*warning* SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! It took me months to cancel my membership. First when I called, I was told I have to come in physically to cancel and there’s no other way. Then when I told them that I do not live in west seattle anymore, they told me that I could mail a letter in. After I mailed a letter in, they still kept charging me!!! Then I called in and found out I have to email someone named Chauna Brooks. I did this, and they STILL kept charging me. Finally I got in touch with another person, I emailed him and was told to write a signed letter to cancel. Perhaps my email went into their junk mail, but after 3 months of charges … I finally was able to cancel. This is a total trap and in 2022 where we can cancel most things with the click of a button .. I found the experience to be awful. *beware of this gym* … I found these practices to be dishonest and greedy on their part, and I will be reporting them to the BBB and letting people on social media know, I might even write to the local news about it, because I think it’s wrong!

Reasonable prices. They have discounts for local company employees. Only 3-4 squat racks but they recently emailed about adding more. There’s always equipment that needs repair but they communicate pretty well. Huge space, friendly staff.

BEWARE! Highly unethical business practices as it relates to their contract and fees. Chauna, the GM, will charge you an additional month on top of your last month regardless of your thirty day notice. She will also charge you an additional building maintenance fee due in November, even if you've only been there a month in the summer. She doesn't backup explanations from her front line staff, and is quick to throw them under the bus and hang-up on you. She is extremely unprofessional and unfit to handle customer relations.

Beware of the contract. We were lead to believe one thing when we signed contract but when in reality it was not true. But since we signed we are stuck with paying for year membership. Sad because I liked the floor staff, it is well equipped, and regular maintenance done. They just did the old bait and switch.

I visited. It seems like a nice gym and so close to my house we could walk there. Unfortunately for myself and my 16 year old daughter to join it's $381 after you include first last and deposit then the monthly is due the very next month. WHY would you require that?! This isn't like I'm renting an apartment where I would bring an animal or have a party where things could be destroyed. It's absurd. At the VERY MINIMUM drop the "commitment fee" for my child. Just wow. I'm sure they do this for their "target consumer "

Front desk staff was rude to me and one lady said "We know" when I said its my last day helping out there, as I was filling in at the juice bar they had there for a year and was working along side the front desk crew for a week or two. I had a great time while working there and was generous with samples, but each time I needed to use the front desk phone to order more supplies from the other juice bar's delivery run, they would give me an attitude and I didn't get cell phone reception in the lobby there. I found my experience working there to be very dissapointing in the end, as I was so nice to them and to then just be told they were happy I was leaving was very devistating. I was in dismay and still am four years later. I hope the staff doesn't still treat fellow coworkers less than human. The rest of the team was great, just one really mean girl at the front desk and it rubbed off on the others she worked with at the front desk it seemed.

I appreciate how welcoming the staff and members are. The front desk speaks with members more than just the "how do you do" and "have a nice day." Zumba class people are smiling and getting involved. And the machines are well maintained. Only star off is for the lack of towels to wipe machines clean (I feel bad using 5 paper towels instead of a reusable towel to sanitize)

I really enjoyed being a member of this gym when I lived in West Seattle. They implemented a work out app that provided a calendar and the ability to set up exercise plans to reach goals. It was very impressive and the hard work they put into it was apparent. Gym management was very kind and thoughtful when I ended my membership, inquiring into my perspective on how things went for me there. Criticisms I have are that late evenings, staff sometimes didn't keep up on towels, and the bucket under the swimsuit spinner overflowed all the time. Other than that, it was a worthwhile, positive experience. I achieved great results with my regimen and credit it to the app which provided a visual monthly representation of attendance, which instilled a feeling of accomplishment. Jason was my assigned trainer through the app and he gave his insightful perspective on self-image and attitude which, upon reflection, remains a valuable contribution to my life even now. I faltered due to some bad decisions, but he was there to dispel shame and promote resilience. I hope it's still up and running and if you're a member, consider subscribing to the app. Hopefully the fee is reasonable though. Thanks for the memories that reinforce a healthful, life-long habit.

This is a great gym, especially if you want to swim. I can really only speak to the pool area, but I was a member for 2+ years and swam laps two to three times a week. The lockers were clean, the pool area was clean, the hot tub and saunas were well taken care of. Like any gym, it can get busy depending on when you go. I mostly went on the cusp of peak hours and I never had trouble finding a lane or sharing with someone if needed. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I joined during the back half of COVID as restrictions were being lifted. I always felt like they took them seriously and put everyone health and safety first. I'm moving out of state and cancelling was straightforward. I thoroughly enjoyed being a member and highly recommend checking it out!

Great gym! They have a little bit of everything and everyone is friendly. Only downsides are they only have three squat racks which are the most used area whereas other equipment often sits unused, and their gym radio plays too much Taylor Swift so if you forget headphones, your workout is going to be a little rough. But still a great gym!

Our entire family loves this gym. There are always people cleaning and it feels very pleasant to be there. The space is huge and bright, which is very uplifting and motivating for me. There’s always towels available. The front desk and smoothie bar staff are all so sweet and welcoming. There are a ton of amenities, like a rock wall, steam room, pool, multiple fitness rooms, classes and specialty services, and awesome kids area. My three year old loves the staff in the kids’ care center- seriously the nicest people. She also loves taking dance classes (extra cost). Nice people there as members, too. Overall, just a cool community and positive place to be a part of. It’s fun for all of us to go!

A great community gym with a huge facility, tons of equipment and machines, and friendly staff. Can't wait to explore the pool too once the weather gets warmer! A much better experience than the typical big box/franchise gyms.

Haven’t been a fan. The gym is like a thousand degrees so you are sweating before you even work out. The ‘mindfulness’ studio with yoga classes is under the weight lifters- so loud and distracting and actually thought the speaker above me was going to fall on me. The yoga instructor was a joke. The women’s workout room is windowless and dreary. The women’s locker room has no ceiling and you Can see dust and god knows what else growing in there. Their contract is poorly written so they can do whatever they want. We are giving our 30 day notice in Jan to end a month to month contract and have to essentially pay until end of April. You also pay a gym upgrade fee, which in theory sounds good, but they invest it in the gyms ‘premier’ facilities that you have to upgrade your contract to even use. They nickel and dime you for everything, even towels aren’t included, in a health club! Poor management. Even talking to staff or asking questions you feel their defensiveness as they direct you to the GM to argue with. Shame, could be such a great place if managed properly.

I’ve been attending over a year and I can say confidently that this gym is excellent - and I say this as someone who came from working out at a lot more “glamorous” gyms in my former state. It is always spotlessly clean! It’s also HUGE - there are several levels with different weight rooms, stretch rooms, tons of classes and a large weight section. I very rarely, if ever, have to wait in equipment. The staff is friendly, usually very consistent and I don’t see a lot of high turnover. Always have a lot of towel drops, garbage cans and cleaning supplies handy. The culture of the gym is also great. It’s a really wide mix of all kinds of people. I’ve seen extremely athletic veterans who attend the gym like their temple work alongside brand new folks, elderly, or people like me getting back into it after life took priority. It’s the perfect balance of not feeling like a meat market but also feels like a serious gym. They have a ton of family classes and swimming lessons which is great for those with kids, but they are in a separate part of the gym so they don’t overlap or bother adults like me who aren’t child friendly. They have a great kids club that I’m told is very reasonable - again, win win for the parents and the childfree. The locker rooms are super spacious and I feel very safe here as a woman. I feel like a lot of the criticism this gym gets for being a bit outdated and having older equipment is harsh. In just a year I’ve seen them make MASSIVE improvements and they are about to get an influx of all new equipment as well. I don’t think people understand how brutal the pandemic was on gyms and how expensive it is to order entire floors worth of equipment. Bottom line is that I feel like the owners and the management really cares and they are making huge strides to make this gym even better. I’m excited to see what comes up and I’m grateful we have this place in Seattle! I’ll post some photos of the new stuff once it comes in.

See the reviews about problems cancelling. It’s all true, they will continue to charge you and not take responsibility. Chauna is mentioned multiple times for making peoples lives difficult and preventing cancellations.

I was really excited for this place when we first move to the neighborhood about a year ago and really wanted to like it. Unfortunately, after a year going here I can say it didn't live up to the expectation. All the gym equipment is very old and falling apart. The price ok, the classes quality if sub-par. I was ok with all the bad part for the most part until now across the road is a strips of broken RVs and sketchy people living across the streets. On a brighter note the front desk people is nice, it is spacious with lots of equipment, and always empty.

I really enjoy this gym but unfortunately have noticed inconsistencies with them being open on time. I showed up at 5:40am on a Monday morning and the gym hadn’t opened yet. I’ve asked about kids being in the hot tub which has clear signs saying they should not be in there and I’ve seen swim instructors trying to stop them but when I asked the front desk they responded with a shrug and said they’d watch the cameras. It’s disappointing they can’t enforce basic rules and keep posted hours.

I can share my emails back and forth with the owner, but beware of this club. They are not upfront at all with fees, but the owner will reply " I assumed you read your contract" which basically rips you off especially for a month to month temporary gym that you are trying to join. I am assuming they will also try and bill me even though I cancelled by contract for another month. See another persons review below. Go to LA fitness or 24 if you are in West Seattle. This place is highly unethical and the owners do not care about Customer service at all.

I had a WONDERFUL experience at this gym until it was time to cancel. It always seems like this is the case with gyms, isn't it? I canceled back in May/June because of the COVID crisis and because I was moving. I went in, spoke to someone about it, and signed. I was not given a physical copy of my cancellation confirmation nor was I e-mailed a confirmation. I was not told i would be e-mailed, either. Fast forward to September 1st. What do you know, there's a $59 charge on my card. I called the gym immediately and told them what was up, and the person I spoke to said there was a problem with memberships and that I should get in touch with Chauna (the GM). I reached out to Chauna who told me there was no record of my cancellation. I had to either mail a letter to the gym (to cancel again) or drive an hour and a half into West Seattle to do it in person. I drove there, canceled again, and was given a confirmation of my cancellation. I tried reaching out to Chauna afterwards to get refunded over the bogus charge and I've been ghosted over the past couple of days. Someone named Lisa reached out to me and told me I would not be refunded because there was no record of my prior cancellation. So they pretty much told me I was lying and that they're keeping my money. I don't know what the deal is with these people but gyms are so damn shady when it comes to canceling so I'm chalking it up to that. The staff was super friendly when I was a member and the facility itself was great. I'm really bummed because I enjoyed my time here and I liked supporting a local business over the bigger gyms. Take what you will out of this review. I had to call my bank and open a dispute because this gym refused to refund me.

We went here for one of my daughter's friends birthday party. We really enjoyed our time there and are now considering a membership. We did a little tour while we were there and were impressed with the amenities. It's also fairly affordable compared to other gyms. The rock wall looks like a lot of fun, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. The staff were really friendly and helpful too.

Feel Scammed with this club. Person had told me when I signed up that all I had to do was get rid of my towel service at the end of the year ( no recurring payments.). They shut down for 8 months and and with no notification they have charged me for a month at first and than raised the price on me to double my premium without warning. I am hoping this can be changed when I see them in person . This is very unfair during these times and not respectful towards its club members

This is a terrific club. The swimming facilities on the first floor are outstanding. The pool length is 25 yards and has wide lanes for easy sharing. The pool room has a wall of large outdoor windows and a nearby hot tub with jets. The shower and locker facilities are clean and well supplied. The second floor has rooms for yoga and dance classes that are quite popular. There is a separate room with about 20 bikes for spin classes. My only lament is the lack of early morning spin classes. On the third floor, there are two adjoining large weight rooms with free weights and a complete set of Nautilus and Cyber machines. There is a large adjacent room with exercise bikes, stair machines, treadmills and elliptical exercise machines. These rooms have large windows in three of the walls. The gym has great vibe. It is family friendly and supportive of the hard core gym rats and the newbies.

I was attracted to this gym initially for the large variety of group fitness classes and they are really great. They have large rooms so you never feel like everyone is on top of each other or your trying to fight for a spot. They also have a women's only weight room which I appreciate. The main room that has all the ellipticals, free weights, etc. Is very large so again, you never feel overcrowded or waiting for a machine. They have great variety of machines that are up to date. There is an indoor pool and sauna. Large, nice, and clean locker rooms. Overall there is alot to do here and it is all nice, clean, and well maintained. I'm glad we decided to join!

Has all the amenties you'd want in a gym, but one major problem: no towel service. This is especially troublesome in the summer where the AC isn't able to properly cool the building, and after doing one set I'm completely covered in sweat. Am I supposed to just grab the paper towels they leave out as the only option to wipe equipment/myself down with? Seems like it'd be more budget friendly to just buy towels and wash them than buying endless paper towels to be thrown out. EDIT: They’ve since added towel service! Hooray! Next up… a basketball court 😉

I’ve been a member for a few months now and the staff at the front is usually not very friendly sometimes I don’t even get greeted which is extremely awkward, but whoever was working at the front desk today around 6:45pm with tattoos and helped me with a rubber band deserves a 5 star. He was very kind and had great customer service. Would give a 5, but like I said sometimes I don’t even get greeted and this is a more pricey gym. Moving here from California I would expect a friendlier staff. Overall I enjoy the yoga classes and instructors and the gym is pretty nice.

Went here 3-4 times per week for about 3 months - lifting in the weight area on the third floor. 2 months in, I decided this gym was not for me and submitted my cancellation notice for the following reasons: - the third floor is regularly hot and humid. they only seemed to turn on the A/C in the afternoons when requested by the trainers that work out there. And no fans at all to move air around when the a/c is off (shout out to the super yoked trainer who always seemed to get the a/c turned on with a text or phone call) - the equipment is neglected. they clearly do not maintain the machines. many of the weight machines have ripped seats, rusting parts, broken pins, and squeaky belts. there are never signs on them indicating that they are broken either. - the building is dirty. it's carpeted so it smells bad and is hard to clean, the walls have noticeable damage, and people DO NOT wipe down their equipment after using it. - there is very little gym etiquette. people frequently occupy equipment for long periods of time while taking phone calls loudly, sitting on the floor, or looking at their phone. they don't rack their weights. with only 3 squat racks, this is extremely frustrating. funny enough, i've even seen the manager of the gym taking phone calls on her airpods while working out. even one of the trainers that works there only wears sandals in the weight area?? for the monthly cost AND an "annual enhancement fee" it doesn't seem like much of that money goes into ensuring a good experience for those working out there. the bare minimum isn't being met, so save your money if you want a clean and well-maintained place to lift in peace.

I’ve been going to the WSHC for over a year now, and it is hands down the best gym at the most affordable price. Three floors of swimming, climbing, classes, and equipment. Membership comes with unlimited fitness classes and they now have a premier fitness studio if you’re looking for a more boutique atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and helpful and the classes have gotten me in the best shape of my life. Can not recommend enough!

Love this place! I moved to West Seattle last year and this spot is a highlight for sure. Lots of equipment, super friendly and helpful staff. The pool, hot tub, and sauna are amazing! I find myself using the women’s only room a lot as well. My only complaints are that I wish they provided towels like every other gym I’ve attended (and not for an extra fee if they implement this change), and of course the RV/tent city surrounding the building. As a young woman I don’t always feel safe going there at night by myself due to the rather unpredictable characters that lurk around; their presence is not benign. When driving home one day, I almost had my car hit by an RV being driven by a woman who was clearly under the influence of substances. Though to be fair this whole situation is more a reflection of systemic issues and not the health club. Unfortunate though. With regard to the cancellation policy - I’ve seen many complaints but can’t personally speak to it as I haven’t needed to do so yet. Hopefully they will make their process more accommodating though as it does give me some worry. Still, the benefits far outweigh the negatives! Highly recommend going here.

Wonderful to have so many activities in one place: pool, climbing wall, space for kids. We attended a birthday party here (fun kid chaos) and do swimming lessons here on occasion. I’m deducting a star for: limited locker room facilities for swim lessons and mind-numbing tiny parking spaces. Our minivan is over the white line in both directions with sliding doors open. Message to management: you need to widen your parking spaces… please!

Clean, open spaces with tons of equipment for every need. Lots of variety when it comes to cardio equipment as well. The pool is big and they offer family swimming every weekend and on various evenings during the week. Also what comes along with your membership are fitness classes that happen at convenient times during the morning, afternoon and evening, along with showers, changing rooms + lockers, a climbing wall, and a cafe. I also get a discount for being a student and working for Providence. All the staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this gym to a friend or family member for sure.

Excellent zumba classes. Chely and team are always fired up. However I do not like looking at the outside when on the treadmill where people have unattractive rv's parked outside like tent city. Its nasty and trasy they should have them removed.

This gym is great! It’s huge, so it never feels too jammed, the staff is very nice and it has parking. Eli is one of the personal trainers there, and he is great. A membership comes with two free sessions and I’m so glad I lucked into him. I signed up for a series in anticipation of a golf trip! Love it.

Now is the best times to enjoy the club. Few people to contend with. Large open spaces plus a huge pool. Life is very good at the West Seattle Health Club.

    Very expensive

Nice place to workout in. But they force you into an expensive yearly contract. It's a luxury gym and only worth it if you commit yourself to going often

Took my son for swim lessons and now I am a member. Good hours. Club kept clean and I get a lot of use out of the weights along with pool and steam room.

I’m partial because I teach yoga here, but I’m also a very happy customer! It’s such a great environment and I never have to wait for equipment. It’s really spacious and clean. Two thumbs up!

Disappointed with lack of studio availability, pool/sauna always out of order, staff is unfriendly and not helpful, management was also unhelpful in finding a solution to my concerns. The Womens studio used to be a large room on the second floor and since then was moved to a tiny closet space. Overall very disappointed with my experience at the WSHC and will be bringing my business elsewhere.

I’m obsessed with how happy this place gets me. Zumba on Wed night is always fun

a fantastic gym, especially for the price. There is a women's only room, you can use some of the studio classes if they are empty, lots of classes included in the membership, and the pool is great and doesn't feel overly chlorinified. And PLENTY of exercise equiptment, and they have punching bags! Definitely recommend

I'm disappointed by the quality of customer service this gym has for their customers. I want to support a local business, but it's hard when they can't be professional and friendly. Since the Pandemic, I've not been in the gym. I've put my account on hold. Then when the Gov. Ige announced that it's safe to open gyms, they open but I was not notified about that until I saw that my account has been billed. Even after informing them that I am not coming into the gym in 2020. I asked for a refund, they said no. Now that I have moved out of the state, I emailed to cancel and they want a physical paper. I asked if I can cancel over the phone to avoid being billed again. Exact words from their VP of Operations, Dan, "No for obvious reason we need a paper trail. Just put a stamp on a letter if you don't want to come in." #1) which part of I am out of state that is not clear? #2) we live in 2021, what is this madness of writing a letter in to cancel? #3) I have already been billed for months that I did not come into the gym and they won't refund my fees. And this level of courtesy? Seriously?

Great place, well run establishment. However, I would like to see more towel racks, shelves, and hooks in the family changing rooms. There are no handles or anything in there.

Gym staff is nice, and the gym has everything I need. Just a lil pricey for old weights and broken machines. But otherwise I enjoy working out here especially since I went to WSH.

It's all about the pool, wet sauna, and the spacuzzi. I haven't even been to the weight room, but the aqua workouts are 🔥 The club also has a smaller room for the shy foxes.

Love the pool, sauna, hot tub combo and that it is still affordable with those amenities. Definitely helps me get through the winter months!

A great gym with friendly staff and excellent safety procedures during times of covid. Love this place! Almost docked one star because a few of the treadmills and bike machines have wobbly belts or janky seats and pedals. Easy fix though.

Joined when I moved to Seattle in 2015 and by far has the most equipment of any gym I’ve been to in Seattle. I had to take a break when the bridge closed, but I’m back even with the extra drive because of the people and facility! If you’re looking for a trainer, ask for Zach, he’s great!!

I have been going to this gym for over 10 years and though it has gone through some ups and downs and management changes bankruptcy Etc I love this gym. current manager/owner has taken wonderful steps in brightening and cleaning and freshening up the gym it's beautiful it's awesome and I am very pleased to be able to work out there. The people who work out there seem to all be very friendly and low key. I've worked with a personal trainer for a little over a year now and through the covid-19 open and closing mandates have been challenging but have had awesome experience. Communication has been fantastic with knowing what's going on with covid-19 and the opening and shutdown of the gym. Owners and staff have done an amazing job keeping us well-informed and working through it all during Covid.

Great gym. Lots of classes, beautiful fitness center, pool, and sauna. Only bummer is the caravan of sketchy RVs lined up around the outside. Keeps it interesting I guess.

Here are some observations as a member of the West Seattle Health Club: 1. Machines always out of service 2. Soap dispensers in locker rooms don’t work 3. Paper towel dispensers in locker rooms are jimmy rigged with a screw and never work 4. Rarely have towels available for members, always out of small or big towels 5. Entire club is run down, patchy paint on walls, old carpet and the locker rooms haven’t been updated in years A few of us have submitted internal feedback forms to help resolve some of these issues over the past few months but no action has been taken. Management, do better!

WSHC is the place where you can have an amazing staff. I love this place so much. So many dancing classes, steam room and Jacuzzi where you can relax. I love everything they offer, especially the swimming classes that they offer for kids with special needs. Parents can drop off their kiddos to the kids club while working out. Words are not enough to describe it. Please try and comon in.To see is to believe right.

Staff is pretty clueless. Customer service is almost nonexistent. Equipment is pretty trash as is the community there and they still have the audacity to charge as much as they do. Save your money and time and look around. There are plenty of better gyms in the area.

Moved out of state. Club unwilling to cancel membership remotely. Only interested in collecting additional payments. They are slimy. Do not use them.
