I had a pleasant first time experience at South Bay gold in Torrance. I had some gold and silver to sell and they offered me a fair price. The staff is friendly and accommodating , I will take my business back there again.

Fair prices for gold. Massive lowballers for diamonds. Don't trust these guys as diamond dealers. After 45 minutes of this-and-that, they offered me $2700 for a 2.5-carat natural stone based on "auction value" at some website they *really* wanted me to see (but I declined). They didn't argue with my independent appraisal for quality, etc.; they just said that it wasn't worth much on the wholesale market. I didn't argue (no point to grapple with shysters), and I just went to other places. The same day, I received multiple offers in the $7-8k range from other buyers, including from primarily loan-oriented places like the Goldman Diamond Exchange (a/k/a Gardens Gold & Loan) who were quick and reasonable. Ultimately, while it was a little more of a hassle, I found a third-party buyer through the American Coin Exchange in Huntington Beach (which took a finder's fee for it on top of my take) for nearly $10k.

I had a great experience with this place and was totally surprised by how much cash they gave for my gold scraps. Most places you can count on them taking about %40 to %50 off the top but this place only took %20 which is great. They were fast, honest, and true to their word. In the future I would not go anywhere else. They are the Best!!!

DO NOT SELL YOUR DIAMONDS HERE!! Diamond SCAM -tried to give me $1,800 for an 8ct diamond w/ 14k gold tennis bracelet, tested my bracelet the results came out to be “Moissanite” he attempted to test the meter with the employees diamond jewelry which they claim were “REAL” but the meter said otherwiseee! They tried to convince me my diamonds were actually faked and attempted to undersell me. Gold and silver on the other hand decent place to trade with.

I've bought gold coins here and as a new buyer I found the staff friendly and knowledgable. Recently when a very old Rolex I had needed repair I decided to give them a try and I have to say they did a beautiful job, at a fair price. It's a 1963 Rolex that now looks and works like new. South Bay Gold gets excellent reviews from me...definitely an A+ I have been purchasing precious metals for years around the globe and this has got to be the most efficient, knowledgeable, and honest group I have ever come across. My first visit there confirmed they are a stellar company to do business with. Sam and Juan were exceptional and provided excellent customer service. My time in the area was very limited yet I could have spent hours in there with the beautiful showcases of quality jewelry. We were recommended to South Bay Gold by a relative of the owner. We purchased our wedding bands, an engagement ring, diamond earrings and a diamond ring. All custom made, all nearly flawless diamonds and they were BREATHTAKING. We had an amazing experience with Sam from start to finish. Fast forward a few years later, I had an issue with my wedding band and couldn't reach Sam. I stopped by Finley's and ended up dealing with one of his employees which wasn't a great experience. The individual who recommended us to SBG asked how my ring (repair) had turned out and he was rather upset that the employee of Sam's charged me to fix it. Now, almost 13 years later, I am looking to sell all my pieces. (I am now across the country) I have called, emailed, messaged, sent smoke signals, etc. to no avail. I've left messages with "Paul" who has no knowledge of the industry and was extremely rude and said "the boss is really busy, he doesn't have time for you". All I was inquiring about was if they still had paperwork (receipts/value) from that far back. Sam had also sent out my engagement ring (stone) to GIA for a grading report. Jewelers around here cannot find the laser inscription on the stone and I do not physically have the grading report so I was hoping (the number) was somehow in their system so that I could access the report via the GIA website. But nothing. It's a shame to see a business that had such promise and is noted for creating such beautiful custom pieces diminish due to employing the wrong individuals.
