As a long-term patron of Colbert in Sloane Square, it is with great disappointment that I feel compelled to share my recent experience at this establishment. Over the past 9years, I have enjoyed the atmosphere, cuisine, and overall ambiance of Colbert. However, during my recent visit, I encountered a disheartening display of discriminatory behavior that marred an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I observed what appeared to be a consistent pattern of discriminatory seating practices. The individual responsible for seating guests seemed to exhibit biases in her decision-making. Several customers, including myself, were informed that there were no available tables and that we would have to wait for an extended period. However, my observation revealed that individuals without reservations were immediately accommodated. This stark contrast in treatment led me to question the fairness and equity of the restaurant's seating policies. Furthermore, as a concerned patron, I discreetly documented the seemingly available tables within the restaurant and the length of the queuing area. These images serve as concrete evidence of the discrepancy between the seating availability and the statements made by the staff regarding the unavailability of tables. I believe that these visuals offer a transparent depiction of the situation and the incongruity between the restaurant's actions and its purported lack of seating. It is crucial to emphasize that my intent in sharing this feedback is to raise awareness of potential issues that may compromise the integrity of the dining experience at Colbert. I have been a faithful customer for over a decade, and it is disheartening to witness behaviors that deviate from the standard of inclusivity and fairness that I have come to expect from a reputable establishment. In conclusion, it is my hope that this feedback encourages Colbert to reevaluate its seating practices and ensure that all guests are treated with equal consideration and respect. As a patron who holds this restaurant in high regard, I remain optimistic that my concerns will be addressed with the utmost seriousness and that necessary steps will be taken to uphold the principles of impartiality and fairness.

Entertaining pictures on the wall, great atmosphere, very attentive & friendly staff, down to earth food done brilliantly, probably the best ham omelette I’ve ever had!

Nice French brasserie. We had a simple lunch of salad and artichoke. It was good. Nice ambiance. Great service. My only complaint is that the men’s restroom smelled of stale urine. There’s really no excuse for that.

Came for breakfast and there was no chance of sitting indoors. Wonderful that there was a few free tables outdoors. I enjoyed my breakfast. The lady who served us was courteous and pleasant. Merci beaucoup

Overall a great place for breakfast and would visit again for lunch and dinner. Coffee - Great, with options of alternative milks Atmosphere - buzzing and vibrant Staff - excellent, friendly and helpful Food - really high quality and delicious Location - great location in the heart of Sloane Square Price - on the high side but expected with the location and quality We went for a simple smashed avocado on toast with a poached egg, this was delicious and generous with the avocado. Then the herb omelette, which was probably one of the best omelettes I’ve had in recent times, a lot of flavour and creamy consistency. Creamy porridge with berry compote, was made perfectly and the berry compote made the dish. We paid £61 for two people, for 3 dishes and 2 coffee and extra sourdough bread. Would recommend and return again.

WOW - Café Colbert is an absolute showstopper. My friend and I came here for dinner after seeing a show next door at the Royal Court Theatre and from the moment we walked in it was a 5* experience. Everything from the incredibly warm, friendly and attentive staff/service to the beautiful French bistro décor and of course the super delicious food made for a fantastic evening! I can highly recommend the stunning Côte de Boeuf served with French Fries (the best steak and chips I've ever had in my life) and their famous banana split dessert (which is perfect for sharing and brings back very happy childhood memories). My friend has the heritage tomato salad and the chicken paillard both of which he said were extremely tasty and fresh. Overall an outstanding dining experience - you can see why they are always full so make sure you reserve a table in advance. 10/10 Highly recommended - I'm always looking forward to coming back here again very soon. They really have the magic sauce.

Colbert in London is simply adorable! It's like stepping into a charming French bistro. The ambiance is cozy, and the food is delightful. Perfect for a cute date or a cozy brunch with friends. Highly recommend for a taste of Paris in the heart of London! 🇫🇷❤️

Popped earlier in the morning to order a cappucino. Was just waiting outside as advised by the signs, waiting to be served. I kept being passed over from person to person without someone taking the decency to welcome me and take my order. So after waiting for ten minutes for a hello I decided my cutom wasn't wanted or need so went elsewhere. I don't mind waiting like anyone else but please have the respect and decency to offer decent customer service. Left with a sour taste in my mouth.

Like being in Paris for 90 minutes. Great buzzy atmosphere like how you find a French style brasserie to be. Nice attentive service done properly and of course great food. Top place and thoroughly recommended.

If you enjoy average food and horrible service, then Colbert is the place for you! I have been several times over the past 5-6 years, each time hoping that it will have improved. The last time was the coup de grâce for me: I had a reservation for a business lunch with a client and the staff were so rude to us, I swore I would never return again. If you're in Sloane Square, go to Hans Bar and Grill or Chuc's instead.

Popped in for a quick lunch, the Côte de boeuf was very nice however the portion size seem smaller than expected quite thin. Duck confit was ok, duck seemed a little on the dry side. However the orange braised endives were very nice.

Didn't book the table for 2 in the morning, but could sit outside which was unexpected. We were together with our dog. The portions were big, black coffee pot contained 1.5 cups. 2 Cappuccino, black coffee, 2 avocado toasts with poached eggs and 2 pain au chocolat - £60, which is quite expensive. Great service, nice views, enjoyed the place!

We had a lunch on a busy day the restaurant was fully booked. We arrive way before the time of our booking, but we’re welcome and seated promptly by the smiling hostess. The restaurant is really beautiful, the ambiance is amazing , feeling like travelling in time. We had an order of Snails, the cheese soufflé, after a nice cocktail. The soufflé was really goodand the snails huge and well seasoned. As main we had the skate wing which was perfectly cooked, and an amazing escalope viennoise ( ask for Holstein way for top up of capers anchovies and egg). Unfortunately we were too full to be able to have a desert but they brought me a plate for my birthday with chocolate truffles. Wine list is consistent with reasonable pricing, and some very good estate ( jolivet , grippa, pibarnon, Girardin, Heidsick) I d like to add that the service is very efficient, they were available and ready to do the extra mile to make your experience amazing. Big thanks to Ben, Henrique, Cesar and the all team ! Will come back soon !

My partner booked this place for my birthday dinner as it allowed dogs. The food did not disappoint. Oysters were fresh, escargots were tasty and my lobster was delicious. The octopus looked and smelt amazing and so was the steak. I couldn’t fault this place for food however, as we had our dog with us we could not dine in the restaurant which is understandable but the seats in the bar area was very tight and really wasn’t comfortable at all. We got the car seats which isn’t uncomfortable but I can’t stretch my legs without hurting my partner and there was just not a lot of room and it was very hot. They also didn’t offer to take our coats (not sure if it’s because we were seated in the bar area or not) but due to tight space we really had no where to put it. One of the managers came to offer water and a treat for Louis which was really nice. All in all, it was a good restaurant and food was amazing. Would def come back.

A strong 4 stars for Colbert. They filled the void left by Oriel very well (for those who remember it) and it's consistently good. Here's what I liked: • Good service • The fries • The bread • The presentation • That you'll pretty much always be looked after and get a table even when full. You never wait too long • Reasonable prices considering the area • Did I mention the fries? What I didn't like; • Not wishing to be a pedant but on the last visit the bread was a let down BUT it was quickly rectified • The portion size of fries - only because they are so good that I could easily have eaten double Do I recommend it? YES Is it good value? YES Will I return? YES

Colbert used to be part of the  Corbin and Kings chain of facsimile restaurants including Zedel and The Delaunay but is now owned by Thai group,  Minor International. Serving an all day brasserie type menu, Colbert is an uber trendy place in which to see and be seen, with prices to match. You could get away with a burger and chips, a decent beer and a nice cake for about £45 but expect to splash out £70 p.h for a decent lunch including a glass of house wine. They also do a fairly bland set menu at £ 24.50 for two courses (£29.50 for 30). Portion sizes are generous and the cooking is accomplished if not spectacular. My Lemon Sole was a tad woolly and overcooked and the mash a bit gluey but it's a nice set of rooms overlooking Sloane Square with a genuine "Deauville" feel. Service is very good (they even allow you to taste the house wine served by the glass before committing to it ...a nice touch.) Desserts were excellent, especially the patisseries and ice cream coupes.

We walked in without reservation on Wed night and it was fully booked. Staff was most helpful in finding a Terrace table for us. Food was scrumptious and well portioned.

The service was horrible.... From the second we entered the restaurant we were treated like trash. I don' know if they thought we are teenagers (sorry 30+).. Even tough if we would've be younger that kind of behaviour is not ok. When we asked a table, they spoke to us like they are speaking to their kids. Then they just pointed to the bar that we can sit there. We had to wait ages to just ask if we can move. Table was not option as they assumed we are not ordering a lot of food... Funny how they know these things without asking ?! So we choose to leave it there and sit next to the bar. The lady who took our order was just so miserable. It does not take much to just give a small smile....One of us ordered main and one just side (+2 classes of wine (one each)). After food and drinks we decided to have one more glass of wine. The waitress WITHOUT EXPLAINING first told us off massively as we are not allowed to have extra glass as we did not order enough food. Which we had to correct one did, so what is the problem. So one of us was allowed to order and one was asked to order more food. I want to highlight we understand that there is government rules , the issue was that you can give your message politely and explain, rather than almost shout and point your finger. At this point we just decided to not give a penny more to this place and leave. We asked the bill and politely take the service charge out. The rude waitress said she can't do that and just looked us. After few awkward moments she said ok I have to get my manager. Who came to investigate why we are not happy. Not for a second he believed us, he just said its the government rule not them. It did not help how we explained that is not the issue, the staff is. When we finally got the new bill the same rude lady came back. We paid and after the payment was made we notice that SHE PUT EXTRA £2 to the total amount. THAT IS STEALING! When I asked to see the bill again she was trying to avoid this. Without giving up we got it and asked why did we have to pay extra £2. SHE DID NOT EVEN APPOLOGIZE, she just said "well do you want a refund" so she needed to go get the manager to sort this out. £2 is nothing, put it is just the fact she must do this to others too... The manager apologized and AGAIN was just on her side. Sorry she did a mistake.. SURE. A MISTAKE. When we did not buy this he raised his voice to say " we are a high-end restaurant, we don't do that" hmmmm yet that just happened? PLEASE treat people well, young and old.

A Chelsea classic! Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is of very high quality and the service is excellent. This restaurant is equally ideal for both a Saturday brunch with the family and a business dinner. The price is not cheap but not very expensive either. It is good value for money. Only need to improve reservations management on weekends.

  • 3/5 Rishi B. 1 year ago on Google
The food here was good - the steak and the goujons. However, over £50 per person for one main, one side and one non alcoholic drink is definitely overpriced. The chips arrived and were cold, so we had to send back (which was no trouble). The table was booked for 6 but we were not seated for until around 615-620. Overall, tasty meal but not quite the best.

I went here for breakfast with my friends and the baked beans had been scraped from other people’s plates and then served to me in a bowl. I know this because the baked beans had bits of egg white and sausage in it. Really disgusting. Will never return. And they still had the cheek to charge service charge.

We’ve here with my friend for Sunday brunch however brunch arrived before coffee ahah The coffee took 45 minutes to come even though we kept on reminding the waiter about it and it was not that busy . This is a bistro in a lovely location, with a great relaxed menu and really cosy interiors. I’ve been coming here for years, usually as a treat for myself. However, the service is cold at best but most of the time Soviet-style. The waiters are often rude, mostly inattentive and really make you feel unwelcome. After yet another disappointing visit, I’ll start looking for a new favourite place.

The baked bean event mentioned by my friend was really an unexpected and sad... I used to love there a lot... But the worst part was the waiter even didn’t take our comment seriously and didnt say sorry, he just brought another one as it is a very common thing happened before and we are acting sensitive... well I am a doctor and I can bare many unexpected stuff and still can keep calm... the service that day didnt deserve any money... hope they take these comments seriously and provide the service that name deserves...

Excellent, very attentive service. They were accommodating when we asked to sit outside (seating us inside initially but promptly moving us outside at the first available opportunity, once a table became available). A great spot for business meetings. Beautiful décor inside with large tables and enough space for good adherence to social distancing guidelines. Regularly sanitised, with thorough health checks on entry. The ambiance both inside and especially outside is divine, with a lovely view across Sloane Square!

Looks like old paris rich bistro that must have been really popular in the 70’s 80’s which is what you are looking for if you go to Colbert. I didn’t try much of the food and will certainly go back as the staff and the atmosphere were really enjoyable. Loved having at the bar quite some time with a good old fashioned. The madeleines were savoury and tasty and the eggs royale were also really beautiful when they arrived. I will recommend if you miss france in London or if you are looking for a piece of france in london

Le Colbert is a very classy 'brasserie Parisienne', pricey but worth it. The service is just as good as the menu and food portions are on the generous side. Always worth a visit when you are near Sloane Square but it's a good idea to book ahead!

If you visit and haven't had the onion soup, you've done yourself a massive disservice. Outstanding food supported by excellent service. Don't expect to walk in and be seated during peak hours and seasons; do make a reservation and come with an appetite. High quality French cuisine is easy to associate with a large bill and a fair amount of pretense, especially when it's a facsimile of the real thing. If you find yourself in the area, treat yourself to Colbert and enjoy the genuine article. The cost is reasonable enough you may fancy bringing a mate too.

  • 2/5 Emily F. 3 years ago on Google
Great food but when I visited alone the service was horrible and I was made to feel unwelcome. Nearby tables who were seated after me were given menus and told the specials as soon as they sat down while I had to wait much longer (until after those tables had ordered) just to see a menu. The server gave the bare minimum of interaction, always with an annoyed look.

The best french restaurant in London with a pleasant atmosphere, in my opinion. The food was excellent, the taste was incredible and simply an experience. Service is extremely attentive and courteous. Above all, the service manager is an absolute professional who cannot be surpassed in terms of flexibility and friendliness. Highly recommended.
