This is a classic pub that we hangout with friends on a Friday night. The dart is great to enjoy. Most of the time, the place is very crowded and you might need to wait in the line. But like any great place, this is normal and it is worth waiting a bit to get our drinks. It is location wise very close to the other pubs and clubs so you can have your first drinks here then jump somewhere near. Happy to know this amazing pub💯

I love this place, to have a good time and have a good light or dark draft beer, the food of the highest quality. If you are in Palo Alto you should take a walk around this place you will love it.

A real bar or even a pub. Darts, great beer selection, well-made cocktails, no BS service. Very local feel with a mix of techs, profs, dates, and more.

It is an interesting place for a very specific demographic; Stanford community. Otherwise, it is a great "locals" type of bar with expected food and a good selection of beer on tap. I will note, the pub burger was a hand pressed patty, which was a very happy surprise. A little something extra and artisan like feature that I enjoyed.

This place is a gem! It's a great dive bar perfect for socializing, playing dart games, and hosting startup meetups. A fun spot to hang out with friends. The best part? It lives up to its name by offering a fantastic selection of beverages, from beer to whisky. Cheers to a good time! 🍻 .

This place has been here forever. I visited here 30 years ago and it’s still going strong. Nice selection of beers. Too bad some of it is only sold by the pitcher and not by an individual glass.

A wonderful English replica pub/dive bar/local corner bar. Think The Duke & Castle meets Cheers meets Dive 54. Good beer selection. Pretty good whiskey/whisky offerings (quality over quantity), and a local crowd. Plus darts, sports on TV, pub decor, and wear and tear of your favorite local watering hole.

Great selection of beers, great atmosphere, and space to chat, hangout, and play darts.

Great beer selection, the samosa bites are a solid appetizer, and high-quality trivia on Tuesday. Get there EARLY, we regularly arrived at 7:30PM for 8PM trivia and would get the last table. Questions are a mix of hard and accessible, and good norms established when the host reads the questions (e.g. people quiet down so everyone can actually hear).

It’s a nice English pub with good selection of beers and has that low light pub vibe if you sit inside and their outside seating is good too!

Overall I liked it. Service was quite slow but the food was pretty good. Nice atmosphere, music maybe too loud but cool songs. Among the food ordered, I asked for deviled eggs and instead of the classic recipe I got one with a lot of cilantro inside... I said I could not eat it and the waitress took it away and never came back. Not sure what is the policy there, but I ended up paying for extra deviled eggs. Watch out if you return something 😅

$10 Palomas made with fresh squeezed 2-liter Squirt and Michelin-star trained chef.... ? (Check out the video, their chef is actually next level) While that may not sound like a good plan, the R&C never fails to be the perfect pregame to a night out in PA. Darts are always a hoot, the atmosphere is warm and lively over your inside, and the vibe is a refreshing change of pace from the nearby bars.

Stopped by three times during my week stay in Palo Alto. Chill, laid-back bar with Pliny on tap. Why try anywhere else when you found something right up your alley? Will be back next time my travels bring me to Stanford. Didn’t have food but looks surprisingly good.

Good place to get a beer, definitely Irish pub- chill hangout bar vibe. They usually have a good selection like the Russian river mind circus, delicious!

Solid section of beers and friendly vibes. They do trivia on Tuesdays, but it could get a little too crammed and chaotic.

This place is a gem in the middle of Palo Alto. Darian is a dream Bartender. We loved him.

The Rose & Crown has a feel of a true English bar. I came with a couple of friends on Friday night and had a lot of fun. The place is on the smaller side, but when I was there it was not too crowded. They also have a fairly good selection of beers / food. I will definitely be coming back.

Dark hole in the wall pub. Usually some locals during the day, full of techies in the evening. Always some good craft selection on tap.

Classic Palo Alto bar with a diverse clientele and excellent beers on tap. Expect to meet interesting strangers here.

Been here a few times, good beers and overall all good pub feels. They can improve with their service and overall cleanliness, if you go just around closing hours- there is a massive reluctance to serve. Taking the laid back pub feels too far :)

One huge problem. Everything we wanted to order from website they do not serve anymore. These items were a staple for years and made it a great beer and food pub. NO MORE WELSH RABBIT, NO BANGERS OR MASH. NO IRISH BEERS plus other items. I consider it false advertising to get people in and then not serve them. I had fish and chips and honestly they were not as good as previously. If you wsnt authentic English pub food. Try another place I am sorry to say. I spent many years here, so where to go!

Nice little hole in the wall bar with ample outside seating. They have a front patio and side alleyway seating. Inside they have bar and regular table seating. I saw dart boards inside. Good selection of beer and bar food. I recommend the Tikka masala fries. Not what I expected but good nonetheless.

GenX&Z dive'ish bar really. But hey, could we dim the lights please, it's so bright and do i really want to see people late night? No. The water tub is good for free refills and hydration for us Gen Xers. Thanks.

FOOD & BEER: we had the Hen House IPA and it was great. Also had the garkic and cheese fries as an appetizer. The fries could have been a tad crispier to keep from getting soggy from the cheese...BUT they were still really good. SERVICE: the bar tender (also waiter) was very nice. Great welcoming personality. ATMOSPHERE: Interesting atmosphere. Not much to it. The interior is pub like with dark brown and wood accents. The exterior dining area is narrow. There is also a section to eat right next to the parking lot. This was a very busy place. Many folks seem3d to be regulars

If you sit at the counter you can notice that the customers are really confused by the lack of a written menu (the digital one apparently is not updated), the method of payment and some shady customers. Also the security staff is incredibly creepy: no uniform, sunglasses, old and dirty clothes. Apart from all of these, I guess the beer is good.

Customer service doesn't exist. We were a team of 10 and had to rearrange tables to fit us all. Their response was so rude that they made sure to ruin our evening. Obviously we have not seen their sign board. Its an after work professional outing and we are extremely dissatisfied to have chosen this place. Patio rocks.

Pliny on draft! Great little venue. We stopped after dinner as our restaurant closed at 9.

It’s a very divey place in downtown Palo Alto; very chill. I’m glad it’s open among the other fancy places around there. They have indoor as well as patio seating. The food takes a little while come out but it’s still damn chill.

  • 4/5 Kazuhiro T. 1 year ago on Google
One of popular options to rotate for Friday nights! Good set of craft beers on draft, reasonably priced snack options, it's one of great options of casual local bars.

  • 4/5 Wilfred C. 9 months ago on Google
They have AC (air conditioning). Fish and chips (Cod) is pretty good taste and value.

  • 5/5 Brian S. 8 months ago on Google
My kind of dive bar. Great beer selection. Couldn't read the labels but the bar tender picked a great beer when I asked him for whatever IPA they had on tap... where does the food come from? Good eats!

Quirky euro feel. Friendly service. They know how to mix an adult beverage. Some outside seating is available.

The last good bar in the area as a beacon of vibrant nightlife. Its welcoming ambiance, top-notch service, and diverse drink selection make it a local gem. Amidst the dwindling options, this establishment remains the epitome of a great bar, ensuring memorable evenings for patrons seeking a spirited atmosphere.

My most favorite bar in Palo Alto! I love the general feel of the place, from the soccer scarves on the ceiling to the outdoor seating where you could bring a dog. The beer menu and pricing is competitive for downtown Palo Alto too.

Fantastic little bar with an off the beaten track / dive feel. The beer selection was terrific if you’re looking for craft beers and variety from AB-InBev. Food selection is a mix of American and British pub bites and plates. You can play darts inside if you love throwing sharp objects. There’s an outside alleyway with tables and open space if you want to feel the sun. Friendly staff and super quick service. Would recommend!

Charming little hole in the wall English pub in downtown Palo Alto. Buckets of character, and most importantly, it doesn’t have TVs for wallpaper.

Good sandwiches, but my drink had a taste like chlorine, even after I changed it, so I didn't drank it I won't come back

Great beer selection with good barkeeps. There is only wine and beer available and the wine selection is not vast. LOL There are darts to be played, TV's to be watched, but mostly suds to be quaffed and college age folks to observe. It's loud and fun. Keep your head on a swivel so you avoid the inevitable beer spill! ? The bathroom line can get long so be prepared. Overall it is a fun place and worth a visit to this pub.

Great hangout. Lots of beer a on tap. I wanted to drink Bear Republic brew to celebrate Cal's Big Game victory, but once they ran out, they had a substitute and I couldn't tell the difference. McFly?
