I asked for a senior stylist upon making appointment. My request was not fulfilled. I myself have been a Cosmetologist for 30 years and I could tell that this gal was fresh out of beauty school. It took approximately 5hrs for a foil and cut and over $300. The outcome was horrendous, I had to wear a hat for 2 weeks until I could get in somewhere else. I asked for a refund and was denied. Only offered me to come back in and have it redone. Why would anyone want to chance getting back in one of their chairs again??? Manager was rude with absolutely no customer service skills!

Fun and relaxing environment. My boyfriend recommended the place to me and it's definitely going to be my new regular place (I've recently moved). My stylist was so nice and talented. There's also a very sweet dog that welcomes you the instant you walk in. 12/10

First time visiting Bishops in University Place and it was great! Booking online was simple and straightforward. They called a couple hours before my appointment to do a quick color consult as I hadn't been there before. The appointment was with Taylor who was really kind and listened to what I wanted with my all-over color. She showed me some swatches and she recommended the color that would be closest to what I wanted. The process can always be overwhelming, so it was nice that she was so transparent in the options. I'm thankful I found Bishops and will absolutely be returning! Also - their product prices are super reasonable which is often rare in salons! <3

My hairstylist Amanda was absolutely amazing! I got exactly what I asked for, easily the best haircut I have ever had. Parking is always available, with a parking garage nearby, the store itself is always very clean and the staff is always friendly and professional. 10/10

Today was my first time going here and I will definitely be coming back! The vibe was so laid back compared to other places I’ve been to get my hair cut. Meagan is amazing and takes her time with my hair, plus she makes the whole experience of getting my hair cut fun. I will definitely be back and will request Meagan!

Technically I want to give 6 out of 5 stars because I was greeting at the door by Joey, the sweets golden retriever. The people staff greeted me nicely as well. My actual haircut was great too. Oh and the music played in the background was excellent too.

Ezra was absolutely fabulous. They walked me through the whole process, synthesizing my different style ideas into one cohesive design that I am absolutely in LOVE with. Execution was excellent, just what I envisioned! Will be back to get touch ups or another transformative cut in the future.

I had my hair cut with layers by Ezra a while ago and forgot to leave a review and it was an amazing experience. Now, Meagan has bleached and dyed some of my hair for red lowlights and highlights, and I'll be returning soon for my next appointment to further my hair plans in a few weeks. Everything about Bishops is amazing! The atmosphere, the stylists, the music, the vibe in here is just nothing like any other salon. Gwendolen cut my hair today and the end result was executed perfectly! Not only did we have an excellent connection, but I have never been so happy with a hair cut! I will be a forever customer 💙

My son is glad with a haircut. It is usually really hard to make him happy with it. Overall looks like a decent place to take care of your hair

This was the first time I have been to Bishops for a haircut. Amanda made me feel at ease as she listened to me, and asked clarifying questions as to the way I wanted my hair to look. Amanda explained what and how much she was going to cut. When she completed the cut, she asked if I wanted the hair shorter or was it what I wanted. I asked for about a half inch more cut from the bangs and top. She cut the extra I asked. Then checked for my approval again. She showed me the front and back of my hair. It was perfect! I will definitely be a return customer! I appreciated her listening to me and the time she took to make the haircut exactly what I was looking for today.

The new stylist, Annie was able to get me in the same hour I called. She was very personable, honest and experienced. I can be particular with my haircut, but I felt heard and she gave me her honest recommendations which sometimes is needed when you are trying something new or are unsure. The location has some parking difficulties but it is in a nice area and the site has been pretty clean. I appreciate the conversation we had and I hope she continues to grow her clientele and share her talents with the community of University Place. Thanks Annie.

This was my first time at Bishop’s in Tacoma and I will absolutely be back! I was a little nervous when booking the appointment not being able to choose my stylist (this could totally be user error), but Pyrah did an outstanding job. I have very fine, color treated hair and Pyrah added the perfect amount of texture, removed bulk in the right spots, and used a styling product that I feel confident will be easy to use at home and not make my hair feel weighed down. The inside of Bishop’s University Place was very welcoming and I felt like I would be able to get the weird, fun, queer, affirming haircut that I was looking for. I also appreciated that the location of this salon has ample free parking! TL;DR this location is wonderful, Pyrah is great, and my hair is exactly what I wanted.

Totally worth the 35min drive (no traffic)! Took a chance and trusted Google reviews and they were right! I had Mel do my hair cut, color and a dash of highlights, she got the color 95% exact to what I was looking for on the first shot (first time ever touching my hair) and my hair is super tricky to color, but she did an AMAZING job! The cut is fantastic! She kept checking in with me at each part to make sure it was just how I wanted and I didn't feel weird having her go back over it in a couple places. Felt super comfortable and will for SURE be back!!!!!

Taylor did a great job on my tween daughter’s hair. Love the fresh cut! She got a chin length bob style, and Taylor added in some texture to thin out her thick hair, and make it easier to brush out and care for. We’re both happy with the result!

My experience at Bishops was amazing! I went first for a short hair consultation before booking my full appointment. It's not required but I wanted to check them out first. First impressions were great. When I came back for my actual appointment, I was so warmly welcomed and had an amazing time from getting the perfect haircut to having the color matched exactly to what purple I wanted in my hair to even getting the saturation spot-on on my balayage treatment. Definitely coming back!

Love the idea of this place. Great atmosphere inside with cool art. If you’re used to, (and really like) the super long hair appointments in done up salons, this probably isn’t your place. If you’re looking for something new with less frills? Absolutely. Unfortunately some miscommunication must have happened between and my stylist and me, as my hair is about 2-3 inches shorter than I requested. Not sure if they just over did it going after dead ends or hair they thought would be healthier shorter but I’m not a “hair is hair, it’ll grow back” person (which I told my stylist) so this has been pretty devastating to me - especially because I need to be able to put my hair up quickly for work and can no longer do so. I like that there’s a 7 day guarantee, but not sure how a stylist can give you back hair length that they’ve cut off. Bishops is definitely worth the try, just don’t feel pressured by how quickly they do things if you’re used to the opposite.

I started going to bishops a few years ago and the first person I went was geart but unfortunately we were not a good fit for one another. But recently I started going to Ezra and oh my goodness they are amazing! I always leave feeling better than I did coming into the shop. If you want a good cut with someone that listens and takes their time definitely go to them.

I have been on the hunt for a new hairdresser so I tried out Bishops for the first time today. I saw Ezra who was amazing and gave me exactly the cut I was looking for! Everyone there is really kind and friendly which made the whole experience that much better. Could not recommend this place enough!
