I have been here a couple of times but now I have the time to write a review for this wonderful restaurant. The restaurant is well-known for its roasted ducks, and they were super delicious and crispy. The staff is super friendly and attentive to your order. I feel like the restroom is a little bit small for this famous restaurant. Overall, I am super happy with my great experience here and I highly recommend people to visit

Best BBQ pork in town! Came here 12 years ago when I studied in Seattle and they still maintain the same consistent quality. I missed having their roast pork though (it was sold out already when I get there). Would recommend you to try their scrumptious meal if u happen to visit Seattle!

A landmark in the international district, known for their delicious roast pork, duck, and chicken. One of the best bang for your buck lunch specials in town: $9 for BBQ pork, fried rice, and steamed vegetables + your choice of one of many proteins (roast pig, bbq spare ribs, soy sauce chicken, etc).

Got a few lbs of the crispy pork and the ginger chicken. Good price. Pork was a little on the salty side that day but the ginger chicken was great. I wish they used actual free range chicken that would be awesome.

Updated Nov. 1/23 - Yet again another stellar lunch. Had the lunch special and it was perfection. Service is very fast & efficient, and the hosts are more than kind! Sooo looking forward to coming back. Previously: June 31/23: Met Richard & Lynn the owners @ KK, what lovely people. Yet again the food was amazing! Our takeaway BBQ Duck & Pork (yes we returned!!) was awe inspiring! Kau Kau is simply the best, both in food and service!!! Previous post: PERFECT!! Just what we had hoped for. The Roast Duck was superb, the Hot & Sour Soup was excellent, the Pork Fried Rice was divine and the Shrimp with Garlic was amazing! The ladies running the place are extremely helpful, kind and appreciative. We WILL return.****NEXT TIME we are trying the BBQ Pork, it's supposed to be the BEST in town and heaven knows a TON of folks were walking in buying it by the bag full!

We paid for parking to come dine in and was surprised they only have the dining room opeing on weekends, so we had to get the food to go. I got the half duck for $14 and the meats do not come with any sides, so you have to buy rice and veggies if you want. It does come with one "duck sauce" that tasted more like regular soy sauce and i did not like it much. You can but I suggest buying the plum sauce for .60c each to go with it. They were out of chicken, and that's one of the main things I came for. He did butcher the duck in front of you, and that's nice, but don't expect the bones the be cut out; you just have to eat around them. The portions are great for the price overall, but when you add the sauces and the sides, it does get a bit expensive. I would try again next time I'm in Seattle, but maybe go for lunch instead.

Very old school Chinese BBQ place. Got the rice plates and the BBQ pork and roast pork with the crispy skin were pretty good. However our roast duck was too salty and the soy sauce chicken just a little dry but we got white meat, perhaps next time see if the dark meat if better.

Again we came here because Mikey Chen from Strictly Dumplings recommended it. We arrived just as they opened so we didn't have to wait. We were promptly seated at the back, round table. It was perfect with two rambunctious toddlers. We ordered their Roast Pork noodles for our girls, and my gosh! It was a massive portion of absolutely delicious noodles. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Hubby and I both got their lunch specials which came with delicious soup. I forgot to take a pic of hubby’s lunch. He had got the shrimp and chicken combo, and he loved it. I got the roast duck and bbq pork combo, and my gosh, I loved it so much. The food was delicious, the price was right, and the service was excellent! What more could we ask for? Highly recommend.

Disappointed with the combo as it didn’t even fill the bottom of the container and we received just straight fat. If our cuts were more proportionate of fat to meat it would fly, but it’s all fat (gross and not edible). The duck was also disappointing since we received 3 pieces for $10. Honey walnut prawns are a disappointment!!! They for sure gave us lots of rice though haha.

I was brought here by my sponsor and all of us enjoyed every dish that was brought out. The staff here are very kind and attentive. They produce high quality meals and a very high level of service and care. This will be a spot that I frequent when I am in the Chinatown area. Come down and find out first hand how great this authentic cultural food is. You will leave with a full stomach and satisfied with what you order. Very clean environment. Compliments to the chef.

Got them on a bit of an off day this time but if you've never had proper Cantonese BBQ, this is a great spot. I got a quarter duck, BBQ Combination (roast pork (Char siu), roast pig (pork belly), and Char siu ribs), and stir fried string beans - Char siu and ribs were great as always, but about half of the roast pig we got was all fat and pretty much inedible. The string beans were alright, but it's always good to have some vegetables. Duck was respectable but not exceptional. It's a good go to though for Cantonese BBQ, even if the line can take a bit to get through when it gets busy.

Used to go here all the time before Covid. So sick of restaurants and their poor quality. Ordered two fried rice. Both were OLD, tasteless, burnt and terrible!! ! Very disappointed! Wouldn't feed this to my dog. And restaurant wonder why they're disappearing. Don't waste your money!!!!!!

Excellent BBQ pork. The Peking duck is also good, but the pork is the real winner here. Love the vibe of the place. Feels very family-run and old school.

Best Chinese restaurant. This is one of my families, favorite places. It is located in Seattle. The service is fast. The restaurant seating area itself is small. When the weather is good, we like to pick our food up and go to a park. The parking downtown is tight but worth it. Their menu has a lot to choose. They serve the meal family style so you can share – I love that. I highly recommend trying the roasted duck, the pea pods, a honey walnut shrimp (it’s so good and melts in your mouth), the crispy roasted pork is the best with hot mustard. There isn’t anything on their menu that I’ve ever tried that I did not like! A must when visiting Seattle. YUM 😋

Kau Kau is in the heart of the International District and has an extremely large menu of Chinese food. They "specialize" in duck as seen from the front window. Inside they have a good amount of tables, including large family style ones. Food is pretty cheap and portion sizes are a lot. The service is great, mom and pop style for sure. Would definitely go here during lunch as their lunch special is fantastic.

One of the best bbq pork in downtown. The portion is very big. The taste was so good even though it looks unattractive.

Got the bbq pork, roast pork (pork belly with crispy skin) and duck. And the best one out of all of them was the bbq pork, it has a slight sweet taste by it self and their plum sauces was great as well.

The roasted pork is divine. Crispy and very savory (might be too salty for some people). If you are going here, you have got to order their roasted pork. The BBQ pork is also very delicious. Price is relatively reasonable. Lunch special is $9.70 and other dishes are around $15 during the date this review is written.

Tried the roast pork and BBQ pork. I thought they would be hot, but they were more cold than expected. Not sure why because we got them during the CID Food Walk when there was a huge line. The reviews seem to favor the BBQ pork, but I actually liked roast pork better. Yes, it did have some fatty parts but I liked the crispy skin and how tender the meat was even though it was not hot. On the other hand, the BBQ pork was a bit tough and not very tender. Would def come back for lunch specials if I am in the area again.

We had the lunch special and it was amazing, we got a chicken soup, rice with bbq pork and roasted duck along with 2 shingtoa beers. Family run and they were very helpful and happy to serve us. Will surely come back.

Taste: 5 Price: 5 Quality: 5 Quantity: 5 Service: 4 If you haven’t dined in ID, this is a great place to start. We came here with a group of 6 and did a family style meal. The dining experience here is very matter of fact. That is, you come here for the food. We really enjoyed everything about our meal. We did the bbq pork, which is a must try, the green beans, the fried rice, and the chow foon with beef - I think we did the dry. I think the bbq pork, while it is great, tasted as though it was prepared ahead of time. Again, I thought it was great, but if we are splitting hairs, tasted as though it wasn’t made fresh. All that to say, we loved it. I’d recommend and will certainly be back.

Server was friendly, duck was top notch. Lunch special was #worthit. Would recommend. Place could use some sprucing up, tho. And they charged us a dollar for hot tea, tho they served it without us asking for it.......
