Zero
stars
if
I
could.
Robbing
patients
and
parents
blind
by
this
nebulous
facility
fee
which
they
have
skirted
along
the
line
of
legality
and
certainly
crossed
the
line
of
ethics
by
getting
licensed
as
a
hospital-based
clinic
by
the
state.
Another
abuse
of
power
by
a
large
hospital
entity.
There
is
no
added
‘hospital’
benefit
to
seeing
there
doctors
in
these
‘annex’
sites
aka
this
is
no
more
a
hospital
clinic
than
your
local
private
doctor’s
office.
If
your
child
requires
admission
to
a
hospital,
rest
assured
the
ambulance
is
being
called
and
they
will
be
transported
to
the
nearest
hospital
and
you
will
be
paying
the
fee
for
that.
A
facility
fee
charge
was
designed
to
pay
for
costs
that
a
doctor
who
does
not
work
directly
for
the
hospital
incurs
for
the
hospital
when
using
their
facilities
to
treat
their
patients-
OR
room
charge
and
staff,
medical
equipment
and
maintenance
charges,
PACU
care,
etc.
It
was
not
designed
for
standard
clinic
visits
and
is
essentially
in
this
scenario
is
double
billing.
The
hospital
has
already
negotiated
on
behalf
of
their
employed
physician
a
global
fee
for
an
office
appointment
which
is
based
on
the
level
of
visit
(complexity
and
time
spent
with
patient.).
This
global
fee
is
to
cover
physician
cost
and
their
overhead
(additional
staff,
office
rent,
etc.).
When
billing
a
facility
fee
and
also
this
physician
global
fee
for
their
employed
physicians,
the
hospital
is
getting
paid
twice
for
the
same
costs,
without
additional
benefit
to
the
patient
or
our
health
care
system
at
large.
In
fact,
this
kind
of
egregious
and
unethical
billing
practice
contributes
to
the
astronomical
cost
of
health
care
in
our
country
and
those
costs
are
being
passed
along
to
the
insured
while
cutting
out
many
who
cannot
afford
such
high
costs
of
medical
care.
I
can’t
believe
this
practice
is
being
tolerated
by
patients
and
by
our
state
bureaucracy.
I
will
support
a
local
private
practice
when
I
can
but
acknowledge
that
Children’s
has
a
monopoly
on
many
pediatric
specialties,
allowing
for
little
choice
in
the
matter
by
the
vulnerable
who
depend
on
them
most
for
care.
Shame
on
you,
Children’s
Hospital.
An
easy
google
search
shows
your
CEO’s
salary
ranks
consistently
in
the
top
10
highest
in
the
country
at
over
$1
million
while
you
pass
along
these
bogus
fees
to
your
patients.
