So I had a lovely breakfast here until it came to the end (read on)! I came for breakfast for my birthday and we ordered eggs Benedict and French toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the Hollandaise sauce was tasty (albeit a tad on the sharp side). The French toast was soft and well cooked although 1 and 1/2 slices of bread is a bit on the stingy side for £12. The food was great and the atmosphere and decor is both old school and elegant. The staff were lovely and friendly and service was great. When the bill came the waitress brought me two whisky truffles with a happy birthday message, which was a lovely gesture. Then they charged me £3 for the privilege!!!! My girlfriend must have said it was my birthday on the reservation but why offer someone a small, but kind, gesture then charge them for it when they didn’t ask for it. Shocking and so cheap I’d have second thoughts about going back. Can’t see them doing that at The Wolseley

Sunday lunch with my friend before going to the Theatre. We booked The Delaunay as close by. Very busy restaurant. Very upmarket decor and atmosphere. Staff very professional but not I would say " friendly". Food very tasty. My friend loved the soup but found the duck a bit salty, I found my haddock kedgeree very nice. Overall I enjoyed the meal but I don't think I would go back, some of the menu dishes a bit overpriced, but I guess you pay for the place...

Nice place with tasty food but very classy/traditional. Staff very attentive and professional we had a great service there. The menu is a bit boring or the food could be made in a modern way. Attaching pictures for reference. At the counter side, sorry to say but display doesn’t look tempting nor interesting. While having afternoon coffee the service at the counter was disappointing. Enjoy

I am so glad I discovered this restaurant!! I loved it, it feels as if you were eating in Austria, Germany or Switzerland!! We ate at the terrace, but the restaurant inside is huge. The service is good and the location is very nice. I highly recommend it to everyone, to just try something a bit different in London. You will love it!!

This was only ok in my opinion. I ordered the langoustines to start, it was over £20 and you could probably fit the meat into a dessert spoon. Cocktail was nice, main was good to but at £32 a bit pricey. Essentially everything just felt a bit too expensive for what I was receiving.

Sadly the transactional atmosphere of Christmas and request to free our table after we were just served another glass of champagne we ordered, made the visit to The Delaunay such a disappointing experience. Food was lovely although my Wellington was more on a medium side rather than rare, they were busy so water glasses were being filled upon requested and although we may have only (!) spent £200+ for our Christmas lunch the forced move from our table was the main reasons for 2 stars. I also work in service industry and I wish the experience matched the price tag. Sadly I won’t return again.

Magnificent all around. Just the right exciting city pre show ambiance. Professional and courteous service. Thank you, We LOVED the Creme DuBarry. Divine! The Duck Confit was perfectly prepared. Highly recommend.

Really good breakfast options. There are eggs cooked in many ways, omeletes, very nice bread and other options likes fruits and porridge and good pancakes. Great ice coffee. The eggs Benedict are fantastic. Service is good. Strongly recommend for breakfast/brunch.

Poached eggs cooked to perfection. Staff went above and beyond, even replacing my dish when my friend accidentally ordered the wrong thing for me, which they didn't have to do! Pricey, but worth the treat for a special occasion.

Man on the door and cloakroom man were very friendly. Reception as well. Our waitress on the other hand, could be a little more friendlier. Food was good. Unfortunately we had not much time for dessert as we had to leave for the opera. Not keen on water glasses for red wine 🍷. No style.

This restaurant offers amazing service and food. We have managed to arrange a reservation 1 hour in advance and were greeted by welcoming staff. What we had on that day was: pea soup, duck confit, eggs Benedict and a strudel. Everything tasted amazing. I do warn those ordering the duck that it has a bit of herbal taste because of the spices they use but the meat absolutely melts in your mouth with perfectly crisp skin. The pea soup was delicious and really reminded us of home. Also I do recommend ordering the coffee since the presentation is amazing as well as the taste.

My family and I had our dinner here when we were travelling in London. Enjoyed the service and the ambience in the restaurant. We asked for recommendations for food and drinks which we enjoyed. Will certainly return when I am back in London again !

Traditional continental European cuisine served in a classic and elegant ambience. The fillet beef stroganoff is warm, earthy and unctuous, one of the best I ever had. The montbeliard sausages were outstanding as well. All dishes were mildly spicy and a little salty, probably not too good for people with high blood pressure. Puddings were not as strong especially in presentation but didn't disappoint overall. Will come back for sure.

I loved this place. I took my family for a special breakfast to celebrate being reunited and it did not disappoint. The food and coffee was delicious and I'll go back. We had French toust with berries, Pancakes with bacon and avocado toast with egg. All perfectly done. We enjoyed our visit

Very stylish, reception staff very welcoming. Steak done perfectly with the right amount of seasoning, but..salt they use for cooking is table salt. The waiter told us it would be a waste to use flaky sea salt. Waste on customers? Cocktails were tasty and powerful.

Top notch service and food. A treat to have in London. The schnitzel was delicious! The Tarte Flambée with mixed leaf salad combo was great and well priced. Steak tartare was flavorful and better than many I’ve had in the area. Could skip the raw oysters next time. Look forward to coming back soon.

We had a very indulgent breakfast here, with an Almond Croissant, Kedgeree, Eggs Florentine, Eggs Benedict and Eggs Arlington to start and then some Pancakes with Berry Compote to finish. We also had some coffee and a smoothie. Very tasty food in a refined atmosphere. Service was also attentive and helpful.

Going here is like walking into a 1920s period drama and you may even see David Suchet or Bill Nighy. Even though the food is great, the atmosphere is unbeatable.

The Delaunay is a great place for breakfast while visiting London. I've eaten breakfast here on 3-4 visits. Great vibe with dark, rich colors in the restaurant. Enjoy your food and people watch. Grab a newspaper and read up. You can convince yourself that your in 3 different centures -- 1800s, 1900s, or 2000s if you put your mind to it. Good food. And have you tried this 3 layered hot chocolate?!

The Delaunay is part of those place you know when you enter you may not be sure when you want to leave. Atmosphere was like walking in a movie set. The place is a London Classic. Really like the simplicity and the execution of the cocktails. It was tasty and easy to enjoy. New menu is based on not so common classic. It is the perfect place to sharpen your cocktail knowledge. Well done. J.

The mains were extremely good (and fairly priced) and the service was very slick. The potato salad had a good dressing, but the potatoes were slightly undercooked. The sauerkraut was very sour (more so than on the previous occasions I've had sauerkraut), although I have to say that I'm not an expert. The esterhazy dessert was disappointing (it had unpleasantly sweet icing) and went largely uneaten. The atmosphere improved a lot once the pre-theatre crowd left at around 7.15pm - before that it was fairly noisy

Lovely service, arrived 30 minutes early and was welcomed in with no questions asked. Food was great and fresh, prices are higher than your standard chain but then again, the restaurant is not your standard chain - only thing I question is ~£6 each for mash and chips is slightly questionable but outside of this, all parties at the table didn't complain. 👌

This was my third visit to The Delaunay and it remains absolutely outstanding. Two of us had the chicken schnitzel with lingonberry compote and a side of fries, which were excellent, while my mum thoroughly enjoyed the wild mushroom stroganoff with herb-buttered spätzle. We did also order the broccoli side dish, which was a bit underwhelming and didn't feel worth the price at all. For dessert, we ordered the Kaiserschmarrn and apple strudel to share, and staff wonderfully brought out a slice of Sachertorte with a Happy Birthday slice of marzipan for my mum, which was a lovely touch and most appreciated. The trio of desserts were all *extremely* rich! Service was outstanding (apologies as I didn't get the name of the team who served us) and we'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful lunch at the Delaunay Counter - really enjoyed the food and festive atmosphere. The classic fondue and Viennese hotdog were delicious and matched perfectly with a glass of champagne for my wife and a beer for me. Would highly recommend the Counter area for a less formal but tasty lunchtime meal.

Excellent afternoon tea at an affordable price. Superb service, great selection of tea sandwiches and desserts, and perfect atmosphere. A full vegan option was available for my friend. They were very accommodating of other dietary restrictions and preferences as well. Thank you!

The food at the Delauney is always great and this time was even better, good quality and the portions are generous and very tasty, family also enjoyed it and four the flavours balanced and authentic. The breakfasts are also of a high quality and defiantly a good go to place for lunch if you want a quality meal. The food was all freshly made and the service was impeccable as always. Will go again :)

The food, service and portion sizes are great. This is the only place in London with a good coffe 🤩 I am a picky eater and our waiter helped me make the dish perfect for me. I had the vegetarian breakfast. He was also very friendly and approachable. Thank you!

came here for breakfast with coworkers — the environment is very lively and elegant with a great selection of breakfast plates and beverages. i ordered the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, which was quite a huge portion and super delicious. you can select your choice of eggs and bread (i had sourdough toast). the earl grey loose leaf tea was lovely as well.

I'm just crazy about Austrian beer. The plate is worth every bite. I do NOT eat much meat anymore - - here is the exception. My German server said they were made locally by two brothers. Music to my ears. Next time I will suggest a little Mozart, or even Beethoven. Why not? Great together with the exceptional Apple Strudel... Mmmm.

Cosy, upmarket restaurant (though, no cloakroom?) w safety precautions in place, ie. contact tracing collected and extra spaces between tables. Spot great for pre-theatre dining, meeting friends, or romantic date-night. Great offerings including set-menus and veg options. Looking forward to visiting again for the afternoon tea. *TIP: Want dessert but can't decide? Get the Coupe Lucian -- such a treat!

An ancient and luxury place for eating , we had a coffee ☕️ there at the restaurant. They used to had there own cafe in a separate place but not anymore after the pandemic and the shortage in staff. Their coffee taste good but no much variety of desserts They provide it with piece of dark chocolate 🍫

  • 4/5 Cecily C. 2 years ago on Google
I loved the aesthetic of the place- it is a nice, smart restaurant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was actually quite peaceful. The food was nice, however from the set menu, it really wasn't substantial. (We had the chicken, for instance, which was tasty but had no accompaniment other than a dressing. Not bad, just a bit disappointing).

Very good European if slightly eclectic menu (schnitzel and kedgeree both excellent). Calm atmosphere for Sunday lunch with a number of families. The portions were a very good size which is always to be commended.

This review is about the The Delaunay Counter. My mother and I had a wonderful meal and coffee; friendly service, best hot dogs tried and definitively recommend the rum cake. We didn't like one of the mains but they were happy to provide an alternative - top service!

We booked a 16:30 slot for afternoon tea to then be told at the restaurant that there was no afternoon tea. This was disappointing as it was not clear on the website and it was our friend’s birthday. The manager was extremely apologetic and explained the situation. He then proceed to create something similar to an afternoon tea with free scones, jam and creme. Extremely satisfied and happy with the service and experience. The Delauney is the place I will always take people if I want to treat them!

Love the Delaunay for breakfast. The pancakes with bacon and the avocado toast with poached eggs are delicious. Always have consistency for breakfast. However, I went once for lunch and the burger I ordered was medium but it arrived well done. I hate sending food back so I ate it. It was painfully average and it was after the lunch rush. This happens at even the best of burger places so I still rate the Delaunay 5 stars for decor and ambience. Next time I’ll get the chicken salad for lunch. Other than that- staff are always friendly and it is a great place!

Excellent venue with first class service and great tasting dishes from a wide menu. Expect to pay London West End prices especially from the wine menu. But the place has a wonderful ambiance both in the restaurant and the bar area. Plus there is the Bistro section next next.

Went to the Delaunay for a friend's birthday - we had the champagne afternoon tea. Beautiful atmosphere in the restaurant and the sandwiches, tea and cakes were delicious! The scones were my favourite of all, and was pleased to see that they offer scone options without fruit. They also catered for one of our vegan friends with no issues at all. The staff are really classy too.

Amazing quality and tea time experience here! It was my first time visiting London and the main thing on my bucket list was afternoon tea. This place definitely delivered! For a reasonable set price, you can experience the luxurious London afternoon tea at the Delaunay! If you go, reserve in advance as the place gets pretty packed.

Elegant yet friendly atmosphere. Scones and strudel were delightful. Scones were so nice I asked if they sold them next door at the counter - sadly they don't, but to our surprise the lovely waitress came back with a small box with some to take home. Thank you! No doubt we will be returning soon.
