiful flower displays. It’s absolute must stop if you are in East Washington and have children.

Gorgeous setting. Discovery center offers three stories of interactive and museum quality displays. Kid friendly, clean, bright and attractive displays. Views of the dam and river. Outside grounds are landscaped and include walking paths and playground. It’s all FREE. Absolutely a wonderful experience and the highlight of our day.

Fantastic place for discovery and environmental awareness! Loved learning about the history of Chelan PUD & their present efforts to protect adult & juvenile fish species in the Columbia River 🐟🏞️ Admission is free so make the most of it as you explore the interactive displays & exhibits spread out across 4 levels. Take the 30min free tour—it’s enjoyable & educational! The tour guide was super enthusiastic & friendly, making the experience spectacular 🤗

This was a really cool place to visit. There were 4 adults in our group and we scored a private tour by the lead educator who was fun and informative. The dam is fascinating and gave me a new appreciation for hydroelectricity. The bypass system for the salmon in both directions is amazing.

Such a great place to learn the history of the Chelan PUD and their efforts to protect fish species in the Columbia River. We took the tour as well as explored the Discovery Center and had so much fun. The kids were interested in the displays and mostly the fish ladder underwater viewing area. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and it only lasted about 30 minutes. Perfect stop for our family!

Really fun experience on well maintained grounds with friendly staff and tour guides, but honestly this review is mainly for the cafe. The exhibits are well put together and informative. Tour guides could use a better speaker with large groups, but we still had a good time. The high pitch bird deterrents though are painful even to a 35 year old and should be removed for other methods. The cafe here is wildly better than it has any right to be. We thought we'd have a quick lunch before eating in town for main meal, and quickly discovered one of the best places to get lunch around. My wife got a Southwest Chicken Sandwich which came with fresh focaccia bread, which was huge and came with a ton of avocado for under 8 dollars. My daughter had a turkey cranberry sandwich that she adored, and I had a club that I could barely fit in my mouth, both for $7. For the price we figured it would be barely passable, not very flavorful with friendly staff. Additionally, when they ran out of burgers, they offered to refund us $10 over the price of the food which we refused. Worth coming for the sandwiches alone, especially at this price.

I hadn’t been to the dam in years. The visitor center was completely remodeled and so much fun for the grandkids. They were mesmerized by the fish viewing area. After visiting the museum we walked to the playground to have a picnic and play time. Great memories, facilitated by the PUD’s attention to detail.

Amazing place. The lady was super Friendly. Child activities for smaller kids and bigger. Kids were really happy and enjoyed it. They even got some gifts like fish necklaces and a coloring book. Best part it’s free. You probably spend about 30 to 1,5 h here . Cool quick activity for the whole family with educational touch.
