OTT opulence within the spectacular 18th century Luton Hoo hotel. Despite the size and soft furnishings, a noisy party can disrupt your quiet enjoyment of the varied menu. Breakfast was comprehensive and caters to most tastes.

Booked in for a 6:30 dinner. Prefer to eat early. Restaurants closed however and invited to wait in lounge with menus. 30 minutes later finally invited back into the restaurant. More delay. At 7:15 they took our order. Not to difficult to choose, 6 starters, 6 main course and 6 puddings all in for Β£52 each. We'd had 45 minutes with the menus by then. Nothing else. But for Β£52 it should be amazing. Or so I thought ... Then an age awaiting our first course. 8 p.m. in fact. 90 minutes after our booked reservation. No drinks, only water. Food highly seasoned. Always a sign the chef is rushed and too liberal with the salt. At 8:45 we've eaten. Bill arrives more promptly than any of the three courses had. Now the shock. Not Β£52 each. Β£79 each. Would you believe they had the cheek to charge for the vegetables served with the main course. Not extras I should add, these were the vegetables served on the plate with the chicken fillet. So nothing we'd ordered - just something that was dumped on the plate with the meats. Plus a compulsory 10% service charge. So kept waiting. Slow in all respects. Very average food, over-seasoned. Tiny portions. Hidden charges for vegetables that were never ordered. Β£160 for two? Never again. The Wernher should be ashamed of themselves. Chandeliers alone do not justify mega prices. We expect good food too. On the way out I was informed the kitchen had been staffed by only one chef and a trainee assistant. With over 50 covers. Save yourself a journey. Hugely disappointing.

Extremely good restaurant with fantastic views. Great for lunch at the weekend if you are not actually staying at the hotel, or a treat for a special occasion. This is the first time I have been in a few years, but the quality is just as good as always.

Recently had dinner here with a friend and we were both unfortunately left feeling very disappointed with our experience. We arrived early and I will say, Rob who greeted us was wonderful. An absolute asset to the team and more than happy to take some photos and was a pleasure to talk to! Our dining experience however was not what we expected. The starter arrived promptly, however it took 50 minutes for our main to come out. We raised this and the waiter was aware we'd been waiting a long time and tried to find out what was going on. Our main then came out, but wasn't hot, the beef was warm, however the rest of the food was cold. Our wine then arrived after we'd finished eating. We had to wait a further half hour for our dessert to come out. We tried on several occasions to order drinks, and get the waiters attention, the service was not good. This was further made worse by the majority of staff preparing for breakfast the following morning whilst we were trying to place orders, and felt quite ignored and just in the way. I did try to call to discuss the experience and asked for Jonathan, as advised by Rob who kindly asked how our meal was at the end of the evening, however was left on hold for 20 minutes and eventually hung up as no one was answering. I do not think this is what people generally experience based on the reviews, however we will not be returning.

Breakfast time is from 7am - 10am. Dinner dress code is highly strict and tagged to be wholly corporate. There is absolutely nothing negative I can write about my experience at the Luton Hoo Hotel - restaurant

Thank you!!!!! I would like to recognise the chefs for making the most wonderful lunch for my wife last Sunday. We phoned in advance to explain "K's" dietary requirements. The restaurant listened and assured us that they would manage it all for us. Sunday came and the chefs made the most wonderful entree and made "K" feel so special. Thank you once again for a wonderful Sunday lunch

We went to the Wernher at Luton Hoo for a very special occasion. We had been before many years ago so we're expecting a super experience. On arrival we were left to our own devices to try and figure out what to do. We were early for our dinner booking and there were no members of staff around to provide assistance. Eventually we just walked into the restaurant uninvited. At this point we were finally met be a member of staff who showed us to our table. From the disappointing start though when the food started to arrive we could tell this was not ordinary cuisine in fat it was EXTRAORDINARY. What a treat for the taste buds even if I couldn't pronounce pretty much all we ate. It was delicious to say the least. Not for the faint hearted if you expect inexpensive, it is far from that but as a special, one off occasion well worth it. Wernher just needs to consider first timers who can be left confused, frustrated and a little angry not knowing the protocols to follow.

Been here a few times but not for awhile... My has it gone downhill!! Service was far from good apart from the doorman... Considering the price the food was erratic... Dessert was awful and my partner couldn't eat here school meal standard Bread and butter pudding... The menu was also a bit limited compared to what was on the website! Definitely not worth Β£50 per head... Shame that a so called 5 star hotel has come to this.. Whoever is responsible for the this restaurant needs to figure it out!! I didn't pay the service charge because it wasn't deserved...

My Husband and I enjoyed a really lovely Afternoon Tea here for his birthday. They were really accommodating for me being vegetarian, too. The service was exceptional (both Cole and Jade were super attentive to us) which always makes the experience. I'd say, the food, the atmosphere and the service makes it great value for money and a safe bet for a special experience. Highly recommended.

My favourite place. Unfortunately it was difficult to get booked in. It was easier before the lockdown s.

I was bought a Sunday 3 course lunch here for my birthday by my neighbours and cannot recommend it highly enough. A beautiful place, impeccable service and food of the highest standard....the roast beef in particular and the best cheese board I've had anywhere. My partner and I were wowed by every course and the lovely staff and cannot wait to back for the next special occasion (this was my 50th birthday and I can't think of a better place to eat for it). Thank you to all involved.

They stop taking reservations for Wernher restaurant but still advertise for it. When you book they are actually booking you for the brasserie and not the same standard. Be advised.

What an earth has happened!!?? we used to be a member of this hotel until 2020 when the service really started going down hill however even though the service was bad we recalled the food in this beautiful restaurant was always fantastic. My husband decided to book a table for Valentines with a special Valentines menu with champagne, oysters and Chateaubriand sounded great........on our arrival there was no doorman, nobody to greet us anywhere. We waited to be seated in the restaurant...it was full yet we only saw 3 staff to serve everyone. We sat down and were given a menu without much interaction. The waiter walked away...we were both very shocked to see a very plain menu consisting of steaks, risotto, salad and a beef wellington...we called the manager to ask where the Valentines menu was which they advertised for Valentines day when booking, to be told it was sold out and the manager just walked off, no apology or explanation, he didnt even seem to care!! We pondered on this for a few moments and decided we would not stay as this was not the wonderful menu offered on booking, was just plain pub food and clearly the service had become even worse! We got up from out table and waited by the door without any staff even noticing. We explained to the manager we would not be staying as we did not want to eat from this menu and he just said 'okay'...again no apology, showing no concern for the customers or willingness to be in his job or do it well. Our journey here takes 50 minutes and 50 minutes home so we spent most of our Valentines evening in the car followed by toast when we arrived home....lucky our love is strong but what a complete waste of time......not sure how this hotel will stay open; what was once a stunning restaurant with ambience, sommelier, fine dining and friendly staff has turned into a haunting sham for this wonderful mansion with so much charm and history to offer if managed by the right people. Do not waste your money or think you will get a special meal here; there are plenty of much better places to eat and stay not too far away.

Fabulous restaurant, very tasty food. My husband and I are vegetarian and the chef gave us a special compliment, the food was delicious and all the other dishes were great. We had a great evening celebrating my birthday. Most thanks to Reevens for his outstanding service and assistance. I highly recommend this classy restaurant to all.

Stayed overnight for my sisters birthday, lovely room and attentive staff. Spa was great and covid compliant. Hope to stay again, but will give the Wernher restaurant a miss. Food was bland and not seasoned, not fine dining. Adams Brasserie much better option and staff more helpful.

Delightful flavours in a great setting . Friendly understated service as well. Good selection of unique starters followed by an interesting selection of main courses . The toast potatoes in beef dripping are everyone's favourite and worthy as a side order. Good selection of wine but not extensive as if you are reading war and peace.

On Friday 18th March 2022 my brother sister and I along with our partners finally managed to use the vouchers we had been given for xmas 2019 and I have to say the company were very very good about extending the deadline for them. Unfortunately this is where the level of service ended. On arrival we were directed to our table (he pointed to our table) however my husband had to manoeuvre between two serving stands which were being used for nearby tables .Then when we ordered drinks the waitress had to go to another room 3 times to find out what soft drinks were available. A very limited choice was offered having only one drink available for our diabetic being diet coke which he doesn't like, so he had to settle for water. The 1st course was left on the stand in the sauceboat allowing a skin to form while the staff chatted. When the mains arrived, we had difficulty understanding the waitress, so asked her to just leave them. The original waitress then removed the covers from the 4 fish dishes before going to get the 2 chicken meals by which time the fish dishes had cooled We were amazed with the dessert choices for diabetics, with the only option being cheese and biscuits and although tasty, carried a surcharge of Β£4. Surely a smaller portion could have been provided as part of the 3 course meal. We never even got offered coffee! My brother was disappointed when he saw that a service charge had automatically been added to the bill as the vouchers had been bought as a Christmas gift

Wonderful unhurried service and perfectly presented dishes in a magnificent opulent marble laden pillared walls with high ceilings overlooking the spectacular rear gardens of the Mansion. Sunday lunch was perfect, every morsel of food was incredible with the best Yorkshire puddings we've ever eaten out! A well cooked lunch, beautiful fresh asparagus starter and well presented caramelised Apple tart was the perfect dessert. The petit fours were a lovely end to a delicious meal. Service was initially a little slow because of COVID restrictions and a very busy service but the staff were so lovely despite all of the extra tasks to keep us all safe so patience is a virtue at the moment. The room is very warm so recommend you dress appropriately. I had a pashmina which I didn't need once seated and was glad I wasn't wearing a warm outfit. If you are looking for an indulgent Sunday afternoon or dinner, highly recommend. Only open Wednesdays to Sundays. Advise booking early especially for Sunday lunch as it is very busy. Fish and vegetarian options are available but I would let them know in advance if you are vegan so they have the best options available for your visit.

Great atmosphere and style, great wine, good staff and service but the food was way below pre pandemic levels

Fabulous meal with great friends. Our choice of wine was superb and the food delicious. We felt the 3 course Sunday lunch was a fair price given the quality, service and setting. We will be back!
