Lovely place. A great tourist place. Always big crowds. However, it is worth coming here. The Big Ben building is an extraordinary architectural craftsmanship. Today, after renovation, it looks like new. I highly recommend visiting this place in London.

What a classic structure made during 1860s. View from London eye is also worth viewing. There are many other tourist attractions near this place, which is definitely gonna take your day, and still you may want to come here again. Amazing tourist attraction in London. Vibes are great here 😁 You can easily reach here through train. Westminster or Embankment is the nearest station.

This is a beautiful clock tower. I walked by here while visiting London and was satisfied with my experience. Big Ben is an icon of London, and one can admire its architectural beauty from the street. It has several small ornamental details on it, and it’s easy to tell the time on its large clock. At night, the clock lights up. I gave this clock tower five stars because it’s absolutely gorgeous. It looks significantly better than it does in pictures.

One of the famous and main icons of London..you can not picture London without Big Ben. I couldn't miss it despite the tiredness. We just stopped for pictures. The time was late. Everything was closed, but at least I saw the Big Ben. I think Big Ben was more important to me than the other tourist places. It was impressive, but not brightly lit. It was even a bit hard to see. I had to use night mode in my camera, so the Ben would look brighter on the pictures. That was a little disappointing. That's why 4 stars. London, England, UK 🇬🇧

London Bridge isn’t falling down, but to ensure Big Ben doesn’t, it’s been under construction the last few years. Just kidding, Big Ben wasn’t going to fall down. But they are restoring and repairing some areas that are common for buildings of similar age. Big Ben has been silent for the last few years, with the exception of major holidays. Luckily, there is a plan for completion in 2022 to hear the famous bong again. Have you heard the famous Big Ben chime/bong before?

A London land mark and iconic structure craftsmanship at its best. Nice to see the scaffolding coming down after the £80m make over. Unfortunately today 8th April scaffolding hit the building whilst been removed. Hopefully not too much damage.

Iconic structure is getting open slowly after lots of renovation work. It is not fully uncovered. If you are in London then you should visit this clock tower. It looks more beautiful from the top of London eye. It is just beside of Westminster so you can click your selfy from Westminster Bridge.

This is one of the most iconic places in London, and definitely one you should visit. At the time of our visit, it was fortunately not under construction, but I am told it is now. Beautiful tower, so bring your camera with you!

The Big Ben is a beautiful piece of architecture that is envied all around the world and for good reason. The spectacle that it creates at nighttime for me is something that it can only offer. For me is the focal point of London, the first place that I would go visit when I arrive there and the last place that I will say goodbye too. Welcome back Big Ben. Fun Fact: it is the actual Bell inside that is called Big Ben and not the tower.

Big Ben, the famous clock in London, was launched on June 3, 1859 AD [1] [2] [3] [4] Big Ben, the name of the great bell that rings the clock, is located at the northern end of Palace of Westminster in London and usually extends to refer to both the clock and the clock tower as well. The tower is officially known as Elizabeth Tower, so named during the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012; And he knew before that The watch has become a cultural symbol for the United Kingdom, particularly in the visual media. When television or filmmakers want to point to a public location in the country, the common way to do so is to show an image of the tower, often with a red double-decker bus or black cab in the front. In 2008, a survey of 2,000 people found that the tower was the most popular landmark in the United Kingdom. Sound was also used as a signal for timekeeping in some broadcasters such as the BBC, a practice that began on December 31, 1923 from microphones permanently installed in the tower and connected by line to broadcast. The name of the tower was originally Clock Tower, but was renamed to Elisabeth Tower in 2012 to honour their beloved queen on her 60th anniversary as a regent. Big Ben is the clock inside the tower, though people tend to use that name for the building as well. Once in London, you will see this iconic building. It is at the northern end of the Palace of Westminster. A five-year restoration project is about to come to an end, and the big clock will once again chime hourly and attract thousands of daily tourists from all over the world.

Big Ben, still being renovated but the scaffold has started to come down and it looks amazing. Big Ben is the name of the bell, in the Elizabeth Tower, great views from across the river where you can get a shot with the Houses of Parliament. Iconic London landmark, you need to visit, for that phot opportunity.

Even clad in scaffolding this iconic British building is instantly recognised all the world over. No surprise really that the nickname of Big Ben for the Great Bell of the striking clock is extended to refer to the clock and the clock tower by most people. The official name of the tower in which Big Ben is located was originally the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. Definitely a place to linger and get your perfect picture.

Very nice place. It is romantic and beautiful. Even though London is somehow gloomy when I was there, but it is still pretty as it is. I believe its original name is Elizabeth Tower, somehow it is known more as Big Ben. Be careful about your stuffs, it is very crowded

To see the Elizabeth Tower, "Big Ben," with near-zero crowds and traffic, try to visit as early as you can in the morning. We arrived around dawn on a June weekday and found the area to be wide open for beautiful, quiet views of the tower. The towering, Gothic Revival icon that is Big Ben is also amazing to see any time, day or night.

Big Ben is one of the most popular attractions of London in the UK and is one of the visiting cards. Big Ben is the clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. The Palace of Westminster is the seat of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, located on the banks of the Thames. An incredible architectural ensemble that you need to see at least once in your life. Any schoolchild knows him in theory, for those who studied English at school, the cover of an English book with Bin Ben, stories about Bigben. When I was at school it was dream to see it live, but all dreams come true, and as you can see) Yes, it may just be a clock tower, but the fact is that it is the most famous clock tower and symbol of England in the world. Once you see Big Ben, you will admire the beauty of this historic building. The exquisite architecture and grandeur are very impressive. I recommend visiting Big Ben to enjoy its magnificent architecture and experience the unique atmosphere of London.

Big Ben is London's famous clock tower. The clock tower is about to undergo a restoration program until 2021 - the bongs will stop until then. While there has been a plenty of speculation on the bell going silent until 2021, the measure comes in as a way to. We will miss Big Ben until then.

Big Ben, tower clock, famous for its accuracy and for its massive bell. Strictly speaking, the name refers to only the great hour bell, which weighs 15.1 tons (13.7 metric tons), but it is commonly associated with the whole clock tower at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament, in the London borough of Westminster. The tower itself was formally known as St. Stephen’s Tower until 2012, when it was renamed Elizabeth Tower on the occasion of Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, celebrating 60 years on the British throne. The hands of the clock are 9 and 14 feet (2.7 and 4.3 metres) long, respectively, and the clock tower rises about 320 feet (97.5 metres). Originally in coordination with the Royal Greenwich Observatory, the chimes of Big Ben have been broadcast—with a few interruptions—since 1924 as a daily time signal by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)

So Good, it's closed. I don't care. It's fabulous and you know you're in London when you see it for the first time. We didn't even realize it was going to be there when we got our of the train station but we all stopped in our tracks to photograph it. Later that evening at dusk it was even more spectacular with a crescent moon hanging above it. Just fabulous. I was taken aback how cool it was to see this in person after seeing it on movies and TV my entire life!...

The Elizabeth Tower, an iconic structure situated at the Palace of Westminster in London, England, boasts the renowned Great Clock, an impressive timekeeping mechanism with five resounding bells. Familiarly known as "Big Ben," a moniker initially assigned to its largest bell, the Great Bell, this imposing tower has secured a place in history and the hearts of many. The tower, previously identified as the Clock Tower, underwent a significant change in nomenclature in 2012. This alteration was made in honor of the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Queen Elizabeth II, resulting in the adoption of the name "Elizabeth Tower." The harmonious blend of architectural grandeur and historical significance makes the Elizabeth Tower not merely a timekeeping instrument but a symbol of the enduring legacy and cultural heritage of the United Kingdom.

I mean if you don’t go here why are you visiting London. It’s amazing. It’s also across the street from Westminster Abbey another must see. I recommend going at night as well. They don’t light up Beg Ben and Parliament at night anymore for energy conservation purposes. But it’s still amazing.

I travelled to London last week from Ethiopia to visit the one and only Big Ben. When I arrived in the big apple after my 37 hour boat trip, Big Ben was gone. I searched the city from top to bottom but it just couldnt be found! I was absolutley devastated. There were other attractions in the village such as the eifel tower, london eye and a large, scaffolding structure, but these buildings did little to improve my mood. I would not recommend making the journey to London if you plan on seeing 'Big Ben' because it just isn't there!

We were so excited to wait for the bell of the clock. For every tourist’s reference: It chimes every hour, and smaller bells around it chime every 15 minutes to mark each quarter-hour. However, it's under construction currently, so our photos look not so great and the construction is expected to be completed in its entirety in 2022.

I would recommend to have a quick stroll under Big Ben and continue to the next closest bridge to have a complete view of Thames river and Big Ben.

I recently had the opportunity to visit this magnificent structure, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Standing tall and majestic, the Big Ben Clock Tower is a sight to behold. Its intricate Victorian Gothic architecture is truly awe-inspiring. The tower reaches a height of 96 meters and is adorned with four elegant clock faces, each measuring 7 meters in diameter. The clock faces are beautifully illuminated at night, creating a mesmerizing display that adds to the charm of the tower. Visiting the Big Ben Clock Tower is an unforgettable experience. The surrounding area is bustling with activity, as tourists from all over the world gather to capture a glimpse of this historic monument. The sound of the clock's chimes resonates throughout the vicinity, creating a sense of nostalgia and grandeur. One of the best things about the Big Ben Clock Tower is that it is free to visit. You can simply admire its beauty from the outside or take a stroll along the River Thames, which offers a fantastic view of the tower. However, if you're lucky enough to be in London during a special occasion, you might have the opportunity to take a guided tour inside the tower and witness the inner workings of the clock mechanism. The Big Ben Clock Tower holds a significant place in British history and culture. It has been a symbol of London and the United Kingdom for over 150 years, serving as a focal point for celebrations, national events, and even New Year's Eve countdowns. Its iconic presence in movies, photographs, and postcards has made it instantly recognizable worldwide. In conclusion, a visit to the Big Ben Clock Tower is a must for anyone traveling to the United Kingdom. Its stunning architecture, free access, and historical significance make it an absolute gem. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply someone who appreciates beauty, the Big Ben Clock Tower will leave you in awe of its majesty and splendor.

Big Ben or Elizabeth's tower is one of the most well-known attractions in London. The view is lovely! Thought no matter when you are visiting London it's an extremely crowded place. I would recommend to have a quick stroll under Big Ben and continue to the next closest bridge to have a complete view of Thames river and Big Ben.

Beautiful landmark. The street in front of it is very crowded, over the bridge you’ve got a nice view, but if you go the other direction in front of Parliament Square Garden you will have a nice view and not very crowded to take photos.

Great to visit and finally see Big Ben close up, the detail and size of it cannot be described unless you see it in person. Westminster is equally beautiful the architecture is amazing. The general atmosphere around the area is really good people everywhere from all walks of life mingling together. We got the tube which brought you out directly across the street from west minster palace. We were fortunate to look round the palace as a friend of mine works there but I know you can purchase tickets, if you get the chance go and see inside you won’t be disappointed.

What an amazing experience we climbed up to Bell Tower. I was apprehensive about the climb up 334 steps. However, my fears were not needed. It was not too cramped in the stairwell, and groups are a maximum of 12. I did not feel rushed at all, and after climbing 113 steps, we stopped and went into a room where our guide gave us the history of the building. There are a further two stops before we arrive next to Big Ben itself. We were lucky to arrive at midday, so we had the full experience! Our kind was extremely knowledgeable and answered our questions. Before you go up the tower, you have to leave anything that is a drop hazard. Also, you can not take photographs whilst on the tour. I didn't mind as I felt I was living in the moment and have the memory firmly fixed in my mind.

The tower is nicknamed "Big Ben", a name which was originally applied only to the largest bell of the clock. The tower was officially called the Clock Tower until 2012, when it was renamed to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. The tower was designed by Augustus Pugin in a Perpendicular Gothic Revival style and was completed in 1859. It is elaborately decorated and includes symbols related to the four nations of the United Kingdom, the Tudor dynasty, and a Latin inscription to Queen Victoria. The tower stands 316 feet (96 m) tall, and the climb from ground level to the belfry is 334 steps. Its base is square, measuring 40 feet (12 m) on each side. The dials of the clock are 22.5 feet (6.9 m) in diameter. Location: Westminster, London, England Coordinates: 51.5007°N 0.1245°W Completed: 31 May 1859; 164 years ago Height: 316 feet (96 m)

It's my favorite place since I was little! The Big Bang of the city of London does not need any introduction. It is a mandatory stop in London, not only for the beauty of this building but also for everything that surrounds it. I wish there were such beautiful places in all parts of the world. The river, Thames, the views of the bridges to the Big Bang I think is the best angle to take some nice photos.

I’ve been listening to the chime of the Big Ben on BBC ever since I was a child. So seeing the Big Ben in person was everything I was expecting it to be. A wonderful monument and a tribute to English engineering excellence. As many of you know this was designed by the famed designer Augustus Pugin, an English architect, designer and artist, in a Gothic style. Even though it was completed over 150 years ago (in 1859) it has been maintained excellently and looks very new. By the way it is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you plan to visit UK, it is a must obviously, amazing place and the restoration is finally about to be over, so all 4 clocks will display the right time. From here you have access to plenty other historical and interesting places such as WESTMINSTER ABBEY, Jewel tower, palace and bridge of WESTMINSTER. If you like walking you'll easily arrive to different bridges like Vauxhall, Golden jubilee, Waterloo, Lambeth, etc. London eye it's a must do (i recommend it in the afternoon), Go to WESTMINSTER pier for a thames boat ride and Also Trafalgar square is really close and so much more it's a couple of minutes walking. Dont forget to get the most iconic picture from across the big ben next to the red phone boot. I did it as well. Finally don't forget to wear comfy shoes, an umbrella always comes in handy and dress properly for the lovely London weather. Hope your trip here turns out to be as amazing and life changing as mine.

It's a great view when they're not doing works on it or on the street. Night time pictures of Big Ben are great. You can take pictures from the bridge and towards the London Eye. Westminster Abbey and the House Guards are near. On occasions you can enter parliament but I've never been so find out times and details if you want to go in. Don't expect amenities nearby. Also, very few places for coffee, only a couple where you can sit down but not easy to find. Best cafes are five minutes away towards Victoria or Trafalgar but quite full most of the time. The London eye is near over the bridge and on the way you can see the London Aquarium, my kids loved it. Also, its an easy walk to St James park and Buckingham Palace. I find the park particularly nice with all the birds in the lake and the views towards the palace but better seen/enjoyed in good weather. There are toilets there as well as a couple of kiosks for snacks and drinks.

The River Thames is 215 miles long and has been an important trade route throughout its history. Some people believe that the Romans may have been influenced by the Thames when they were choosing where to build London. It's not just the sewage people should be aware of, but the tides, currents and water traffic too.Aug 5, 2020

I first saw the clock tower and heard Big Ben when I was 15, on my first visit to London. Because of the influence of movies, I had the mistaken impression that you could hear Ben echoing and reverberating all over London. Standing at the base of the tower, you can just barely hear it! However it was impressive as the very symbol of England and the British Empire. Rule Britannia.

Big Ben is the name of a large bell installed in the northwest tower of the Palace of Westminster, the seat of the British Parliament, located in London, United Kingdom. The official name of the tower in which Big Ben is located in the Clock Tower, but it was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee. The tower was inaugurated during the administration of Sir Benjamin Hall, Minister of State of England, in 1859. The tower houses the largest four-sided clock in the world and is the fourteenth tallest clock tower in the world. The tower was built in neo-Gothic style and is 96 meters high, having been completed in 1858 and started its activities on 7 September 1859. The Big Ben Tower is a British cultural icon, one of the UK's most prominent symbols and often appears in scenes from films, television series, programs or documentaries set in London. On February 15, 1952, he played 56 times, every minute during the funeral of King George VI, who died at the age of 56. On July 27, 2012 it rang for 3 minutes (from 8:12 am to 8:15 am) to announce the opening of the 2012 Summer Olympics. [7] It was the first time that the bell rang for its normal schedule since the funeral of King George VI , in 1952

Big Ben! Well the name of the toilet is Elizabeth tower, the name of the clock inside is called Big Ben. Of course it’s one of the most known building/tower in London and worldwide. It was covered and work was in progress for the last couple of years but now it’s open and shiny. The new look with the blue colour inside the clock makes it look amazing. A must photo stop in London, always crowded form the front side. I suggest to get the view from the back. Please see the pictures to understand. Absolutely in love with this tower.

It was in a long restoration which was a shame to visit but again it stands better then before now. It’s Big 😀 Ben. It’s a huge tower clock but I don’t think so even when you have photo nobody cares what’s the time. It shows that huge, poetic and architectural side covers what is actually for. It’s a big icon for not only city also for the city. You’ll understand when you see it.

Big Ben is a landmark clock tower in the heart of Westminster, London. It’s an iconic attraction. the tower was originally known as St. Stephens Tower. It was renamed Elizabeth Tower in 2012 in honour of the Queen’s 60th Jubilee. Technically, only the bell is nicknamed Big Ben, but if you say “Big Ben,” everyone will know you mean more than just the bell. It has been a pillar of timekeeping for decades.

Iconic and beautiful, I was not disappointed by the view. It was awesome to see such a well known fixture of London in person and up close. I would recommend walking down to the south bank river walk to see the best views of this unique clock tower.

An iconic sight of London. The area around it is somewhat crowded, although not particularly congested which makes it easy to take pictures. There is a wonderful view of it from inside Westminster Abbey if you get the opportunity to do a tour of that. I would definitely recommend seeing it during your London visit.

Is unbelievable how beautiful this structure is in real life when you see it in person. It is humongous and it looks pristine for its age. To think the time it took to build it and the precision of the clock is mesmerizing. Some very smart people made this work for all to enjoy.

Even more magical than I could have imagined. Standing in the shadow of this great monument brings you close to the millions who have stood before. It is a must see when you hit London. Take your time and be in awe of the masterpiece that is Big Ben

Iconic London landmark. Right next to House of Parliament and Westminster bridge. Cross that bridge for the London Eye or the London Aquarium. Waterloo station is also close to those... About a 10 minute walk. Parliament Square is nice but very busy. Some nice greenery and the river make this a pleasant experience. You can also walk up the Mall to Trafalgar Square if you fancy that

Made sure I was there at 12pm to hear Big Ben in all it's glory! Elizabeth Tower just got a facelift and lucky for me it was complete when I was there. It was beautiful and I was so happy to be in that space at that time. A beautiful day, no rain and at 12pm. This was a great experience!

Part of the Westminster Palace, it is an emblematic monument of the city of London. If you choose well your time you'll be honored to hear its bells. It is a must seen thing, always worth the little detour. Plus you get to walk on the side of the dirty river Thames, be careful not to fall as it's really muddy and you couldn't see clear in that water.

Having seen Big Ben many times today was wonderful to walk out of Westminster tube station and with such clear and bright skies see all of the refurbishment gleam in the sun light! Such an icon of London and wonderful to see! Any time of the day is great to see it and if you ever don’t know how long you have been staring at it, at least it will be able to help you out!
