I have dealt with a lot of med students through UW, obviously it’s a teaching hostpital but after my last visit to Mountlake E.R. I will never return to a UW facility. The male med student that was helping to get all of the details of why I was there made a pompous & rude comment, referring to people coming to the E.R. Because everyone thinks they have cancer now a days. People go to the doctor because it’s too common to have cancer & not be aware until a doctor is intelligent enough to open their eyes. His comment made me sick to my stomach. I sincerely hope he obtains a better attitude for patients and a better mind set. My husband died of cancer after many staff failures at UW & my mother was mis-diagnosed 3 times by 2 different doctors until a doctor finally took the proper steps to look at the problem instead of assuming. I left this urgent care with no answers and disappointed at what my money paid for. To the med student, I hope you look at the whole issue of the next patient because you have people lives in your hands, assumptions are not good enough.

I'm staying in the hospital with my brother who has stage 4 lung cancer. He has been here a week for dehydration and complications from chemo. His team has been AMAZING! If you need hospital care, UW and Fred Hutch are #1, no question. The RNs, Docs, specialty care folks have been caring, respectful, kind and have made his time here as pleasant as possible.

Came to the emergency room about 11:30 pm February 1stFor my 21 year-old daughter that was admitted to the hospitalThe nurse that check us in did her job and was very polite and niceShe informed us that only one person can go back and be with are Daughter Sitting in the waiting roomFor about an hourThe three nurses and 3GuardsWasChatting it up like it was a partyUsing profound language And making racial commentsAnd hanging on each Like they was a teenage couple After their little party has died downI got up and asked a questionAnd the one nurseSaid to me after I was already there for over an hourThat I had to leave the waiting room and wait outside In a very rude and uncompassionate manner I only ask one sentence to her about Information for my daughterBut it really seemed to annoy herAnd then I said I've been here over an hour10 ft away from. You have the rules changeThen she saidI can get the security guardWow

Horrendous care. Admitted my mother who has congestive heart failure to the emergency room, as she's experiencing shortness of breath and extreme chest pain. Blood pressure was 198/125 (stroke level) Waited in the lobby for 30 minutes and then an individual room for another 30 before a nurse tech came in for the xray. So far we've had about 2 minutes of face to face time with a doctor who wouldn't even look at her chart to see which tests were ordered to be performed at this very same hospital tomorrow. Nurses refusing pain management even though she's writhing on the bed, and will only offer Tylenol. Really feels like she's just another number here, and while I understand that ER is different than the general hospital, NONE of the people in her care team seem to care at all. Got here before 7PM and it is now 10:30....still no doctor. EDIT: She was finally put in a room where she could be monitored for a few days at 3AM

My wife has severe TMJ she called 911 today and was transported to the UW Emergency room with anxiety and 10/10 pain they checked her in at 3:30 pm then wheeled her to the waiting room. We asked at 5pm for water so she could take her muscle relaxers and if a nurse could bring her something to help with the anxiety. They did nothing then at 8pm we asked if we could have a nurse at-least check her being that her pain level increased. Then after still being ignored at 9pm we got up and left. This is not a good emergency room and I understand being busy but we will never return and never recommend UW so much for world class medicine.

This is the worst hospital. This is anything but an emergency room. We were made to wait all day for some basic tests. We were made to sit hungry and without water because the tests need to be on an empty stomach. Ok then do the tests quickly. The doctor is supposedly busy with other patients but I walk around and I see a bunch of doctors laughing and cracking jokes with each other. What kind of an emergency room is this?!

1 star cause the employees suck. I wouldn't trust them with my life even if death was a possibility. Hire somebody that understands management and human nature to begin with and have them beat these employees into shape. But I doubt this will happen. American culture is likely a culprit of poisoning the minds of young professionals to be apathetic, lazy, sociopathic, narcissistic, and plain bad at their job. It's a social issue. That's why you need someone who sees reality to change this place.

Let’s be clear, these SNOW WHITE STARS are for the Cafeteria. It literally take them 1Hour and 15 minutes to 1 an 45 minutes to deliver your food then when it do come. It’s ice cold. So my nurses have to microwave it EVERY PLATE I GET, not only that Something is always miss on my plate. So If your a Patient here, your in TROUBLE. But the Nurses and Doctors here get 5 ⭐️, there Great !!!! Ask for well done eggs and there Still wet. The Cafeteria is The WORST. PS. That one star is there because I had to push it just to Post this. They Get NO STARS .!!

They place me in a hallway because I came in with shortness of breath that comes in waves. So I'm having an episode and I flag a nurse down because I can't breath and she's like you can't stay here because this is for COVID patients and rolls me into the lobby because my COVID test came back negative and the charge nurse says she will be right back to check my vitals but after a hour she never came back. I ended up leaving and going to harbor view.

Nurses were rude to us and has an attitude, told them about why we were there and they said “no one is going to do surgery on you at 7 PM” I was put in the back on a bed and waited for over 45 minutes with nurses and doctors walking by saying nothing. Nurses aren’t wearing masks and can be seen on the monitors wandering the halls instead of helping patients. They also are refusing beds to other patients even though there are open beds. I saw one medical member give discharge papers and walk away without saying anything, even when a patient asked where the exit is, they proceeded to close the door on the patient.

I went to the ER with extremity swelling, chest pain and several other concerning symptoms. They do some tests and tell me they're all normal... only to then 12 hours later release an updated report on the ecg that it actually was not normal. Now I have to wait 6 weeks for a test they likely could have done at the hospital had they just read the ekg properly when I was there. I've been here during the day and it was a very different experience. I'm guessing once the students go home they don't really care. They literally put all the stuff on me for a heart monitor but never actually hooked it up to anything. Cool, cool. Hope I don't die of a heart attack between now and and whenever I can get a echocardiogram. If I have more chest pain I'll be going somewhere else after this experience.

Jekle and Hyde experience. Intake staff and triage nurse was horrendous. We were lied to and dismissed for 4 hours. Didn't feel great while in a vulnerable position. Once we got a room, the care was great. Nursing staff and MD were attentive and quick to provide relief. 1 star for front desk and 5 stars for Care Team.

I would avoid the ER here unless it’s your literal only choice and life threatening. Only arrived here because the urgent care was closed. I arrived around 6pm, left around 2am the next day. Waited around 3 hours, to be seen by a doctor, another 3 hours for the orthopedic doctor, and then an hour to get discharged because they didn’t talk and the doctor didn’t know the specialist had finished. If you come here, prepare to use the call button because that’s the only way they found out the specialist was done and I was ready for discharge, also the only way I got my paperwork was by constantly pressing the button to ask. The doctors and nurses themselves were nice enough but the duration was atrocious, and it wasn’t a busy night according to staff. Can’t imagine I would have been out of here in under 12 hours if it was busy.

Double charged for an ER visit, was told one price, but wasn’t told about the other bit. My insurance charged me for the ER visit, UW came and changed me for a separate physicians bill out of the blue for 663! They left me with an IV in my arm for almost 2 hours, no water or anything. No one came to see me, and they didn’t even figure out what was wrong. If you have an emergency, take the extra time to go somewhere else, they just want your money.

This my second time leaving the ER without being treated. The staff here are extremely unprofessional. Nurses are completely uneducated and unmannered, to top it all off they are extremely prejudice. I would give them 0 out 5 if I could. Please avoid this place like the plague.

Worst Emergency in the state. Long wait times, and sub-par help. If you want adequate help you really have to advocate for yourself. You can tell everyone is overworked, and they are short staffed. Approximately 7/10 of the time I’ve had to come here regardless of the day I’ve stayed here at minimum 4 hours. Last two visits I was here for over 10 hours when I was told to come in by my PCP for one thing, and they did everything but the one thing I was here sent here for. And watching people with the same concerns as you but come in later get seen first is very confusing and frustrating. I would highly recommend any emergency room over this one. Swedish is not too far from here and would be a possible alternative to this place.

To whom it may concern, My name is E***** My Medical records number is U5234268. Yesterday at the Main OR Recovery 2 south east 28 after surgery, i was assigned a Nurse by the name Stephanie. I was on Blood transfusion IV, i complained about the pain just below the iv and i requested them to slow down the flow and she yelled on me, the other one i didn't get her name slowed and left under Stephanie now. I continued with my IV but after sometimes the pain came back and i requested we do another IV but she started yelling on me i quote " am not starting another IV" she completely ignored my pain, so rude and mean, at one point i told her you know you're not supposed to argue with me, she said i can argue with patients i told her not me and am going to kick you out of my room, she said i can go i don't have to stay here. Then she got up and grabbed the IV kit like she want to start another IV then she turn around start telling me am a hard poke yes am a hard poke but she lied that the first nurse who did my iv used the ultrasound. Am black and immigrants but not stupid, i know my body and ignoring my pain that being ignorant and being negligence. On top of it she walked outside the hallway and started talking about me with other nurses and i could hear her, walking up and down looking at me like someone who can harm me i got scared. Please address the matter Have also spoke with My doctor about it.

Worst ever hospital!! Went there at 11am for emergency and still had to wait two hours for ibuprofen!! For real? Left the hospital at 10pm because we can't wait any longer for the ibuprofen. One hour wait was enough for god sake!!! Omg 😳 and the parking is 4bucks for an hour!!! 11am to 10pm service at this hospital!! Wow crazy.!

My brothers been waiting two hours and he’s keeled over in pain crying and can’t breathe and they’re letting non emergency people go in before him that aren’t even in distress. He ended up going home to order an ambulance to get in faster and ended up on oxegyn. Horrible horrible service!!! And the guy at the front desk was rude and uncaring. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!

My partner and I have been waiting in the ER for 5 hours now. My partners been in excruciating pain and crying for the last hour. They’ve called people back that were here after us, and really don’t seem to care at all. The security guard with the receding hairline ponytail is also on a power trip and doesn’t know how to interact with people well. He just likes to jump in when he sees you doing something he doesn’t like. The ER sucks enough why do you have to add to the dread?

This hospital is amazing, I've been going there for over 20yrs& they really took care of my husband. I don't know about everyone else but they literally saved my husband. Harbor view hospital sucks, they didn't give my husband any fluids( even though he was dehydrated)or even really check him out cause if they did they would of found out my husband had a infection going through his body. Thank God for us having faith and for this hospital and all the doctors & nurses. You guys are amazing , thank you so much and please keep up the good work even when your not appreciated it, cause people like me do appreciate you guys more than you know. Thank you😊

I had a really great experience at this ER. I had an emergency situation and from the moment I came in I felt heard and was seen promptly. Everyone I saw- from the front desk personnel to each nurse, technician, and doctor were very kind. I appreciate the timely care this ER gave me. The bill afterwards was quite expensive (with insurance) but that’s more of a testament to our medical system rather than this hospital. Thank you UW ER!

The entire ER,OR, and PACU team were absolutely amazing for my emergent surgery when I was all alone in a state that I don’t live in. Dr.Lucas and her resident even held my hand and wiped my tears as I cried being put under anesthesia. My pain and nausea were taken seriously and I was up moving around so quickly after surgery. Very grateful for the care I received

I went in to the ER in 2016, admitting myself for depression and thoughts of self harm/suicide. I was given a muscle stress test, then had a psychiatric doctor "evaluate" me by asking if I had a suicide note/plan to harm myself. When I told her that I was trying to avoid those thoughts and get help, she told me "if you don't have a plan or a note, we can't help you." I was then told to leave the hospital, and received a $3000 bill for the "help" I received.

I work security across the street our bathrooms at our station were out of service. Typically I could take a train to another station however it is Sunday so the trains don't start running until 05:45 the time was about 04:30. I asked to used the bathroom. I have before as a patient but it's never been a problem asking a hospital to use the bathroom the security officer said no extremely rudely. Told me they didn't have a public bathroom and looked at me as if I was on drugs! I am not allowed to leave my station! For this was the only place opened for the bathroom and turned me away for something as simple as this. ....

Every single person that I dealt with today, from the front desk staff to the doctor who released me, treated me with kindness and respect. This is in spite of the fact that these folks are clearly understaffed. Wait times were long (although this may have been because I was doing much better than many of the other patients), but every single person that helped me apologized for the wait, focused on my case without rushing, and treated me like a (scared) human being. This wasn't the strained attempt at friendliness that you often get from harried, overworked people; it was clearly the product of true professionalism and genuine decency, maintained even under stress. I overheard one young man asking his colleague what the weather outside was like-- he hadn't left the hospital in two days. I hope I don't need to make another ER visit, but if I do this is definitely the one I would choose-- these people clearly care about the work they are doing.

I came here for a Crohn’s flare up on a Saturday evening around 7pm. There was zero wait. Immediately seen and given a room where they immediately attended to my needs and set wheels in motion to get me admitted. I was admitted for a few nights and I was so scared since I’d never been hospitalized overnight before but it was an absolute breeze. Every nurse was so kind. Every doctor was so nice and I think they took me even more seriously than I even took myself which was very nice to be taken care of that way. Yes you have to explain yourself to every new doctor you see, that’s just part of going to any hospital. The doctors want to hear your symptoms directly from your perspective, not the perspective of the last nurse who triaged you. The hospital rooms were quiet, and I had my own room (not sure if typical or not). I will absolutely make the journey to come to UW for any emergency needs. They have everything you could possibly need in one spot. Great care. Also, the food wasn’t half bad! Grass fed beef? Amazing.

went in with extreme ear pain. took 8 people to tell me ‘well it doesn’t look red’ and ‘take Tylenol’ do yourself a favor and go to a real hospital. my grandmother could’ve given me that information; and for a lot cheaper.

I barely walked myself into the ER with a mysterious infection that turned septic. I am so thankful for the doctors, nurses and techs that helped me that day. Everyone was so kind and respectful and kept me informed of what tests they needed to run and why. I felt like I was in good hands throughout my entire visit. Thank you for taking care of me!

Saved my daughter’s life. She needs another surgery to remove her kidney remnants that are left over from a motorcycle accident. Providence in Olympia ignored the fact she had a severed artery in her kidney and sent her home. The kidney slowly died while she was in Providence and they ignored her complaints of pain. She was saved by staff at UW after Providence sent her home with this issue and then when she managed to get to Providence urgent care because of the severe pain 4 days after being home, Providence sent the ambulance drivers to wrong hospital location for her to get help in Seattle! UW saved her life. Providence tried to kill her!

There are only 15 chairs in a cramped room at the UW Emergency room. Circulation is poor, lighting is dim and it is a depressing room where disease could spread easily due to the small room and close sitting chairs. I also noticed poor enforcement of mask wearing. I am very disapointed so far.

Trying to go to the emergency room because of a concussion after auto accident, this place is charging $35 for football game parking and apparently it is full. Couldn’t walk for too long parking at their only other garage so I had to go to another hospital.

I had a rare advanced stage 4 oral cancer and due to the doctors and all the staff at UWMC I am in remission. The nurses were more than caring, they listened to my concerns and the providers took action. Best care ever.,
