My wife and had limited time and limited funds for our anniversary. The Old St. Francis School was perfect. Lots to do on sight, a Movie Theater, Mineral Spa, Restaurant, multiple Bars including a Cigar Bar, Hiden Rooms that can be found in the multiple buildings and fire pits throughout the vast outdoor seating areas. Our room was called the Rambler, the head board was a painting of an old Rambler grill, there was also matching artwork. I was probably more excited about the Rambler room than my wife. That staff was wonderful, the service was a 10 out 10. The drinks were great. The food was typical McMenamins "passable", breakfast was a surprise, Wow, I had the best biscuits gravy of my life. Overall it was a great experience, my wife and I very grateful the McMenamins and their staff for providing such a wonderful experience for anniversary.

Had a great time in the family suite! If anyone plans on the couches as being a sleeping option they need to like a very firm mattress and make arrangements for additional bedding. I didn't make those plans, my friend made them for me, I still love him. I need a chiropractor, it's a comfortable couch for sitting on. The two bathrooms are in each bedroom. There's a mini fridge with no freezer space, there's a coffee make without coffee but there's fresh coffee served in the halls every morning along with tea bag choices, hot water, half n half, sugar, sugar substitute. The room had plenty of plates, bowls, utensils. It truly is a wonderful place to gather!

This is one of the more interesting McMenamins locations in Oregon. It echoes the common themes from all of their locations around the northwest, with weird quirky artwork, dark interior themes, and an atmosphere that is hard to place. The school proper has guest rooms, bars, outdoor patios, ample choice of where you want to eat and drink. Across the street there is an annex including a cigar bar, more outdoor patio space, and more guest rooms in a three-story building that is accessible to bar-goers during the evening hours. If you're smart enough to figure it out, you can make it to the broom closet bar on the top floor of the building. Other secrets can be discovered if you explore.

In A Nutshell: -McMenamins Old St. Francis School located in Bend, Oregon is another great restaurant in the regional chain. -I always like to order their famous tater tots & blackberry cider & so should you! -This location is an old elementary school converted into a cool hotel & restaurant. Overall, I always enjoy checking out a new McMenamins whenever I visit different towns in Oregon.

Old St. Francis School is one of those historic places in Downtown Bend. This location for McMenamins is truly unique. I personally love Okane's cigar lounge for casual date nights. It's a good spot for first dates or contact their offices and book a large hall for events. However, I would discourage large groups or families from here because the hallways and rooms are just so small and the place gets filled up quickly with rude tourists

I'm posting in regards to the pub. Overpriced. Waitress seemed annoyed we were there. She would not look at my husband. My husband is kind and respectful. So I watched her interact with other men. She was normal with them. Only difference my husband had an American flag that said veteran on it. Hard to not think that is why she was so rude to him. My husband ordered a burger, no tomato, no onion with tots. Got the burger had everything on it with fries. Told them...crickets. It was easy to remove the toppings but it would of been nice if he got his tots. At this point he was hungry and just went with it. He was never asked or given a refill of his ice tea but I received a refill of my water. Also no ice? Why? My Hawaiian pulled pork was delicious though. We live near many McMenamins but never had been. Now I know why friends said, "Don't bother just an overpriced burger." Won't go back.

This is the worst McMenamins I've ever been to let alone one of the worst places to stay in bend. The dishes are not washed properly, if you want to drink or eat from dirty dishes with fingerprints and lip stains then this is the place for you. The food is mediocre and overpriced. The hospitality and guest services are entitled and treat you like garbage despite the horrible overinflated prices you pay. Do not waist your money. Pretty much anywhere else you can stay is better than McMenamins bend. The manager for room services is beyond rude and disgruntled. . Her and some of the staff harassed my fiance and myself leaving us wondering why we ever came her at all in the past 30 years. Please listen and take precaution. Avoid the front desk management and guest and room services staff. This woman definitely hates her job .

Service was spotty in the pubs because of the holiday and low staffing, new staff. We expected waiting, but it was very slow, didn't get stuff we ordered, we were forgotten several times, etc. The food tasted good, drinks were fine. The atmosphere was fun. Room service was great though. Hotel staff were nice and helpful. Room was clean, cozy, beds comfortable. In-room coffee is good, and having robes was a nice thing. The soaking pool was fun. Clean, water temp good, not too crowded. Walking through the pub in your robe to get to the pool is necessary. 😅 (You can just go to the nearby changing room and change there, but we were too lazy.) Parking is a pain. Hotel guests should get assigned spots.

I was feeling really overwhelmed and couldn't drive far so I stopped at a classic spot, Mcmenamins. I was greeted by a kind face and warm inviting person named Rachel and she brought me to a mellow table outside where my server (Johnny) got me set up. It was fast service and kind faces and honestly exactly what I needed in the moment. Thank you so much. You were more helpful than you know.

Every single time we've stayed here we've said, "this is the best room in the whole place!" They just keep getting better. Ask for the room with the kitchenette or the one with two bathtubs in it!

We are from Arkansas and came in on a recommendation from local family. Great choice! Food was great, but Morgan was AWESOME! We loved her, and we're very thankful for the experience with family! Very unique and great spot!

We just adore this hotel chain - but the St Francis in Bend is particularly awesome! We’ve come over the years with young kids, teens, and now our young adults - it never fails to please all. And love the fact we can bring our dog(s)!!

Always a great experience here, there's so much to enjoy even just right on the property, but it's in a great and walkable location in downtown Bend too. Beautiful rooms, a funky and cool space with hidden gems throughout, and the food and drinks are stellar. Our favorite place to stay in Bend.

My son, his wife, and my three Grandkids went for the afternoon Theatre/luncheon and had the best time! The staff were so accommodating and friendly adding to the perfect atmosphere for kids and adults alike. The (kids) show was adorable and funny and at one point my youngest grandchild said "Thats Cwazy!" so loud we all laughed. The food was promptly served and very good, the serving sizes so generous we had to take some home in boxes, (naturally, we filled up on popcorn first) What a good idea to let children enjoy time with their adult family members inside a McMenamins!

One of my favorite McMenamins I've ever been too! It's such a fun collection of buildings with all the traditional fun trappings of the other big McMenamins hotels, but in downtown Bend near so many other fun things. The hidden speakeasy was one of my favorite things (and no, I will not give any clues on how to find it) but the other little hidden rooms were my kids favorite things to search for. The restaurant has one of the fancier McMenamins menus, and everything we got was delicious but the clams were the biggest hit. Their bar selection is the same great stuff you'd expect at any McMenamins, and there's multiple small bars, all with their own vibe. The pool looks like a Greco Roman bath house and is especially gorgeous during certain times of day when the light is shining through the stained glass. We had the family suite, which gives you the upstairs of one of the buildings with three bedrooms and plenty of room to bring kids and grandparents for a get away.

The variety of things on the property is impressive and has lots of different flavors of good vibe. Food was just okay, but the price was right. Service was fine but not amazing. Would recommend stopping by based on the wide variety of things to do. Also the drinks were great and quick.

My husband and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary! The soaking pool was our favorite part of our stay! The temperature was perfect! Our room was cute and funky but the pillows were super flat and uncomfortable! It was fun being right in downtown so we were able to walk everywhere! We had great service at the restaurant and would recommend the hot apple cider with cinnamon whisky!

Watching a movie here is worth it. Smoking a cigar at the cigar bar here is worth it. That's all I would say is worth it. The food is okay, a bit expensive for the quality but okay. However, multiple times here throughout the years I have had to argue final receipt amounts. I believe you shouldn't go out to eat if you don't have the money to tip well (at least 20%), so I always tip at least 20, even if a server isn't doing their best. But still, every so often over the years, I will see my card is charged with an extra at least 10 dollars for tip. The owners are aware. I have had to start taking photos of my receipts in order to be able to contest. So that's just my recommendation for others if you buy drinks there, make sure to get a receipt. If you want a strong drink, this isn't the place to go, but if you just want to enjoy some time with friends or family and not be too intoxicated, this is a nice spot. It's quirky and has a history. I've never stayed at the hotel section before, so I cannot speak on that.

Had fun doing the scavenger hunt and passport stamp hunt. Hidden rooms and even a speakeasy bar hidden somewhere on premises. However it took a long time to get food. And a long time to get the check. Some Items they were out of... which... its a busy place. Cool hang out and its one that has a movie theater or 2.

This was our first stay at a McMenamins property. It won't be our last! We stayed almost a full week and our front desk person steered us to a cozy and spacious room. The location is great - a short walk to downtown, the Old Mill District, the Deschutes River, and a ton of breweries, but also sort of on the periphery of a residential area so a bit quieter. We didn't get to the movie theater, but we did hit the restaurants and bars, mineral pool, and speakeasy. We had a terrific stay at the Old St Francis School and we will be back.

Came for Sunday brunch. Very busy so we sat at the bar. Had very good corned beef hash..corned beef was juicy and tender. Love all McMenamins locations but St. Francis School is local to Central Oregon. Been here many times and we will be back.

Only commenting on entertainment and drinks. I am very familiar with many McMenamin properties and am always delighted with their accomplishments. They take old classic properties, rejuvenate them and give them new life with special charm. They involve local artists and musicians in their business plans. On this night the music was local and really good. I was able to get my most favorite adult beverage from their well stocked bar, Pendleton Whiskey.

Such a delightful and magical place. Loved our room, all the art, the delightful decorating, beautiful grounds - attended an event at the Tower Theater - a 4 minute walk from the hotel - highly recommend. Can't wait to go back

The food was good and our waitress Mila was wonderful and very accommodating. they had a fire pit going outside that was warm and smelled so good. My husband recommends the ruby beer. Our baby recommends the sweet potato fries :)

Cool spot in Bend, we were hoping to find a proper Irish or British pub, but this was close enough. Beautiful building and outdoor area. Glad that it is really dog friendly. It's nice how they have their own liquors and beer, but it would be nice to have some recognizable brands too. Irish stout was good, but not great. Their whiskey left something to be desired, seemed quite watered down. The fish and chips were okay, heavy greasy breading and overcooked fish. The fries were brown, soggy, and over salted. Sadly the best part was the cole slaw, thankfully was delicious. The staff was friendly and efficient. It's a place for the ambiance, not the food, I probably won't come back.
